I was at secondary school in 1964 so the summer term 1963 would have applied to me since I was in the final year of juniors.(It just 'felt' like it was on Thursdays- I could be wrong of course.) Yes and music and movement in the smelly dining/assembly/gym hall.
'Christmas' or Xmas is pagan and characterised by stuffing your face, general festivities to celebrate nature and therefore bringing greenery indoors- it was hijacked by christians and Jesus was probably born in September.
People who let their relatives (who probably live on some grotty estate somewhere) park their car outside your house when they go on holiday for 2 weeks.
There was a spate of egg dropping from buses onto car windscreens at one time and the worst thing you can do is use the washer fluid and try to clear it as it becomes opaque.
Since the Oxford Dictionary specifies that it is 'dye' rather than 'dis' section and since I have performed umpteen of the aforementioned- I beg to differ PGC. (are you from another country?)
There was a discussion amongst German business leaders, not too long ago either, about using English for communications because it takes about a third less type than German
(Reminds me of a quote from Kelly Osbourne- she said she liked to eat English food when she can, like pizza and Wagamamas!) Wagas is great- and if you have food left over (portions are large) they offer to pack it for you to take away (at least the Camden one does)
I had that for blood sugar. It didn't hurt but when the nurse put the sample in the machine, it couldn't read it so I had to go to the hospital anyway for the full monty blood tests.
Yes P68, it is the Labour council members -because we have Lib Dem members. I went to a council meeting (when the Conservatives were in Central Government) where a Labour member (well known at the time for his green credentials) commented against what a Conservative member said and actually admitted that he knew nothing about the circumstances and it was obvious that he said it because the Conservative member had said what he had said. The incident certainly opened my eyes as to what was going on and explained a few things that had been going on in the Borough prior to that meting.
I wondered whether he had been briefed about the type of audience David Letterman attracts because I get the impression that US chat shows are not in the least spontaneous. Or maybe DC wanted to give the impression that he is not interested in ancient British history because he has his finger firmly on the pulse of today's goings on!
