  1. It's not about entitlement to housing or shelter, it's about availability. Expect a lot more of this in the coming many years.
  2. That was probably some joking, I think Foxy supports Millwall not West Ham. You'd assume the curry crowd are at the bar seeing as they're really just passing through en route to curry house ? Must come along some time.
  3. Put a sign up saying cars will be ticketed if they park across your drive.
  4. It's nothing short of fraud, it really is disgusting how this is even legal.
  5. 0930, 3rd in queue, in/out in 8mins !
  6. Looks like on the Lordship Lane side of the property some folks have moved in, or, at least, have tarpaulined-off a bay for use as sheltered accom.
  7. I'm sure I read in The Fan Man that you can dry the skins and smoke them - to excellent effect. Let us know how you get on, maaaan.
  8. Anyone know what time the blood test opens these days pls ? Or best times to go to avoid longest queue / busiest period ?
  9. Relying on trains (with changes !) for an interview ? Perhaps. If you allow for every train to be late or cancelled and double the 'scheduled' time you'd need. Drive to Sydenham Hill (turn right just before Horniman), along top to Crystal Palace park then down through Penge, Beckenham, to Bromley.
  10. Popped in to the Great Exhibition last night with missus and, unlike when the place first opened, the music was too loud to have a conversation - even when our heads were 6" apart. The place was moderately busy, but every single table except perhaps at the back was shouting which seemed bizarre. The policy at GE used to (seemed to) be that music was unobtrusive. DJ was playing a wide range of half-decent music - as if he had a full-on party, while punters all huddled across their tables, shouting "what ?". Even at the bar, sign language was required to support ordering what we needed. Only popped-in for one and some quick food, else would have asked WTF was going on !
  11. Unfortunately, it's a bit like sports, the more you practice the better you get and if you don't put the practice in you don't improve and when starting-out there will be many mishaps and disappointments. A rite of passage that we've all endured. When a teenager I was shite at 'girls', my first girlfriend was when I was 22 and she was an amazing lass who more than made up for years of self-doubt, etc. By then I'd just concentrated on my own stuff (athletics and martial arts) and become known naturally in the community. Through that I knew many people and everything happened off the back of that. We put pressure on ourselves for certain things to happen, looking around at peers at what they're up to, it's tough - but it always works out fine. We can't and won't all develop at the same pace.
  12. Just tell them to turn it down, it's not the barstaff's own domain to do what they want. If they refuse, ask for manager, if that doesn't work ask the other 'couple' of customers if they'll support you and if the music is actually too loud those customers will agree too. Failing that, go to Franklins.
  13. Ageism is pathetic and driven in a big part IMO by the media BS. Entire population is ageing and soon (if not already) will be the majority of citizens. Then what ?!
  14. so it's regular and you know when each day it happens - rig up a camcorder inside your front window perhaps partially hidden in clothes / plant and let us know who it is.
  15. everyone has this problem bro.
  16. You can make yourself exempt by behaving in a way that would automatically want the courts to not have you on their premises as part of a jury. Worked for me, never heard from them since. Being self-employed it would have cost me a packet because I think I was warned it could be 3-4 weeks.
  17. Lift the freezer over the valves they're only a few inches high. You need 2 strong blokes - sorted.
  18. Not necessarily Foxy. You can turn both rad valves to 'closed' and (while keeping them attached to the system piping) detach the radiator from both valves. That way you'll only unleash a radiator full of water, won't have to drain the system, won't have to refill entire system, and will only need to 'top' up the system. Sue, one way to move the freezer could be to lie it on end on a slice of carpet and drag it round the hall. If you can select a piece of cardboard / carpet which is same size as end of freezer, you can 'practice' manoeveringthrough the space available to see how viable the dimensions are in your hall.
  19. I know it's a hassle to have to, but what about just muttering, "excuse me can you let me pass through, please" as you approach. And point to where you're intending to pass through so everyone's clear. They're not working as a unit. Big groups of people like that are probably not coordinated enough to have a common strategy for oncoming passers-by.
  20. Walsh's down Herne Hill.
  21. "The carpet was squidgy, and you could smell the stench from the gents from just about every seat in the pub. " That's because the punters used to wet themselves on the seats across which they were sprawled, when incapacitated by alcohol. So the whole place just stank of piss. That's why. Fact.
