Yes all free and they'll post them to you https://www.three.co.uk/Support/Free_SIM/Order http://shop.ee.co.uk/price-plans/free-sim https://freesim.vodafone.co.uk/big-value-bundles
  2. The only reliable way is to get a free PAYG sim from each of the other providers and see what the signal is like in your house. It's that variable and no website will give you 100% accurate data for your particular hosue. Or use TuGo as others suggest.
  3. If it's too long, buy a cheap hacksaw for ?10 or so from a local DIT shop and cut the ends off to make it less than 6ft, be cheaper than arranging private disposal...
  4. If I was you I would have obtained a quote and spoken directly - on phone, leaving voicemails/texts - to your neighbours giving them the chance to fix it or you would have to pay for it yourself. If I was your neighbour I would expect a more robust challenge i.e. "Hi, my Sky is down, engineer has come out and said it's due to your scaffold blocking signal, any chance you could move the scaffold or my dish"? Then I'd chase a few times and leave it after that - too small a situation to fall out with neighbours over. I'd obviously be thoroughly pi$$ed off but would not go asking for advice on a forum that they can read!!

There's a fair few independent engineers who would have given you a free quote to use. You could then have replied saying that an engineer had confirmed it was their fault, and would they mind paying. Then you could then either use that engineer or one of Sky's. Anyway the point is that you just bypassed this step so the neighbours could feel that you're now just asking for money without any evidence, which would wind most people up. You need to prove to them that this is the problem rather than just getting it sorted and expecting them to believe you. (You could always ask Sky to send you written confirmation that the scaffold was blocking the signal, or it might be mentioned on the invoice)... I think your relationship with the neighbours has gotten off to a pretty low start!
  6. I would have had an engineer round to confirm it was the scaffolding and to quote to fix it (but not pay anything at this point). Then approach the neighbours, tell them your Sky went down, you had an engineer out who said it was their scaffold, and it would be x amount to fix. All in a nice, friendly way. If they didn't offer to pay then, I would ask them to. That would be the fairest way. What you've done is fixed it yourself and asked them to pay without giving them a chance to fix it first, which is bound to have wound them up a bit.
  7. Is the scaffolding is blocking the dish? In that case © can't be used so would go with (a)
  8. Yes it was when they ran out of numbers and started new routes - the prefix letter is the area around which the routes cluster apparently. So for instance: P = Peckham C = Central D = Docklands More info here http://markhadfield.typepad.com/that_gormandizer_man/2009/03/how-london-buses-are-numbered-tfl-come-up-trumps.html
  9. My shower felt a little weak at 06:20 By 06:45 when I filled the kettle it was down to a trickle. Top end of Upland Road.
  10. If Charles can't get the basics right (correct use of exclamation marks and syntax) how can you trust him to run a railway?
  11. I've never seen a crossing without them? They've been around since the 1960s. They're there to improve visibility at crossings - otherwise you'd be peering out from behind parked cars and oncoming cars would have trouble seeing you. Not allowed to park on them...suprisingly I very rarely see vehicles ignoring that rule. Consider yourself lucky as Police can issue 3 penalty points and ?100 fine!

The driver probably did not know the route via Peckham and was told to drive it straight via New Cross instead. Better to get the train out of the platform rather than leaving it blocking incoming services (and leave the train where it should ultimately have been - i.e. West Croydon). Still crap but the best they could do in the circumstances.
  13. Email address looks a bit suspect. You may have better luck on Twitter or [email protected] 1810 does look like one of the poor performers http://www.recenttraintimes.co.uk/Home/Search?Op=Srch&Fr=London+Bridge+%28LBG%29&To=East+Dulwich+%28EDW%29&TimTyp=A&TimDay=4p&Days=Wk&TimPer=4w&dtFr=04%2F08%2F2015&dtTo=01%2F09%2F2015&ShwTim=AvAr&TOC=All&ArrSta=5&MetAvg=Mea&MetSpr=RT&MxScDu=&MxSvAg=10&MnScCt=2&MxArCl=5 But only actually cancelled once in the last five days..
  14. If you only want Freeview and recording then just buy a Freeview recorder and don't bother with Broadband TV packages. You can buy a basic Freeview recorder for around ?35 from Argos or a more refined model for ?120 or so from John Lewis. PlusNet very good. I have relatives with TalkTalk TV and it's incredibly unwieldy and expensive for what it is. Only worth it if you want non-Freeview channels or Sky/BT sport.
  15. My tyre was slashed along with two others on Upland Road a month or so ago. Quite common in ED according to Melbourne Tyres man. Report to 101.

Last year I got a good rate by downloading a voucher for Travelex and presenting it at Gatwick. The best option was a kiosk in central London somewhere (Thomas Exchange in Victoria IIRC) but factoring in the train fare and time it wasn't worth it. Avoid the high street banks and Post Office...
  18. Don't be shy with the spray. I had to use 2 cans over the space of 2 weeks before getting rid of them (2 week cycle they breed in). Came back in a year but a blissful year it was.

Compensation is...70p for any journey over 30 mins late. Or ?2.80 since January. Hardly worth claiming but I do anyway.

    BT Broadband

It was down from around about 0100 to 0600 yesterday for me yesterday. Resetting the router fixed it.
  21. Wrap them up in newspaper and sellotape together. https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/q644.htm AA special trip just to drop knives off would probably generate more pollution that would be saved in recycling them...
  22. Slashed tyres on a few car (including mine) on Upland Road this week. Reported to 101, sympathies to others affected and encourage you to do the same...
  23. You can buy raw milk from farmers markets and some shops sell it for "processing only" Yes Saffron if everyone went back to drinking raw milk we'd have problems. The FSA requirements on raw milk are so onerous that (a) there's so little of it and (b) it's arguably safer than regular milk. You can get it delivered so there are no issues with indemnity insurance. Selfridges were selling it until they were stopped by the FSA.
  24. Great in Jeeves and Wooster / Blackadder. A childhood tinged with sadness and he's been open about his depression. I can think of worse heroes. Over-rated may be the most polite way of putting it.
  25. Chrome laptops are absolutely fine for what they are, which is basically a cheap laptop with the capability of a tablet. You can't expect more for the price. The Macbook Air is a wonderful device...but you could say it's rubbish because it won't work with a lot of devices or programs that are Windows only! If money's an issue then you'll get by with a Chromebook. Otherwise go for a Windows laptop - preferably a business model which is more robust - or a MacBook - which will make life a little easier. Choosing between Windows and Mac is really down to personal preference. See which one you prefer.
