Straw poll - idling engines (buses, coaches, vans, etc.)
KidKruger replied to Nigello's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
People pulled-over just scanning their phones/eating, stereo on, engine on, sometimes up to an hour. Private drivers, minicab drivers, builders/tradesmen. I think very few of which will say "thank you, what a great point you've made, I'll be sure to consider environmental aspects next time I want to doss an hour in my heated car, filling my face and charging my phone". Or at least, I'd be surprised if that was the kind of reply ! -

Where did you get your information form - Southwark Council ?! 🤣 I live on a boundary road. The traffic has increased in multiples. Not only that, because it?s being used as a way around (what I presume must be) previously usual routes now closed, there is increased tension in the driving behaviour, with speed and desperation causing near-accidents daily. Just as there had been an intention to make some roads traffic-clear (LTNs), my road has become a main road in all but name. I?m sure some bright spark with numbers can come up with some ?data? to indicate exactly the opposite of what I and my neighbours are experiencing, but the reality is a failure - unless causing congestion elsewhere was the intention. ?Reduced traffic and safer on boundary roads? my arse. When people start coming out with this nonsense, which I can see clearly is unrepresentative of the reality I experience, it makes me feel gaslighted 😭😭😭

My gas meter box has rattled open previously during particularly windy periods FYI.

We use that area almost every day, but I think it?s comparatively less used than the other wide-open areas, possibly cos it?s more heath-like and boggy. -

I remember last night fights between locals and the fairground lads (who always won by a country mile - more practice I guess). Who are the dumb-dumbs ?! -

wow, pretty ,much the entire of the common, once you account for those outside doing a whiteout. why did they change from the area at the back where its usually held, just to enlarge the event ? I think it's uncool in this area of the common. -

Why do you think that ?!

I?ll take all the plumbing /drainage from/to the rear of house. Agree on macerator. May have to build platform to get the waste pipe fall reqd to outside rear wall. Waste will probably be to side of rooms (terrace house) partly under floor and possibly right through a chimney breast. Shower may have to be electric, are they as shit as they were when I lived in bedsits years ago ?!

The fact that EDF users didn?t all bang on about the awful events probably indicate sensitivity to the issue, rather than not noticing.

Thinking of installing a bathroom at front of house upstairs, but water sources and drainage are to rear side of house. I?m sure I?m not the first and it?s entirely possible, but any experiences requested. Things that spring to mind as potential challenges? 1. What sort of shower is feasible with combo boiler at other side of house ? (Water pressure/impact on other bathroom) 2. How to route drainage to back of house ? 3. Planning reqd ?

What a scumbag. And stupid too - claiming to want to get back together with his ex-wife while sending her messages calling her a whore. 18yrs nowhere near long enough a sentence for someone that far gone.

I?m sure Putin will be shivering in his boots knowing that heavy-hitting, vastly experienced and influential, cause-driven Johnson will be ?paying a visit? to the region. The fear will be palpable. 🙄🥱
