  1. I'll bet you do, Tillie.. you little tinker. Personally, I'd rather live next door to a busy but early closing bar with a strict chuck-out time than I would an empty bar which turned into a mini-party every other week (just when you least wanted it to).
  2. Tillie, If the police actually wanted to catch people selling and taking drugs, all they'd have to do is wander into just about any bar in London after 2pm and ask the revellers to turn their pockets out. London can and does have its fair share of intolerant neighbours, but I find myself sympathising with Sweetchicken to a certain extent - mostly because of the evidence from everyone else - who are happy to fondly remember the lock-ins with 'edgy clientele' who are well-up for a sniff of this and a nibble of that. Basically.. just my kind of place! But c'mon - let's face it - some people here should be all too aware of how those evenings progress: the music wanders up a bit too high and stays there for a few tracks until someone turns it down again.. people come and go throughout the night.. they run-out of gear and have to call someone to get some more. And so the cycle continues throughout the night.
  3. Which streets are the ones up for potential CPZedding? How far would the potential zone extend?
  4. Don't mind Louisa. She's still fuming after Foxton's undervalued her house. Is there any more potential space to be had inside i-72? I suppose if there was they would have done something with it already.

  6. I barely notice the planes with all the loft conversions going-on.
  7. Incidentally, I think it ought to be possible for a reasoning and reasonable person to accept that whilst some people *may* be opposed to the school no matter what and are prepared to use any tool available to oppose it, it doesn't necessarily follow that the design for the school is a good one, or that having just the bare minimum number of governors is a great idea etc etc. But I appreciate that online debates like these are mostly about ever-increasingly polarised opinions rather than common sense.
  8. I think you're reading too much into my posting there, AFN. You say governors are useless. I say they aren't. That's all.
  9. AFN The parent governors are more for when the school is up and running, not for providing expert opinion on the building of it. Schools that do best are often ones which function with the support of parents. One way of encouraging such support is to offer the parents decent representation within the school. Declaring that you're only prepared to fulfil the basic requirements of governor representation sends-out all the wrong signals from the off.

  11. Gerry, I had very much the same problem with the boys in blue when I was out on my motorcycle not so long back. I explained to the officer that I was 'wearing' the helmet - only on my foot rather than my head.. but he just looked at me like I was an idiot. Shall we start a campaign? The European Court of Human Rights should be worth a shot.
  12. Fortunately, Auntie Beeb caters for all tastes. Non-Curbs can always tune-in to a sidesplitting episode of My Family, All About Me, My Hero, The Vicar of Dibley, Keeping Up Appearances or the vastly overrated French & Saunders. Actually.. I think my sides have just split. Ouch.

  14. Exactly. It's fine to have curtains, but if you can't afford nice ones, for God's sake do the decent thing and get blinds instead.

  16. Which order should the following be in: Drawing Room Lounge Front Room Living Room Sitting Room Parlor The Good Room
  17. Don't you mean 'living-rooming'?
  18. I'm sure Louisa has a perfectly dreary and inexpensive pencil-pleated number adorning her front bay. Possibly with a pelmet.
  19. No.. I think they opt for blinds when they find-out how much decent curtains cost. Which is which the poor have crappy cheap curtains and the rich have swanky impossibly expensive curtains. Those in the middle can't quite bring themselves to spend so much on 'a bit of material to hang in the window'.

  21. Dandelion & Burdock Condensed milk. Having to stand in the kitchen sink to have a wash. Princes' tinned ham. Watching snooker on a b&w television. Woodbines. Happy days.
  22. The 'explicit lyrics' version of Agadoo, recording by The Lace is a highly-prized piece of vinyl.
  23. Agadoo consistently tops worst song polls. As a true connoiseur, I prefer the French original rather than the cover. Though I agree 'Gang Bang' is also a classic, if you're not watching R,S&BT when you're hearing it then it just isn't the same.
  24. I'd take issue with bingo.. now a popular ironic night-out for students. Not to mention gay bingo at the Vauxhall Tavern. Since topping 'worst song ever' polls Black Lace have also had something of an ironic comeback. ITV have redeemed themselves temporarily with 'The Palace'. I can't fault you on Arctic Rolls and processed peas though.
