  1. I worked in a call centre to support myself during the degree, then ended up with a degree....working in the same call centre. Brilliant! could have skipped the degree entirely. But then I wouldnt have met all the good folks that i'm still close to. Or drunk so much. And then I'd be even more bitter! so it's just as well i've got the degree.

  15. i agree with snowboarder on the choice. so is the idea that this gets made up with some kind of ED motif and then sold in all shops on Lordship Lane? have I missed another thread about this? Great idea
  16. LOL Is that when they put one of those shamrocks on top in some really naff bar? Or is it what happens after you drink 15 pints of it?
  17. I agree about McEwan- I loved atonement but felt Saturday didnt really have the same impact. and am having exactly the same shallow feelings about the pict David Cameron. I also agree about Orhan Panuk. still havent finished Snow and started it months ago. I just read Jamaica Inn by Daphne Du Maurier and it's great. not as good as Rebecca but really quite scary. lots of late nights and wild weather in Cornwall. and another classic if you've never read it is 'to kill a mockingbird' which I read for the first time the other day. That book truly rocks. i'm sure everyone on the thread has read it but if not read it today!
  18. Great. I thought it was good. for any lurkers or potential scrabblers out there, the inaugural EDF scrabble meeting was great. Mogs brought a truly excellent board and David Mc was a deserved winner. Some good challenging in evidence. Early June for the next one I think.
  19. Bourgeouis Mongoose!!!! brilliant. splinter group poncey aadvark
  20. great!
  21. ho ho. emphasis on the kinda. rude only to those on the hunt for euphemisms. nothing against the music of ddihc. just the name. also think that 'get cape wear cape fly' is truly a bad name. music ok tho. i digress however as these are real bands
  22. show of hands is actually quite good. I was in Corduroy Gorge makes me cringe just to write it. mu husband used to be in Several Lounge which is actually a quite appropriate description of this forum. I still cant beleive there was an actual indie band called 'dogs die in hot cars'. the worst band name ever I think.
  23. o. i think you were included in that 4. I was counting the people in the thread who had said they would come. Well I'll be in the clock house from 8 tonight and if noone shows up by 830 i'll go home again. i'll be the woman with a scrabble set and an OSW! anyone.....anyone.....
  24. ok then i'll see you all tomorrow I think there will be 4 of us at least. anyone welcome though!
  25. OK so we are on for the 8th in the clock house. 8pm. we can agree rules etc then but I think we should start off nice and easy. I am very rusty. any OSW holders please bring them.
