  1. Although I hate Ryanair and now I have a child, don't fly with them, I understand the terms and conditions things, and when I first came to the UK 8 ish years ago and went travelling one weekend a month, they were amazing and cheap and opened up Europe for me. I don't really have sympathy for people who don't understand what they are getting themselves into. It's not like all this hasn't been moaned about before. What I do have a problem with is Ryanair publishing their complaints figures and claiming that they are the "least complained about airline" when they deliberately make it almost impossible to complain to them. (In fact, you have to send a FAX if I remember correctly). I think this is genuinely misleading and should be looked into by the consumer protection body.
  2. I don't really get this moan, or at least don't think it should be Easyjet focused. British Airways don't let you change a name at all - they make you buy a new ticket (although you can claim your taxes back for the unused ticket minus an admin fee) At least Easyjet give you an option, which can be beneficial when the price hasn't increased too much.
  3. Is it 10 years ago? Don't we all know this by now?

    Istanbul

Depends what you want to do - last time I was there I ventured over the bridge and stayed here: http://www.thehousehotel.com/the-house-hotel-galatasaray/ and loved it. More modern / shopping / bars / clubby Istanbul than in Sultanahmet where your original choice was though.
  5. Yeah maybe I got a bit carried away - the little green by the nursery on the Peckham side, - they have a fenced off section with play equipment, bird houses, etc, and they do go on planned excursions further afield. PM me for more info if you like, or just go and have a look. Joy who runs it is lovely.
  6. The kids there get the run of the park. Very out-doorsy ethos. Mini-Ant starts there in 6 weeks.
  7. Don't believe the frozen pea lobby! Fresh peas kick frozen peas arse.
  8. Ahhh cool, I have just checked at the self service machines at LB so maybe it has sorted itself out later on. It certainly does look a mess if you check immediately.
  9. Are you sure about London Bridge? Travelling from Queens Road Peckham to Euston every day I'm sure I get charged twice if I've forgotten to renew my weekly?
  10. I forgot about the Rye. Is that in Nunhead? The re-opened garden out the back is awesome.
  11. Has anyone tried Tops on Queens Road? Also, does anyone know what the Hollydale Tavern is like? I didn't even know it was there until I'd taken a wrong turn one night trying to get kiddo to sleep.
  12. Take aways: Na Pura for Portugese - Nando's style chicken but a lot more options too. They're on Taste Card if you eat in and want 2-4-1. Also Great Wall is a dodgy looking but surprisingly good Chinese take away. Second best Chinese I think is Golden Noodle at Queens Road Peckham Station. Convenient if you come that way home from London Bridge like I do. Actually the Lebanese there is pretty good too. Nkem is a Nigerian restaurant that does take away which I also like - certainly a bit different, and I like Crossways Cafe for hungover breakfasts. The Telegraph at the Early of Derby is a great pub, although they could do with some couches. They do a good Indian night! I pretty much agree with everything lnprett said too.
  13. Otta, it's not just after 7pm on Sundays. It's after 7pm every evening, and all day Sunday.
  14. I see what you're saying, but disagree.
  15. Personally, I appreciate UDT standing up for the side of the arguement that I believe is correct.
  16. Thanks for the replies. The Clapham one looks like it's for parents with children and shows childrens movies rather than parents with babies, where I was rather hoping to watch the Dark Knight or similar! I guess it will have to do though. Thanks for your suggestions.
  17. It might not be the quickest but I'm going to get the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich and then get the cable car.
  18. Heya Oimissus, Some ODEON's do have "Newbies" but not at Surrey Quays, thanks for the suggestion though.
  19. That's a shame - thanks for trying though Gooders!
  20. Hiya all, Are there any baby and parent cinema screenings on weekends anywhere nearby that anyone knows about? The Mrs and I would quite like to go together with our 4 month old but all the screenings I can find at Greenwich or Brixton or The Electric are during the week. Thanks, Anthony
  21. Is the problem with getting a minicab that you're then stuck with two carseats you don't want to take to NZ? I came home from Terminal 5 Sunday night with Mrs Ant and baby to Nunhead in a pre booked minicab and it cost ?45 and took 50 mins. He drove the M4 the whole way to Hammersmith. The M4 Olympic lane has come into effect since then, however.
  22. Is the point that the Wimbledon bunch are mobilising and organising a campaign to stop it being "their" services that are cut - for eg: http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/local/wimbledonnews/9806530.Campaigners_hope_to_save_Thameslink_service/ and if the campaign is successful, they'll have to cut "ours"?
  23. Heya, I know you asked for specific recomendations, but have you seen the list of nurseries that you can download off the Southwark website? The link is here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/2895/nurseries It includes their opening times, so you can narrow your search a little. I found it really useful.
  24. You're all superstars! Thanks heaps for all the info :)
  25. Thanks for all the info guys, much appreciated. I should have said that I was looking for lessons. I've tried to call Peckham Pulse to get some info but it just rings out - I might try going in there tonight, and if it doesn't work out look into Little Dippers or Waterbabies. The new pool in Forrest Hill sounds interesting, I'll look into that too! Thanks again for all the info.
