  1. Nigello I actually mentioned skin colour to see if someone would haul me up on it. They did. You ! I'm not hung up on skin colour - so stop flapping yer gums ! ETA: And Duncan !! 3. So, was waiting to get served in a small store on Saturday. A couple walked in and waited behind me, neither with masks on. Very small space. I moved to furthest corner and asked why these two aren?t wearing masks. He says oh we thought we had masks but we must have run out. I say there?s plenty shops around here where you can by them before coming into a shop, esp one with a clear sign saying don?t enter without masks. He says ?if you?re uncomfortable with us not wearing masks we can wait outside?. I say that?s not the point, if you thought that way why did you both come in, rather than just one of you - and anyway you?ve both been inside for 2mins so how will that undo it. I try to think fairly but I think these guys didn?t both run out of masks on same day, they just don?t wanna wear them, if pandemic / safety was their priority they?d not enter maskless, full stop. In the end I stopped trying to press it, he?s clearly being painted into a corner, won?t admit it and is coming out with vaguer and vaguer replies. It?s such a simple thing to adhere to, these are white middle class 40yr olds with an education.
  4. Yeah we debate the merits of this or that until the cows come home, meanwhile some of the countries listed above owned it, got pretty much through to the other side, and are rebuilding. Wish I was back in Thailand !!
  5. So does it follow that 72% of BAME citizens in UK are stupid and dangerous, or just the ones you select ? Nigello Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If you or your relatives are poorer and/or belong > to a group that is statistically more likely to > suffer from Covid and don?t get vaccinated then > you are both stupid and dangerous.
  6. I went veggie for a few months in India - best food ever ! Every dish looked like it had vegetables in it. I think it?s a Western thing wanting meat-looking products made of processed vegetables (and god knows what else), cos we?re so precious compared to people living a bit nearer the harsh end of life (and we can afford it).
  7. Yeah Sparts, I've always had 'a problem' with veggies wanting meat-looking food (which by definition is going to be processed). Not that I think they shouldn't, but why oh why ? Perhaps it's the meat-eaters-turned-veggie crowd that need the comfort of meat-looking processed products. Vegetables are a decent food, no need to cover it up, they're nowt to be ashamed of !! Respect your vegetables, come out of the veggie closet and embrace the whole scene proudly ! Mrs Manjula can help. https://www.manjulaskitchen.com
  8. Speed is a problem everywhere unfortunately (I am part of ED speedwatch) and diversions don't seem to make a difference.
  9. Despite Trump reportedly recently refusing to pay Rudy Giuliani his 2mths of fees, he's now apparently representing the (what will be) ex-Pres for the Senate prosecution after the inauguration. I'd be interested how that works - for either of them !
  10. Dogs shouldn't be jumping-up in this weather anyway, muddy feet and clean coats are not good bedfellows. I saw a woman in a park last week, big pink coat, covered in mud from a dog that jumped-up repeatedly. She seemed Ok with it (perhaps because she was walking a dog, dunno), but I wouldn't be and I expect others wouldn't be either.
  11. I think it?s down to what?s reasonable. If you?re in front of a magistrate for a ticket you received and appealed for simply shopping with babies during a pandemic where there?s long queues, they?ll hardly regard you as out of order. The parking ticket Co. knows this and they?ll play you until then. Persist and then claim for compensation for stress from the whole procedure. You?ve done nothing wrong. I had similar for 2x PCNs for ULEZ and CC. I represented, they said No. I appealed they refused the appeal. We headed for court, they backed out days before. I said no you can?t back out now, you refused me twice and my story (and evidence) hasn?t changed - you would have taken my money after you rejected my appeal but now we have to stand in front of reason (magistrate) you feel shy. So they avoided court by dropping the court date and I?m chasing them for compensation for my time and trouble dealing with tickets that were invalid and inappropriate.
  12. I heard on LBC yesterday that %72 of BAME citizens in UK would refuse to take the Covid vaccine, while they are the most vulnerable demographic with respect to the virus. This is really sad news and (the anti-vaccine aspect) is probably due to mistrust of Govt. 13. It?s only the bottom (Northern) block of the road blocked. One can still access FHR via (eg.) Ryedale and Dovedale.
  14. Happy Birthday Aaron, local lege...! xxxxx
  15. YeH pretty pathetic - him of all people. Perhaps trying to obviate himself from blame. 16. Thanks for the advice, really useful.
  17. He?s refusing to pay Giuliani?s fees for the last 2mths. ($20k per day x 60 days = $1.2m) There will be no DoJ or White House legal team to hide behind in this 2nd impeachment. He?s having a hard time finding a legal team to represent him. I commend Sidney Powell as his attorney, she?ll do a great job defending him (yes I?m being vindictive !)

  20. We avoid stroking other dogs and allowing others to stroke our dogs. Just seems like common sense until we know for sure what the deal is.

  23. There were huge drainage works done, I think to protect the posh houses.
  24. the ground is saturated at the moment, the rain has nowhere to soak into, so it's sort of inevitable, Nunhead cemetery and the woods are the same - large puddles.
