you know the pink ribbon pin badges that are for breast cancer. i have one as it's a charity close to my heart but i also love wearing it as it's small and i think classy. ok, so we could perhaps approach someone who isn't "one of us" but surely that won't matter cos it'll be another mummy anyway and she'll i'm sure be happy that someone has appraoched her and said hi i'm thinking something like this and only ?1???? http://giftshop.cancerresearchuk.org/cancer-research-uk-range/pin-badges/ribbon-pin-badge-bca-10.html -

hysterical, i have just chuckled out loud and gone quite red (hubby looked very baffled) at the thought of all of us walking around ed wearing badges. love it, want to do it, but still feeling a little red about it - if that makes sense!! ok, maybe a bit more expensive but how's about a crocheted flower brooch??? - however seeing as i live in tracky bums and fleeces i think a badge would actually suit me a lot better?? or what about a badge but something smaller than that?? i'll do a bit of searching now -

Christmas Tree Arrival on Lordship Lane?
pebbles replied to dan4courtz's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Buggie - i also got mine opposite the harvester last year and they delivered to mine in Friern Rd cos i couldnt' fit in car with 2 kids. 8ft tree being cycled down the road was a fabulous sight. He bought it into house and fitted it into the base as well - i offered money which he declined so i gave him some beers to take back instead. Will definitely be going there again -

Difficult question - i drive and couldn't live without it (well, before i thought about how i wouldl live without it) but I think mums who don't drive, especially living somewhere as easy as ED they will say absolutely you don't need to. So.... I thought about it and basically on a week to week basis I think we have everything on our doorstep - shops, classes, drs, hospitals etc so yes, it is easily doable without driving. I think (and please correct me if i'm wrong) the problems may lie when going to stay at people's houses who live far away (travel cots, nappies, clothes etc etc) - do you have a partner? does he drive? So... to close..... I think driving makes my life a lot easier however I could quite easily live without a car (as long as my husband drove for the weekend trips). Good luck with your decision and if you take your test, fingers and toes crossed Sally

Sorry sb but i'm busy doing chores this morning zzzzz however on wed am i'm heading for Crystal Palace 1.00 club if anyone fancies it - i'll be there from about 10ish? Let me know and i'll tell you all what i'm wearing so we don't have to go up to too many strangers. poor Gussy, i can't believe that woman turned her back on you - people are truly unbelievable. i think i find the problem in that i see same people week in week out at groups and i try to make chitchat (and to be fair a few other people try as well) but how does one move to the next stage???? coffee/tea etc? it's like the dating game all over again!!! -
buggie - not advice really but i had this with both my little ones and i know a few friends with same problems so i think totally normal. i made sure i expressed from that boob to keep the milk supply up and i just kept offering it and from memory it lasted a couple of weeks and then with no reason they both started latching on again. sorry i can't be of more help but wanted to let you know you're not alone good luck

Thank you Clux and everyone else for being lovely about me - has really put a huge smile on my face :) Gussy - so true, it always seems that everyone else are always in groups and i'm on my own!!! Question - has anyone ever been appraoched by a mum saying "hi, can i join you?" - i'd take my hat off to people like that, good on them :) Anyway, i'd better turn the tv off now and entertain my biggest munchkin :) - well maybe just one more episode :) -

Thanks everyone, what would we do without this forum :) Back to self esteem and the fact that a night out does wonders .... I was out last night to watch a school friend of mine in http://wwwp.la-soiree.com/. She's a trapeze artist/does amazing things climbing up ropes and swinging on ribbons! - one of the best nights out i've had in ages. Laughed and laughed and laughed (and drank a fair bit). If anyone is wanting a night out where they can dress up if they want but don't need to i really really recommend it. -

oh sb i want to give you a cuddle. i have actualy said twice that i would attend the meet ups and then said that i couldn't for whatever reason - but basically at the last minute i told my husband i didn't want to go cos i was too nervous!!! i then literally a few days ago got enough guts to ask other chicken poxed familys around to contact me, cos i knew i would have a week from hell. In all honesty i only got a few responses (and you know who you are) but it wasn't a success!!! so....i'm hammered and thank you so much for your lovely responses.......and i want to say i would like more of a daytime social life - - so... i'm pebbles (Sally), i have a 3 yr old boy and a 1 yr old girl i have an old life (if that makes sense) but it would be lovely to have people that i meet regularly for tea or lunch or anythine rather than official dates????? i meet so many people but i never make the offical "hello, who are you"!!! i'm lonely to be honest so please say.... "hello" night night -

I too am a bumbling fool!! Used to be life and soul (well i thought i was!!) and could talk to anyone and having had 3 1/2 years now out of the rat race unless i'm with really good friends I do find myself very awkward and not knowing what to talk about as i feel i have very little to talk about. I've mentioned it to a few friends who have reassured me however they're the sort of friends that i've known long enough that we can talk about anything - if that makes sense. I wouldn't swap my last 3 1/2 years for anything but i have definitely changed and sometimes i wish i could get my old va va voom back :( - to be honest i think (and i am about to be extremely honest here) it might have quite a bit to do with my weight as well. have put on a lot since having kids and i'm not comfortable about it (i know i should try harder to do something about it) but i think that's a reason for me being a bumbling fool as well :) -

Does anyone know whether Mothercare World that used to be in Croydon (near Ikea) has been moved anywhere else? I actually really miss it!!! -
When do most people think the worst day is? Spots arrived on Sunday and he's not covered yet and apart from his scalp not really itchy. I'm partly feeling a little smug however am concerned that i'm going to start celebrating coming out unscathed only for it to hit with avengence on Friday or something!!! What are most people's timelines? Cheers

Thanks kristymac1 - yes, childminder and other parents all know and are absolutely fine. Was only really wondering if anyone else stuck indoors cos of chicken pox wanted to get together - not that everyone was to come around to catch it!! Nappylady - thanks re piriton. isn't it funny how quickly the itching starts and he's not too keen on cream at the moment so i'll give it a bit longer to see whether he stops wiping it off and then will go down the piriton route.
