I worked in a call centre to support myself during the degree, then ended up with a degree....working in the same call centre. Brilliant! could have skipped the degree entirely. But then I wouldnt have met all the good folks that i'm still close to. Or drunk so much. And then I'd be even more bitter! so it's just as well i've got the degree.

I agree about McEwan- I loved atonement but felt Saturday didnt really have the same impact. and am having exactly the same shallow feelings about the pict David Cameron. I also agree about Orhan Panuk. still havent finished Snow and started it months ago. I just read Jamaica Inn by Daphne Du Maurier and it's great. not as good as Rebecca but really quite scary. lots of late nights and wild weather in Cornwall. and another classic if you've never read it is 'to kill a mockingbird' which I read for the first time the other day. That book truly rocks. i'm sure everyone on the thread has read it but if not read it today!

Great. I thought it was good. for any lurkers or potential scrabblers out there, the inaugural EDF scrabble meeting was great. Mogs brought a truly excellent board and David Mc was a deserved winner. Some good challenging in evidence. Early June for the next one I think.

show of hands is actually quite good. I was in Corduroy Gorge makes me cringe just to write it. mu husband used to be in Several Lounge which is actually a quite appropriate description of this forum. I still cant beleive there was an actual indie band called 'dogs die in hot cars'. the worst band name ever I think.
