  1. I do wonder whether retail was the driver for the design - over passenger convenience.
  2. I agree with the no. of bins on street being too many. Some households, however, unfortunately cannot avoid it.
  3. Yeah it seems just chuck the old tree on a corner (at night of course) is the new mode !
  4. Mountfield range are good.
  5. Virgin BB only ?18pm.
  6. I use laundrette all the time. was just surprised how anyone could think it unusual that squatters would want to move their domestic appliances into their home.
  7. 'principle', 'fair', 'presumably' ?! If you say so, please extrapolate as far as you want fella, I guess at least it bumps the thread ! Banks can afford it, would be a nice gesture. But no, I wasn't proposing a national solution or application of principles across the UK (or Europe, or World, or Universe - before you carried away).
  8. Washing machines are cheap, easy to plumb in, and surely a necessity ? Who on here doesn't have one ?
  9. There's a riverboat link isn't there ? If anyone pays for it it should be the Canary Wharf banks, not govt.
  10. It's been squatted hasn't it ? Glimmer extinguished.
  11. Alcoholics Anonymous is an established organisation for this kind of addiction.
  12. This year I will be really handsome.
  13. Anything like that, just leave it in your front yard. It'll be gone soon. People are always patrolling for scrap.
  14. That sort of set up sounds to me like a prime candidate for stag weekends - hosted by the pub.
  15. Also worth looking on YouTube for furniture hacks, there's loads of clever advice.
  16. I have quite a collection myself, since I was around 7yrs old, British and perforated definitives mainly. Collections are not generally in the ascendency value-wise these days, unfortunately. Although obviously, there is always a decent price to be had if one of your stamps is 'the one' !
  17. yeah that pavement job is a propa earner for the company laying it (every few years, again and again).
  18. I refrained from replying to the first Foxy post, in any case rendel replied better than I would have. But the 2nd Foxy post, come on !! Basically guys if someone makes-up their mind that something is the case, then that's what they're gonna believe. No rhyme or reason. No material basis. Not worth challenging.
  19. The problem of trying to generate more revenue for Southwark through fines, possibly ?!
  20. if the crap fits, more like !
  21. well said peter. it seems there are a lot of 'perverts' out there, who never knew (or did anything) to deserve it, if you read posts above.
  22. Basically this is a big accident / tragedy waiting to happen. If the police or somebody don't get to her first.
  23. It looks crazy / dangerous. But this is because ED trains were cancelled, right ? I'm not sure that any individual station is designed with an in-built capacity for handling overspill from nearby stations which have problems. I know DH can be a swine even on a normal day, but aren't these crowds particular to today's problem at ED ?
  24. "how does anyone justify the fact that 90% of SE London is completely absent from the tube network and there is no plan to address it ?" This is a fair point. When I moved to ED in 1990 I checked with TfL the plans for tube extensions and I was advised that in 11yrs ED would have a tube station, however which line would be extended was still under debate they said. I thought even if it takes 5yrs longer I'm OK with that (that'd be 2006). Not bothered about the tube now though, just need a reliable predictable train service. I've read somewhere that the entire of the area from the Thames to Camberwell is pretty much reclaimed marshland and have always assumed that's why we can't have tube lines down here. But E&C has one !
