I was going through my old papers and shredding last week and found a demand that I register to vote with Bromley council (back when I lived there) with the threat of a 1000 fine and a note I was on the list to be prosecuted. Wasn't compulsory to vote but they really wanted my registration.
  2. Has the management changed recently ? I notice the manager on the website is Mike Miller.
  3. The secret barrister account on twitter created a long detailed explanation of IPP sentences and what happened in 2012/2013 and why sentences were changed. It seems someone in Boris's team nicked it and sent it out under his name. I like the comment "This is weapons grade sh**housery." https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-accused-weapons-grade-21001907
  4. My mum used to do ours by hand with a carpet cleaner brush in the 70s/80s - she had all wool throughout the house. I'd hire equipment now :)
  5. I noticed 13th November seemed to be this years start date for Spoons pubs - can't push it any earlier I guess.
  6. Not sure whats happened - hope nobody caught up in it. https://news.sky.com/story/police-dealing-with-incident-on-london-bridge-amid-reports-of-shots-fired-11873505

Notice the line "there were multiple single points of failure in the company's production network which meant that a strike in a single plant could stop many of the others. Both Ford and General Motors had mitigated against this years before by merging their previously separate British and German subsidiaries and product lines" Anyway BL improved from 1975 to 1980 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Leyland and this was the end "In 1988, the business was sold by the UK Government to British Aerospace (BAe), and shortly afterwards shortened its name to just Rover Group. It subsequently sold the business to BMW, which, after initially seeking to retain the whole business, decided to only retain the Cowley operations for Mini production and close the Longbridge plant. Longbridge, along with the Rover and MG marques, was taken on by MG Rover which went into administration in April 2005."

Years ago in Hurghada I drank Stella with the locals and it wasn't Stella Artois http://www.alahrambeverages.com/brands/stella/ The locals were all great until the police arrived then they pretended not to know me :)

  11. people just edit it to "." with a title of "deleted" if applicable in my experience.

Use by/Best before dates have got worse in the past few years everywhere - what was once 2 weeks can now be 3 days unless you go through what they've got (and then the older ones just get left for the sucker who doesn't check) and again all this takes time and you have 2 hours. of course - online you get what they bring. I've tried specifying less ripe fruit please and bread/cold meat/milk with 5+ days - but they aren't really going to listen I guess and then I end up chucking it :(.

My Mum's King Charles used to cry like he was in acute pain when she left it outside the local Post Office to collect her pension (for 5 minutes or less)- really loud wail. He was back to normal the second she reappeared.
  14. The 2 hour limit did it for me - I order online mainly now. Used to like taking my time shopping and then 30 minutes for a coffee in Starbucks (came to 2.5 hours)
  15. Chief Rabbi warns against Corbyn again, Stormzy stands with Corbyn again
  16. Mind you mentioning Xmas parties last year I was very late coming home from my work do and got threatened for wearing a plum coloured shirt - maybe an uber may have been appropriate but my nature is to find a bus stop.
  17. I use buses and tube - no taxi in years. I'd use them in an emergency but not for getting around London.
  18. There probably is a de facto amnesty - would any police force prosecute historic crimes of verbal abuse going back to the 1980s ? Historic views have been used to build up a portrait of someone though (Boris for instance).
  19. Thinking further - investing in the economy can only grow GDP if there is room to grow. but with Brexit - there is so much we need to grow (to do ourselves, rather than sharing it with the EU) that I think a huge national investment is going to be required whoever wins the election.

An unvirtuous circle. No government I know of has ever paid back borrowing for long - Thatcher did for a while (The Public Sector Debt Repayment) - they do pay the interest. Trump is also borrowing heavily at low interest rates - very heavily - at the moment and it appears to be working as US growth is going well This economist (Olivier Blanchard) argues debt is OK as long as the government is spending it wisely. https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/government-borrowing-debt-economy-gdp-fiscal-illusions-office-budget-responsibility-a8725116.html

    Football Focus

Wales fans already planning another long journey "Wales are guaranteed to be drawn into either Group A - with matches played in Rome or Baku, Azerbaijan, or Group B - with matches played in Copenhagen and St Petersburg." The fake Russian embassy twitter account has already told some they are welcome in St Petersburg if it's there without visa's (might or might not be true)
  23. I fast forward through advertisements although I've noticed All4 forces you to watch them - means I tend to watch little All4

  25. Someone just tweeted to say Boris is now known amongst his team as "Skipper" Not because he's Captain but because he keeps skipping hustings and interviews.
