  1. If spoken to tenant above about the noise with no improvement, I'd google similar issues within council tenancies, but also private occurances. See what successes other complainants in similar situations have had and how they tackled this dilemma. Notwithstanding the above, it was IMO a mistake to advise the council that the situation was resolved when it was not. I would raise again, by letter, with council as a noise issue and be clear about impact on you as a tenant. Do the leases on these flats allow tenants to sand their floors ? My final (though a negative) and last response would be to tell council the property is being let with as much evidence as I could muster. It's a shit situation and I think whilst checking other's experiences you should also try again patiently to discuss with tenant upstairs including letters (you keep copies) to evidence the efforts you have made, before moving onto further action.
  2. I use an app called Simple Resize.
  3. Social / ethnic - probably a mixture of the two, which will only be accurately measurable once it's been achieved.
  4. Missing the point completely. Who works / shops the area in question on a day-by-day basis ? Who wants to 'clean it up' ?
  5. Fortified - I agree completely. I was kist trying to make a point with the ethnic-cleansing-by-stealth'ers.
  6. If you want a boring predictable safe sterilised high st try Lordship Lane, how can you have wasted a whole life shopping in a 'shithole' when what you were looking for is a mile away ?! lol
  7. 'improve'. 'sh.thole is another's paradise'.
  8. It's been this way for decades and seems to function well. Why assume that having a business in the area obliges you to keep the white boy's insecurities covered by changing your surroundings to suit what he wants ? Other peoples' perceptions, especially of those not using the facilities as they stand, are what seem to be the 'requirement' to sterilise the area. If it ain't their style they should go elsewhere, London's big enough innit. Peckham ain't no city. If you want a 'city' square, try Trafalgar. If you want a 'city' market, try Portobello or Spitalfields. There's a lot of people happy shopping in the 'shithole', check it out - it's rammed 7 days !! A contended (and proud) 'shithole' shopper.
  9. That's it. Now that 2-bed flats are half a million, all that's needed is to remove the existing Rye Lane independents (who actually serve the current community) by doubling rents, replacing them with coffee houses, vinyl/pie n mash combos, franchises and estate agents.
  10. If they didn't change Rye Lane around the station I'd be sorted, it does the job fine already IMO. The people working in that area and with livelihoods there are surely not trying to change it. It seems like greed is the driver for change. 'Culture' ?
  11. I thought all the insurance / driving licence / road tax / MOT checks could all now be done automatically by scanning the car number plate through fancy technology, removing need to pull folks over.
  12. Damn I'd assumed it'd shut years ago. Will go ASAP, but gutted I've missed 20yrs of great food there since I used to frequent.
  13. oh - I didn't know that ! Will heed that in future...
  14. Can you not just do a CHAPS payment from your bank ? ?25 flat rate, sends by 2.30pm same day (or next day, if you miss the deadline).
  15. "When the wrong ply separates on 2 ply loo roll" Just unroll the outermost ply a full turn and it should line-up with the innermost ply. (If I understand the description correctly)
  16. if the existing platform was there for some many years/part of the original structure there shouldn't be an issue replacing it.
  17. It shows that a whole bunch of (what are now proved to be) twats wrecked several town centres and 100s peoples' livelihoods and homes just because they thought some bloke with a gun had been done badly by the Met. Or, more accurately, saw it as an excuse for such antics. Signs of a fecked society if ever there was one.
  18. Sounds cool - happy to a spin a bit if you need help.
  19. try the foyer of the 100 club, it's usually open for staff to get in and has doors separating you from street.
  20. Is there any demographic that has moved into ED over the last decade or two that would not be regarded as 'blow-ins' ? i.e. working class folks moving from deptford or hackney, east european or vietnamese immigrants, people working in London for a couple of years who've chosen to live in ED during that period. Just wanna be sure I get the generalisation fully.
  21. steveo - pretty loud KKB - "our empire and your wealth was built on other people blood", as opposed to all the other empires, where it was all done on fairness, equality and balance, right ? ROFLROFLROFLROFL LMFAOLMFAOLMFAO
  22. "that and a history of coloniaisation slavery, murder, rape and theft" LOLOLOLOLOL ..and an ability to make pseudo-observatioins and pretend they mean anything significant.
  23. There used to be a guy who walked around Camden with a huge gash in his arm. He'd basically rely on your shock - first time I saw it I have him a ?5er for a cab to hospital. Next time, when he had the same gash 2 weeks later and was hassling someone else, I demanded my ?5er back ! The wound was gross, like something off a battlefield.
  24. Surely this guy's been twatted a few times if he plays up like this. And still carries on. Skaghead maybe ?
