It's just fashion - contrived and conforming maybe - but that's always been a large part of fashion too hasn't it? Is 29 the offical cut-off for not being interested in fashion? I didn't realise.

There is - it's the period that comes just after you've acquired a paunch and hence need to re-assess your trousering.

Well, let's see - getting into the spirit of the thread to date: you might as well just buy yourself a coffin and wait patiently for the inevitable.

So, to recap: you're all comfortable within your own skin and stuff not like these young'uns; things used to be better back in 1986 - and your wife buys clothes for you sometimes and that's ok. Prematurely middle-aged Dads, I salute you.
  5. Had some carpets fitted in my last place. First job of the day - the pair of 'em both took a dump in the bog, leaving skids on the pan. Nice fit though.

  7. I dangle them from my scrotum on a long rubber band - by way of a small hole in the gusset of my lycra runners. (Make the whole with a lit cigarette rather than cutting with scissors - this will stop the threads pulling and exposing your knackers.) They attract dogs off the leash and emit a Christmassy sound. Win - Win.
  8. The common moan is that the agents do sod all but have access to the advertising which sells your house by itself etc etc. I thought it was interesting to see an agent who's prepared to challenge that moan with a proposition along the lines of 'if you think it's that easy, you do it'
  9. I think Wooster & Stock offer a 'sell it yourself' 'flat fee' service which gives you access to their usual advertising packages including portals such as Right Move - but you do the rest yourself. I think it was ?1k or something like that. Everyone likes to make noise about doing away with the agents (at least as far as possible) but I wonder how many people have taken them up on the offer - when it came down to it? Sounded like pretty good value to me.

You can just let yourself in as usual, Lou. Key under the mat. I'm upstairs.

You've had all day. Nobody's done it. So I will..

Well, there's the one 95% of people listen to - and then there are the other ten.

It's like Glastonbury all over again. Limited tickets selling out in minutes, servers crashing - and then (when you get there) not as good as it was 20 years ago.
  14. I still miss Target Arms
  15. Caught Clegg on LBC again this morning (where else? - his spiritual home). It was the first time I think I've heard him try to wriggle away from his classic straight-talkin' tabloid 'editorial' style - when quizzed in this instance for a straight (boom! boom!) answer on gay marriage. Which goes to prove two things: 1. He's genuinely believes he's passed the point where he can just say whatever he wants and get the usual vote - and now has to seriously consider who else he might blag some from. 2. Despite his bloke in pub act, he'll wriggle away for a cross in the box - just like the rest of them.

  17. Isn't there burnt-out, permanently derelict building less than two minutes walk from there? But no, this carved tree stump is definitely the thing that offend my eye the most. Absolutely.

Says the person who merrily fitted plastic windows - and encouraged everyone else to do the same!
  19. I descended the stair this morning, disheartened by how dishevelled my hallway looked, how littered with rubbish. Front gardens and pathways endlessly tramped all day and night by unwanted visitors with nothing better to do than shove unwanted shite through my letterbox.. Etc
  20. What's your overall opinion on CDA? Better or worse?
  21. Maybe someone should invite the Heathrow noise team to participate on here? Seems to me if they're looking to engage and inform, they'd be better-off on an internet thread on here with 14,000 views than speaking to six people and a dog in a pub. Personally I find the 'Airbus whistle' (the two-toned descent noise) the most intrusive sound - as mentioned in the Brockley meet report. It's cured on the latest planes - and I think some of the fancier airlines (ie willing/able to spend the cash) are retrofitting their fleet with the 'fix' - but I don't know if they'll do the other 6000 which are knocking about.
  22. It's all about the colours, Jeremy. I have two colours but decided not to be weird and 'collect the set'.
