We are having a clampdown of repeat posters (who seem to be predominately nannies/child carers) in that section but we will keep an eye on it.

There is already an "ED businesses, restaurants & trades" section, how would it be different?

Hilarious thread on "East Dulwich Borders" Forum
Administrator replied to Peckhamgatecrasher's topic in The Lounge
Yes, it was a Chinese spammer who posted 96 times on this forum and 115 times on the WDF. I had to delete all their messages via the database, doing it manually would have taken ages, but it seems that doing that has left a link to their (non-existent) message. I don't know how to clean up that mess, sorry for the confusion. -
As mentioned it is best to ask questions in the councillor's own thread, it's better to go to him rather than expect him to come to you.

Gimme, as you are "interested in what Dulwich Medical Centre have to say about their hypocracy" I suggest you contact them directly. I do want to put the thread back up, I'm just finding it hard to find the time to go through it and edit it and as the original poster of that thread has reposted the message again the urgency has gone. I'm also locking this thread but the other one discussing the DMC is still open. [edited once] -

There were no complaints about the 'idiots' post until now and upon receiving the complaint we changed the 'offending' title. -
I would like to back up HAL9000's point that one has to be cautious when relaying second hand account and also remember that this is a local forum. There was a case when someone described, in vivid detail, an accident including the accident victim and their injuries, I soon received an email from the victim's cousin asking if I could remove the post as it was upsetting to the family.

No one complained about it, but I assume you are complaining now so I have edited the title of that thread. > It's acceptable to call local children idiots? I suggest you start a thread about it in the Family Room Discussion to find the answer, the thread in question was referring to the parents and their bus blocking parking techniques. -
The software they use is SMF, this site's built on Phorum

Dulwich Medical Centre (Post removed)

Generally threads about public services are in this general ED issues section and the revived Dulwich Medical Centre thread will be put back in here. They'll start calling me Pushover to the People soon. -
Hi legalbeagle, we were asked if it was ok to put this on the website and of course it was, however as the boy disappeared from Doncaster 3 years ago and there was a rumoured sighting in SE London it's not really a 'pinnable' issue, we try and save the pinnable spot for major incidents in the area. Having said that I've made it sticky for today.

Making this a 'sticky' thread for today -
Hi Alice, sorry for the very long delay in getting back to you. We have looked into some calendar software for this forum to make the what's on section tidier however there was nothing suitable. I totally agree that it would be good to have things in chronological order, so much easier to read, however the main hurdle is that this site is built on discussion forum software not event listing software. We will carry on looking and if we ever find something suitable then you'll see the changes. Thanks for the suggestion.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Administrator replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just a reminder that this thread is mainly for local people to ask the local councillor for help and advice about local issues. It is not a discussion thread for general political issues (or political points scoring) as that puts people off using this useful resource. -

A thread with that sort of title gets removed no questions asked and it should not have been up for as long as it was. When I get time to go through it and if it has some interesting info in it and after I have removed the expletives then yes, I'll put it back. If it does go back up then it will be in the ED Businesses section of the forum. -
Hi I was away for the weekend and returned to find a thread with the title "Dulwich Medical Centre... bunch of ####s". This post has been removed because I do not want offensive threads/posts on the forum. Apologies to all those who were offended by it and the length of time it took to remove it.

So that's a "no" from HAL9000 then. Ps what ????'s said

I feel the same way to about this thread too Ladymuck, shall we leave together? Only joking about leaving of course, otherwise some would consider it blackmail but ffs, it's a friendly local forum, can we please keep it at that? And thank you to those who contributed sensibly.

Yes I did mean you, especially your comment "PM the Admin and ask him to remove this thread because it is defamatory and libellous." Perhaps I am being over-sensitive but it would have been much appreciated if you had PM'd me yourself to tell me you believed there was something illegal on the forum.
-
I'm probably going to remove it following HAL90000000's post, and if he gives me some sensible advice. Sometimes I wish some people would send me a friendly PM and say "Hey Admin, you're actually wrong and could rectify the situation like this" instead of posting a message and not bringing my attention to it. It does not come across as friendly gesture.

I was asking for help there HAL9000 and hoping for a useful answer, not a patronising dig at myself and Huguenot. Any chance of a useful answer please?
-
What would you do in my situation HAL9000?
-
OK, I have read the thread and posts and found nothing wrong so I have unhidden the thread. I have asked for clarification on what parts of the thread are "slanderous and libelious" [sic]. I know the forum's not perfect but my actions are honest and people can question my actions, unlike se23.com's forum where there was actually a message saying something like "there will be no messages posted questioning the running of the forum". I know that sometimes I do err on the side of caution a bit too much, especially when it comes to personal security and local businesses, the latter usually to save on the emails from irate owners and potential hassle.
-
I can assure you the sponsorship had nothing to do with it. A complaint was received yesterday via the Report this Message feature stating that posts were potentially libellious and defamatory. As the report came at the end of the day and I was in the pub I put the message on 'hidden' status until I can read it properly and make a decision. I agree that taking the message down purely because they are a sponsor is wrong. Now I'm just going to have a shower, have some breakfast and then have a read of the Orca thread and see what all the fuss is about.
