  1. G&H are apparently trying to do the same as we speak. They'd love a year transfer ban.

You had Ferguson who all said and done is a great manager and he managed to peak at the right time (you won the first premiership). We had Souness who bought a few duff ones. Ferguson bought Cantona and a few good ones. You then got lucky in that you could use the money you won to develop your ground easily, as it handily is on an industrial park with space around. You were then shrewd in promoting your brand. We on the other hand could not develop Anfield because it is in a whole load of terraced houses, and we were old fashioned in brand development. So you stretched away in revenue, building bigger ground, buying better players, winning more titles, attracting more fans etc.

For the last 15 years Utd have been the richest club, and have won the majority of the titles. Recently Chelsea have bankrolled a team, and have been the 2nd most successful. To win a tournament you have to beat both these two teams. Ultimately it doesn't really matter, I want him as manager for more reasons than how many things we win with him. We haven't won the title it almost 20 years, so it's not as if I have expectations to win it. Only 3 managers have won the last 14 titles, so it's not as if there are others out there either. As for Shankly turning in his grave, he only won 2 titles in his first 12 years (OK we started in the 2nd div), but part of the reason why he is held in esteem is that it was more than just the trophies. Best to have a manager who is in tune with the supporters, no?

Aside from the Robbie Keane debacle, > which was inexplicable, there must be better > business out there than Deggen or Ngog or the new > Greek fella. The Robbie "debacle" shows that he had to recoup money on what he thought was a player that wasn't going to work out. Deggen Ngog and the Greek fella less than 5mill in total. Just goes to show how little he has to build a squad with. Which 3 players would you have bought for that kind of money? As a comparison, the Utd gambles are Nani, Anderson etc. - 18mill each. Meester Ferguson can afford to do that because he a)has more money to spend and b)had a better squad to start with, so can pick individual targets. If Rafa had paid 18mill for a player and played him as infrequently as Nani and Anderson, then it would be mentioned every single game.
  9. All being said, it did look an memorable atmosphere ie I bet anyone that went will remember it. If they could just bottle the passion, without the violence. My thoughts on Rafa is that bottom line he is still outperforming when you compare the amount of money he has been given to other managers/clubs. We should be about 4th 5th, basically on a level with Spurs or someone like that. We are generally considered better than that, and last year weren't far away at all. Plus, I don't think anyone else would do any better. At least in Rafa we have a manager that understands the fans and genuinely likes the area and mentality of scousers. ie he gets and likes us, as a breed. I would rather have him where we are and being true to the club, than take the risk of anyone else, even if they then later turned out to be more successful.
  10. I love twitter, pointless babble and all. I like to put my random thoughts out there, and not particularly directed at anyone. And it often makes me laugh, and gives me news. Plus, how else can one keep updated on DM's comings and goings (smirks)?!

Other walky talky lines that have been done: "Broadsword calling Dannyboy, over" "This is rubber duck that's a 10-4 do you copy" A child too.
  12. They are quite handy as they are portable, yes.
  13. ?30 buys you a lot of hot water. How deep do you fill your bath?! And they can't really even use the "it's greener" line, as there is manufacturing and distribution energy to take into consideration with that dam thing.
  14. Great horse, but there's not really much excitement about a 1/4 winner.

  16. Get 3 against Stoke and we have more points than equivalent games last season. Losing away at Spurs didn't cost us title, draws at home did. That said we didn't control the game in any period. Lucas just doesn't open himself for the ball as much as Xabi did. Babel still a headless chicken, Masch walks the borderline of getting sent off every match, Torres looked uninterested and the whole vibe felt different from last year. Our last two semi-fit centre backs injuring each other kind of summed up the day.
  17. Boomerang and Libracarr told you the best way. Coming back is just in reverse.
  18. If anyone needs a lift to or from Liv-Stoke I'll be doing a thereback same day/night just give us a shout.
  19. From the little I've seen of Aquilani he looks Paddy Berger markII Still think we might sign a CB later this week who will play at the weekend. Annasfield - Don't get up to that many what with new baby etc, but brother-in-law bought a new flat in Liverpool One last week that he won't use at all, so may well be there more often this year. It's still a 'boss' night out up there.

Add Ayala to the list of won't make it. Dreading this weekend against Crouch if Carra and/or Agger not fit. Quite liked Kelly tho as RB cover. Stevie in midfield looked better option short term. Especially if one of the young lads is in defence. The "who are ya" was loudest ever. :((td):-$
  21. 1st match in new stadium I think it was agreed to lose. Degen is rubbish as you say. San Jose and Spearing won't make it either. Missing Sami already, hope we don't miss Xabi. Need replacements for both in some form. Should be better against Atleti on Sat.
  22. Our 6 month old gets a programme off the Baby Channel a day and absolutely sits transfixed and talks to it. Doesn't do any harm imo.
