Has anyone used the creche at Beckenham Spa?
pebbles replied to Bishberro's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I too can't rave more about BS creche. Have been leaving both children there since they were both 3 months and they love it. The same women for the last 3 1/2 yrs and they are just lovely. They change the toys and layout daily so always new and interesting and it's a perfect way to go to the gym (or even take a book and sit in the cafe and have a break!!!). -
Wow Molly, this is just great and certainly not bloomin' obvious as we have spillages daily and have now gone back to beakers cos I'd run out of teatowels to keep mopping up the water. Mugs it is from now on. Thanks for sharing

Primary school - what age? I'm confused
pebbles replied to alieh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If there is just a Sept intake then you start reception the school year that you turn 5 so therefore there will be some children there who will be 5 days after starting but also others that would have only just turned 4 - ie August birthdays. But basically, yes, your son will start reception 2 months before he turns 5. I'm not a knowledge on this but i'm pretty sure that once your son turns 3 the Government will pay towards 15 hours childcare?? Someone else will give you more info on this but this may well be the cutting down the costs that you were looking for. -
Clare - I sent you a pm
-
littleedfamily - my sis in law who's skinny, trendy and in her 20's got one of those all in one thingys from my even trendier bro in law for xmas and absolutely loves it. it's apparently the new "in thing" - so, if i lose 4 stone and become about 100x more trendy who knows you might see me walking down lordship lane wearing an all in one rather than tracky bums and a fleece!!!

Annoyingly i've booked myself silly the next few thursday arvos however i'm free tomorrow arvo if anyone fancies meeting up? pm me if you're up for it and if there aren't many you're all welcome to come to mine. I only have my 15 month old daughter with me on Thursdays
-
Dragon99 - agree with you on the arvo front so perhaps we should organise to meet one afternoon. I'm without my 3 1/2 yr old on Tues and Thurs arvos so they would suit me best as I struggle to talk to anyone else as he asks SOOOOOO many questions. How does Tues or Thursdays arvos suit anyone else?

that's just hysterical and sooooooo wrong

my brother who is my no means rich but i suppose you could call comfortable gave their nanny last year ?300 and then new nanny this year ?500 cos she's just amazing and the kids love her and she does over and above anything that's asked of her. i was asking him as i was querying about childminders and he said he thought cash bonus' was quite common? Sorry i may be totally wrong...

Once i've shovelled should I then put salt down to stop it icing over or is that pointless? Thanks

I just wanted to let you know that the websites were a HUGE hit (had xmas day with my family yesterday). The 8 and 6 yr olds basically were on them all day. There were links to footy teams and games etc and they just couldn't believe that they typed in their names and had a website. DM - you are right - the 8 yr old does ICT at school so he's going to add to the already designed website but is so excited that now he can do it to his own one. Really really recommend it - even if you just buy the domain and they can do the website at school. I'm patting myself on the back :)

My husband just phoned, train broken down at Peckham Rye so trains from LB at the moment aren't going any further - he was able to get off at PR so must be inbetween PR and ED stations
-
I also agree with candj and molly - i do go totally and utterly bright red though when i bought it at the chemist post 2009 and they asked how old my children were - just be sensible
-
I don't know whether I would be brave enough to try this however my sister in law had the same problem and from day one she just transferred from buggy to cot and it took a couple of weeks of giving milk while transferring but it kept her going until my neice was old enough to keep going that little bit longer until they got home. Sorry I can't be of any help but maybe you could try the transfer before ruling it out??? Good luck

I read this thread this morning but wasn't able to help however then i read this article in the (sorry, pls don't pelt me) Daily Mail and which was very interesting and mentioned a pill called Toctino - read the article - hopefully it can help http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1056171/One-day-pill-end-eczema-misery-100-000-sufferers.html

Cheers Ruth. See u in jan then
-
Ruth - what age would you say is the too old? I'm about to get rid of my toddler to nursery in January so will have the joy of spending some quality time with my current 14 month old in the mornings rather than her just following her brother to his things!!
-
dulwichmum - oh my god that's just gutting, I had absolutely no idea schools taught so much now. Well I suppose at least they've now got their own names as domains and then they can continue to design as they like :( I feel like i should phone one of my bros up now to see what they think but then again it's done so i'm going to give it to them and my bros quite like surprises as well Ho hum .......
-
WOD - anything from ?2.99 I found. I used www.123-reg.co.uk. I then got a mate to do the design but before he offered i was researching how much to do a page and I think you're looking at around ?20-?40ish however the domain selling people also offer a simple webpage design template so if you're not wanting anything flashy and just want a message and a photo then it comes with the cost. Glad you liked the idea, i'm really excited about them seeing their pages :)
-
I've bought all my neices and nephews this year their own website - ie the domain is www.firstnamesurname.com and then i've got a mate to design a page with pictures floating across of their favourite things and music in the background of their fav footie team or tv show - i haven't seen the end product yet but i'm really chuffed and feel it's been an inspirational idea (even if i do say so myself!!! (i normally lack that with kids cos i always worry that they have everything adn need nothing!!!). Good luck I know how difficult it is trying to buy!!
