  1. Can anyone recommend a great site that allows camp fires within 2 hours of London? Thx.
  2. These are great and are fab for taking stuff on planes for holiday time. http://www.johnlewis.com/trunki-boostapak-car-booster-seat-black-green/p230997661?sku=230997661&kpid=230997661&s_kenid=11de7655-4d3d-e608-e3f8-0000407c15c9&s_kwcid=403x166211&tmad=c&tmcampid=73&kpid=230997661
  3. Hey JennyH, As far as I know you can't really encourage dry nights as the ability to be dry results form the body producing a hormone called Vasopressin which inhibits urine production at night. When kids start to produce this in enough quantities to be dry is quite arbitrary. Lifting, ie putting kids on the loo while asleep/semi asleep, only reinforces the body's ease to urinate while asleep. It is often said it is better to completely wake the child so they are awake and urinating rather than urinating while asleep. It sounds like your daughter might not be ready to come out of pull ups if she is wetting the bed if you don't wake her 2/3 times during the night. My son was over 5 before he was dry and night while my daughter is dry now at almost 4. Random ages but I just went with it when they started waking on a regular basis with a dry nappy. Hope this has helped a bit.
  4. Can anyone recommend a local ballet class for an almost 4 year old? Thx!
  5. My daughter is 3.5 years old and really wants to attend a gymnastics class. We live on Friern Road so ideally one that is within walking distance. Can anyone recommend one? Many thx!
  6. We have a 6 year old and 3.5 year old and are keen for ideas of how to ski economically with them. Started back skiing last December and had a great time. Oldest started lessons and loved them, youngest was in petit club. We went with Club Med who took care of all of the logistics. We loved it but we can't afford them on a regular basis so are looking how we can still ski at a reasonable cost. Any tips from fellow forumites? My daughter will be 4 in June so just about ready for lessons.
  7. I know what you mean. I have previously taken kids toys to charity shops and often, quite rudely, are told they are not wanted. The great thing about the relationship BA has with this orphanage project is that the donations go directly to the kids. Nothing gets lost in admin costs etc. I love the idea as I feel the stuff goes where it is most needed. I am slowly building up quite a mountain of stuff but happy to accept any more donations.
  8. Hi, I am the poster taking toys to Africa. As previously mentioned I work for BA and visit Nairobi semi frequently. We donate to several projects run by an Irish nun. All extremely worthwhile as the donations are going directly to the kids that need them. Happy to accept any clothes, toys, shoes, pencils anyone wishes to donate. It would be really helpful if any donations can be in the zippered laundry bags as these can be checked into the hold. Thx JM
  9. We are using this at the moment as having a problem with condensation and mould. So far absorbing significant amounts of water. http://www.diy.com/departments/unibond-aero-360-moisture-absorber/307283_BQ.prd Great reviews.
  10. Hi SC, I will be going on a semi regular basis so anything you have to donate is gladly appreciated. I spoke with the orphanage and everything is welcome; clothes, shoes and toys. Even pens and pencils. One of the projects is the care for abandoned disabled kids who haven't received much stimulation in their lifetime so any toys are much appreciated. JM
  11. Hi Forumites, I work for British Airways and will be going to Nairobi on Friday. BA allow us unlimited baggage to transport donations for the local orphanage. If anyone has any baby/children's clothes and shoes to donate I will very happily carry them. Warm clothes needed too as gets cold at night. I think shoes of any kind are desperately needed. I can collect if you are local to ED or I will be home Wednesday to accept any donations. If you do donate, I would also really appreciate the checked/stripey zippered laundry bags to carry them in as these bags can be zipped and checked into the hold. Cheers JM

  16. We had our son's 1st birthday upstairs in The Magdala, which is now the Patch. Worked really well.
  17. Gumboots on Crystal Palace Road. Both my kids went here and loved it, long waiting list though.
  18. Thx but made the leap and ordered an Icey Tek one.
  19. Thinking of splashing out on an Icey tek coolbox and wondered if any forumites have one? Mumsnet raves about it but thought I'd check first if anyone can confirm the good reviews. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/camping/2094923-There-hasnt-been-an-Icey-Tek-thread-for-ages?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Swears+By+16714&utm_content=Swears+By+16714+CID_8e07aa0d4341f4c6344fefdfd26b1817&utm_source=newsletters&utm_term=Read%20the%20full%20thread http://www.coolboxesuk.com/shop-online/camping-leisure.html/ Thx
  20. Thx for your post. Had been reading that its probably better to get one that doesn't fold but hubby is balking at the thought of packing it in the car for travel. I am looking at the Razor Ultra lo pro which seems to offer most things. Will try and check out the shop in WW. Cheers.
  21. Can anyone offer any advice? My soon to be 6 year old is ready for the next scooter up from mini micro. He wants a two wheeled rather than the maxi micro. I have friends who say the Micro Sprite is not that great quality and so I am looking at alternatives, including Razor. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any scooters that stand out for build quality? Many thx
  22. We have to have a bit of work done on our Audi and Dulwich Village branch have quoted a huge amount to get it fixed. I wondered if anyone can recommend an alternative garage which would do the work? Its a bodyshop problem if that's helpful. Cheers
