  1. Thanks Pickle - i can't imagine how upsetting not being able to fly would be. All of my sons friends have had it so i've made sure he always "snogged" them as much as possible cos I just wanted to get it over and done with and he never caught it and here we have them and no idea where they came from :) So far so good though. Spots today are appearing by the second but no itching as yet. I've actually put my 1yr old daughter into his childminders for the day so my son and i are currently snuggled under a blanket watching Toy Story - bliss :) Anyone want to join us?
  2. Honest question - we live on Friern Road and have a driveway, dropped curb and white line. I always tell my friends to park in front of our driveway as it's so difficult to park on our road. Can they actually be done for this although it's in front of our driveway - ie private? I'm thinking the answer is yes but wanted to confirm and see whether anyone else in this road/area have had tickets with people parking in front of their driveway?
  3. I'm a believer in if you can drive you can breast feed? Not sure whether right or wrong buy my little ones seem fine :)
  4. My 3 year old has chicken pox and although it's only our first day in we're going a little stir crazy - also have a 1 yr old. Anyone else out there with chicken pox infected kids and feel like meeting up and playing at one of our houses? Let me know
  5. i agree with Pickle - i ask my son (3yrs, 1month) what would make him feel better and his normal response is food but occasionally he'll say medicine which is when the sympathy starts flowing :) so difficult isn't it?
  6. Not total breastfeeding but expressing was like milking a cow xxx
  7. I've got exactly same problem. Eldest son 3 and daughter 1 and it's not so much her as i know she won't care two hoots but for her birthday a few weeks ago my son was very aware that he had got more presents when it was his bday!!! I'm going down the sharing route. I've made as a joint present a teepee and then grandparents are giving her a kitchen (however obviously son will play with it now and she will just take things in and out of oven over and over and over again!!) and then from us i'm going to wrap up all the different pots and pans and whatever that comes with the kitchen separately so it looks like she has lots and then also it means that son has to share everything with her!!! I think it must be even more difficult for you as they are both same sex ie you can't do the obviously clothes for the future etc as she would obviously wear her sisters. Oh the dilemnas and the expense!!! Good luck
  8. Thanks new mother - who did u contact and I will email immediately There is a facebook page against this - http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Boycott-Procter-Gamble-AND-Pampers-for-chemical-burns-on-little-babies/124210480923983 still disgusted
  9. I went shopping last night and bought some Huggies and woke Chloe up and changed her. This morning although still sore it really is so much better and she didn't scream as soon as I went near it. Unbelievable - if you are having problems change the brand now
  10. We buy all of ours from the big Sainsburys. We've just had a huge clear out (you know how it is with nappies in every single bag you've ever owned) - anyway, it looks like the ones that have affected her are the ones with orange patterns (dots and squiggles) on the bottom compared to the other ones which seem to be fine which are bluer on the bottom. She's size 4+ and they're pull ups but not sure of the name but they're pampers.
  11. OMG this is just dreadful. My daughter is going through exactly the same thing. Just in so much pain and sudacrem just doesn't touch the sides. I was recommended Metanium today so will go and get that tomorrow (can i get it at any normal chemists?) We've been giving her as much nappy free time as possible but as a 4x a day pooer it's a bit difficult :) Oh our poor babies, i just feel so so so guilty. I can't believe I continued to use wipes and not water - oh i feel dreadful. I will be at the supermarket first thing tomorrow to buy new nappies. :(
  12. Oooooo thanks, I was only talking about Mr Benn yesterday saying how great he was, definitely stocking pressie
  13. Mr Supergolden88 - that really made me laugh I hope contraction city is being nice to your wife and fingers and toes crossed things happen quickly and smoothly Good luck to you all
  14. Trust me, Southwark Council don't cut down trees lightly. I'm a huge fan of trees but not when the tree on the road is ruining both ours and our neighbours houses. However no amount of proof and conversation with the council has sorted this problem for us. i'm confused as to how trees can be more important than houses!!! Our road has just had the trees pruned and the notes on the trees said "major works" so don't panic about Elmwood Road. My mum however lives on Elmwood Road and I'm visiting her this morning so I will make sure to speak to them if I see anything major.
  15. Sue - sorry, i should have made myself clearer. Of course i put the nappies in bags so the nappy bags were in the road however if I hadn't have come out when I did, they could have been run over and then it really wouldn't have been a pretty sight.
  16. I think today was a particularly bad day obviously. I'm on Friern Rd and after the green bins had been collected (which basically is full of nappies) there were 3 nappies left in the middle of the road. Obviously I picked them up and put back into bin but still - pretty disgusting.
  17. The child friendly cafe that Molly is talking about is called Crumpet and I agree, fabulous for kids
  18. NOTHING beats my brother in law and partner. They don't have children but they do have a dog!!! Which they treat as a child. Their dog becomes sick if they leave him (no joke, i've witnessed the sickness when they've left him at home to go out for lunch). So now if they want to go out they go upstairs to their bedroom (dog sleeps in cage in bedroom!) and they get into bed and then they, no joke, roll out of bed and crawl out of the door so that the dog doesn't realise that they've left. We found out about this a few weeks ago and they know we're laughing at them but my goodness, i promise u we haven't stopped laughing. Suddenly all of our parenting rediculous things pale in comparison!!! More please
  19. Chocolate buttons. I tried stickers initially but he wasn't really having any of it but once i introduced chocolate buttons i was on the home straight. However I had to change my "1 for every poo" when he sat on the loo did a small one, got up and celebrated and ate his chocolate only to sit down again and do another small one!!!! No joke, 6 tiny poos later he had finished and I had to change the rules. Good luck, i know it seems so painful but it will come and it's just amazing that he's got to grips with the weeing so quickly.
  20. I just wanted to respond and say how sorry i am that the horrible dr was so horrendous to you. Of course you're not a bad Mummy, you sound from all your posts to be so loving and well just normal :) Please stay strong and stay believing that you're amazing and do everything you can possibly do cos that's the truth. I know so many people who have visits from SS due to accidents happening, just remember that it's better that they do check you out than let people slip through the net. Fingers crossed that BB continues to improve and that you never have to come across that doctor again.
  21. Stickers and sticker books are a must If she likes cars i took a couple of small cars that he played with at the front of the plane Stickle brick/lego - just enough to build a tower or something? Food and snacks - things that will take her a while to eat - saltanas or i do a large fruit salad as well We also bought a portable dvd player for exactly this reason and i couldn't have flown long hall without it The other thing that she'll love is just to walk up and down the aisles smiling at people, i'm a big fan of as long as they're not doing any harm letting them wander for as long as they like cos it'll hopefully knacker them out. Will she have her own seat? if yes obviously sleep is easier, if no, make sure that you have been to the loo and eaten before you try to get her asleep and whatever happens make sure you are as comfy as possible and preferably with a hand free to read a book if you can't sleep - nothing worse than being stuck in an uncomfy position and not wanting to move incase she wakes up!!! Sleep at this age is a little bit more difficult but make sure you bring everything that she has in bed - grobag, teddy, bottle. It is difficult and my son certainly didn't fall asleep at 7 after my "bedtime" routine like i had hoped (oh how blinkered was i!!) but he did pass out in front of the tv by 8.30 and pretty much slept on and off for the rest of the night. It's just a case of praying for the best but if it doesn't happen i truly believe they somehow aren't as grumpy as if they hadn't slept and were at home cos there's so much to look at. Accept all help from everybody Good luck and please don't panic - it'll be worth it all once you arrive
  22. I think the perfect solution would be to keep the spaces they have at the moment but perhaps to add some more right at the back of the carpark so people with babies for instance can still have space to open the doors wide to get them out but makes no difference if they need to walk a few more metres to get to the shop??
  23. If you don't want to go to duvet just yet I would put the grobag on backwards so the zip was up the back - he stayed in it til he was 2 1/2 when i moved him to a big boys bed!!
  24. What age do you start taking children out?
  25. Thanks everyone for recommendations - I'm going to phone DV pre school and also Magic Moments but still have my fingers crossed from Goodrich - I thought the hassle only started at Primary School entry!!!
