Maybe a broker could help iron out the 'flood warning alert' issue? Would need a mighty flood to reach you up on the fourth floor though...

Shop around online and you'll find some good deals, especially if you pay up front rather than spreading it over the year. Often comes with free additional benefits like telephone legal advice which can be extremely useful. I treat it as a basic necessity, like paying rent & utilities.

Bulgur wheat salads - lots of tomatoes, cucumber, peppers etc. with feta/steamed salmon/avocado depending on how I feel. Delicious. And tempted to make lemon granita - perfect for cutting through the heat.

Advice phone line for homeless EEA nationals opens [source: https://migrantsrights.org.uk/blog/2018/06/26/advice-phone-line-for-homeless-eea-nationals-opens/?mc_cid=4ab03c2e96&mc_eid=c6ca3ef600] The Public Interest Law Unit is pleased to announce the opening of its phone advice and referral line from 25 June 2018. The phone line will be open Monday-Friday (10am-4pm) at 07856539582. The phone will be answered in English but a call-back can be arranged with an interpreter. The Public Interest Law Unit (PILU) is a project of Lambeth Law Centre, specialising in public law, human rights and public inquiries. PILU acts for individuals and campaign groups who?ve been treated unlawfully by public bodies (More info here). The phone line is open for direct and second-tier advice as well as referrals. PILU will work with all EEA nationals affected by homelessness or at risk ? people vulnerably housed, moving from place to place as well as those sleeping rough. PILU?s work focuses on challenging unlawful public bodies? decisions, actions or policies in a range of arrears ? may it be access to Welfare Benefits, Healthcare or Housing. PILU are also aware of continued enforcement and discrimination against EEA nationals, which we will challenge wherever possible. Please do not hesitate to call or email us to discuss any recurrent issues you encounter in your work or potential referrals.

Also, I would report to the RSPCA. Again, they will add to their logs and maybe will link it to any injured foxes brought on from this area.

Man knocking on doors late Tuesday night asking for money

How annoying - You can also report online at: https://www.met.police.uk/report/how-to-report-a-crime/ -
If they know that that's a nesting site they'll probably be back. If you see them again you could photograph them and provide a more detailed description to the police. Also, is the any handy cctv in the neighbourhood? Nasty little tykes. I found this old article from the Guardian which maybe informative: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2006/dec/11/g2.ruralaffairs

I think you're mistaking the word. A quick google and translation = a profanity.

A lot of the 'facts' being tested in the citizenship test have been found to be erroneous!! Maybe that's the basis of the British values we're all searching for ... Personally, it really drives me up the wall to hear politicians trying to adopt a British version of the American Dream.

Cambridge House offer advocacy services including under the Care Act. You could contact them for initial advice and may find them helpful: http://ch1889.org/our-work/advocacy/advocacy-services-southwark/

You could have a chat to the Southwark Noise Team (tel: 0207 525 5777) as they may be able to intervene, especially if it happens again/regularly. I had an inconsiderate neighbour (newly arrived as well) drilling at 10pm not so long ago. The Noise Team were very helpful. Also, why not knock on his door when he's about but not drilling or drop in a note with the Southwark limitations for construction noise: 'Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm Saturdays 9am to 2pm Sundays and Bank Holidays no works' [http://www.southwark.gov.uk/noise-and-antisocial-behaviour/construction-noise]

Usually they employ young adults for this kind of thing (at least that's who used to knock on my door for various charities when I lived in the very popular Soames St. - always subject to charity fundraisers).
