(*raises hand*) Grundig and Trio recipient right here. Most people (by which I mean 99% of people) just don't give a hoot about what format their music is delivered to them or what they listen to it on!
  3. Ok, elements, yes, fair enough. CDA does technically affect 'flight paths' but - for the purposes of what we're talking about here, it's immaterial I'm sure you would agree? ie The method of descent may have changed from stepped (to CDA) but they're still 'in the same place' - just coming down slightly differently.
  4. So what Heathrow have confirmed is that the flight paths haven't changed for at least 15 years, apart from the trials? Well - you heard it here first folks (slaps forehead)
  5. I appreciate there is a valid discussion to be had on this matter (there even was one going on.. once.. about a hundred years ago), but one contributor (or a couple, bouncing off each other) monopolising the 'general issues' page with fascinating daily updates on whether or not they had a good nights sleep; whether they expect a good nights sleep tomorrow; which way the wind is blowing today; which way the wind will be blowing tomorrow; what they had for breakfast; whether they had a poo before breakfast - or let it bake until later than morning etc etc - this sort of thing is not a 'general discussion'. This sort-of thing is called 'bumping'. This thread is now a self-perpetuating cycle of (mostly) two posters bumping, a dozen people sick of the sight of said bumping - and the rest rubbernecking at a semi-amusing bunfight. Let 'general interest' dictate what people see on the 'general issues' page. The obsession of a minority doesn't need to be in everybody else's face right at the top of the board - on a daily basis, just because the minority believe it should be. That's poor online etiquette. And if you do absolutely insist on being in people's face on a daily basis - expect some irritated faces shouting back at you - and for people to get increasingly rude. You've asked for it. Personally I have nothing new to add at present but am doing a little digging which I may report back on at a later date. You know, like when I have something vaguely new and relevant to add. Maybe others should consider doing the same?

  8. We need to get our top crime casebook operative on this ASAP Sue?
  9. An eye-opener (these micro/macro graphics are all the rage) but a complete nonsense. 1m plays will pay about about $7k. So the final 'ta-daaaa!' graphic is out by a factor of nearly 30. Whether 'the artist' gets all of that is a different matter. But that's because the biggest enemies of 'the artist' are the same as they always have been: the people in between them and the distributor, not the distributor themselves.
  10. I've been trying to watch a re-run of the Australian Grand Prix but this incessant aircraft noise is totally ruining the experience. Can any of the seven people who attending the Brockley meeting let me know how it went? I only flew back into the country last night so missed the meeting.

  12. It's very confusing. Mr Universe is the musclebound 'carrying rolls of carpet under the arms' one, but Miss Universe isn't. And if you win Miss World - and then (I assume?) progress to Miss Universe, who do you compete against? As an aside, it should be 'Ms Universe' anyway - come on, guys, this is 2014.
  13. I apologise for that remark. We shouldn't judge people on their looks. Oh, hang on..
  14. Could go in 'items wanted' - but hard to say without seeing the photo.
  15. Channel 5, Big Brother series 16 awaits..
  16. It was telling watching her first 'performances', like the first tentative steps of an actor wondering if they'd got their lines right. Opening night was a way back now of course - and buoyed-up by repeat bookings - she's more sure of herself now. Must be great meeting people at parties.. "So what do you do..?" "I pretend to be an utter tw@t"
  17. Crusader Nuts are another strong memory - though I don't think they were a local product (?!).
  18. We had one for a local firm of solicitors; a selection of mundane stills taken in the office accompanied by a dry voiceover. The final shot - a last-ditch attempt to 'bring the fun', featured a shot of a judge peering over the top of his spectacles with a face of mock outrage - with a scantily-clad woman sitting on his lap.
  19. Feel the magic and personal satisfaction of seeing your first-time, dying seconds bid top of the list of legitimate bidders, snatching it out of their by-the-book reach... While you're down the pub. http://www.jbidwatcher.com

    BBC3 Axed

True now RE Beeb4 but for a while it teetered with some abysmal viewing figures even at prime - sometimes under 1000 - with more than a few people questioning what the justification for it could be. Since then, it's a good example of how money carefully spent in the right place - with a clear overall vision and brand - can build a channel which people actively scan the programme guide for. BBC3 could never decide what it was - and the thing it hoped it might be (comedy) was never up to scratch.

    BBC3 Axed

Never really built or maintained an identity - unlike Beeb4 or R6. Can't win 'em all.
  23. Plan for tomorrow at today's prices. I'm with you, KK.
