  1. I don't know what the best advice for anyone trying to make a living out of music but 'wishing things could be like they were' is probably the least helpful. My opinion is that the same money is still floating around, it's just floating around in different ways and in different places and - just like the good ol' days - many (most, even) won't get their hands on it. I love the idea that somehow the music biz - aka Shyster Central - used to be 'fairer'(!!)
  2. More reading material.. http://arstechnica.com/business/2013/12/new-spotify-report-debunks-per-stream-payments-for-artists/ http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/aug/19/zoe-keating-spotify-streaming-royalties

    The Beatles

Surely it's difficult to 'not like the blues' - what with the majority of western music made over the last 50 years being based on it..?
  4. Next to the CONSERVATIVE CLUB??!! (*monocle falls from face into bowl of soup*)

    The Beatles

When I was a teen, The Beatles were still managing to be a favourite amongst the laughable old fuddy-duddy parents (early stuff) but also the oh-so-cool kidz (Abbey Road, White Album, etc) at the same time. Despite having broken-up two decades earlier. Says it all. I love The Stones too, but in terms of depth, breadth, sheer innovation and progression of material over the years.. neither they - nor any other band for that matter - come close.
  6. You mean 'Grindr'..? Sheesh.. Amateurs!
  7. I was a victim of mis-selling; promised an evening of regular bedroom activities, lured to Tamworth and then faced with impromptu demands for spanking and bondage - with no means of - or funds for - quick escape. I'm not suggesting this kind of activity is particular to Tamworth of course. No doubt it also goes on in Darley Dale, Droitwich, Measham, Grantham & Matlock.
  8. Had a one night stand in Tamworth once. It was a very disappointing experience - for both parties - and then I discovered how infrequently the trains ran on a Sunday. Hope this helps.
  9. Conway were busy just before Christmas round our way - creating a new pavement.
  10. I think what James meant to say was 'only a fool would set a factory up in the Dulwich area without putting in place the fairly straightforward means of avoiding detection by thermal imaging cameras'
  11. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Only a fool would set a > factory up in the Dulwich area now... Absolutely. After all - the police have always been one step ahead of the growers. That's why the 'war on drugs' will surely be won soon. Anytime now. Definitely.

  13. I'm not married so I guess you're the one on the right. (With thanks to Les Dawson)
  14. Nunhead resident Mary Chippy told us: "I much prefer the lower life expectancy here in Nunhead to that of East Dulwich. Here, I can die in a three bed house with a garden for the same price as a pokey flat just across the park. Albeit slightly sooner."
  15. Could a stall offering services like picture framing and suchlike work on North Cross Road? What do you think, Foxy? Sure, we have one already, but one swallow etc etc
  16. They did try to do the interviews in Nunhead, but many of the participants keeled over dead before they finish.
  17. C'mon, enough 'publicity' for (ahem) Cool Guitar School, (daddio) Let it sink.
  18. We should all be thinking about our carbon footprint - if we want to go green.
  19. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/rich-londoners-live-up-to-25-years-longer-than-people-from-poorer-parts-of-the-capital-9058039.html 76 .. still, not bad though, eh? More than all my male forebears. I'd have been happy with that if you'd have asked me 20 years ago.
  20. Congratulations to our neighbours in Nunhead: A clean sweep - lowest male and female life expectancy in the whole of London! There is that very attractive cemetery, I suppose. Coincidence?
  21. .. and barely a mention of the Vikings. c nut
  22. Promoting your business AND slagging off your potential clients .. in the same place. It's an interesting approach.
  23. It's bamboo roots and Gordon Ramsay - all over again
  24. You have to question the point of reviewing a Jamie Oliver show if you hate Jamie Oliver. It's like throwing an egg at a barn door from a distance of five feet - and then congratulating yourself on a fine shot.
