Don't forget that even if the manufacturing and HQ is in this country the back office tasks might not be. Lots of services going to Czech Republic and Goldman Sachs outsourced their entire back office to Warsaw apparently even though EU HQ is in Holborn.
  3. Lots of firms leave it until as late as possible to pay bills these days. it's a horrible way to manage and you end suddenly getting things cut off. The management know they owe money but leave it as late as possible to pay. Solicitors letter would be next .. but you probably can't afford that - I'd try and go down the free advice route to start as above.

Doc Martins got trendy - remember in the 1990s when all girls wore them. I brought a pair in 1980 which I still wear occasionally - but they were 9.99 in a very untrendy shop :)

Sainsbury's do have a say (or a back channel to someone who does) over the car park - I can vouch for that. Horizon manages the car park.

Is it morally better to buy British anyway in a global market - if everyone across the world did that it's a form of protectionism. My dad tried to get me to buy steel coke cans in the 1970s - explaining to me how to tell the difference as a youngster - but Aluminium cans were obviously superior even to me as a 10 year old - and I secretly brought them.
  7. I liked this weather, a lot of wind but not cold, a little light rain but not too wet, no beating sunshine but skies are bright. Nice - but it won't last :)
  8. Someone on twitter did say if the "yellow bike" app shows the bike close to the river - don't bother as it will be in the river.

Mind you - if someone is the type that wants their ego massaged, to do so is easy brownie points. Other people are much more difficult (those that have a genuine grievance for instance)

The early 80s Golf was so much better than a Marina (which would have been more 70s) If trade works properly things can be made, put together and create jobs in the UK, Europe and elsewhere. It's not just the thing we buy creating the jobs - there's all the industries hanging off that thing. Anyway I hate with a desperation British radishes at the moment - so watery and lacking in pepper :)
  11. Boris Buses are meant to have air conditioning but the design doesn't work - preferred the huge bendy things to be honest. Air conditioning seems to be breaking in this heat - work, local pret, local wetherspoons all struggling not M&S though.
  12. Claims the microphone was being switched over ... that's what I'd do too.

You can still moan and complain (and congratulate too) even if you didn't vote - no-one actually knows whether you voted or not in this system - although we all should vote I agree. Actually it seems lobbying (email, in person, letter etc) is the most effective way to get things done in this country - the general line seems to be make the argument easy for your representative by doing the research on the subject including arguments that they can then use to tell their colleagues. If they really never reply you need to go along to there surgery I'd think, with letters and all your research. http://the-shg.org/lobby%20government.htm

    Brexit View

The country seems to be split in 3 at the moment. Remain, Some kind of deal and WTO terms. Although remain is what I stand with I have some sympathy with the WTO proponents as Theresa Mays deal is classic rule taker - I notice it doesn't have much support from either side. I think maybe I'd like to see a Norway model for a 5 year fixed period whilst we sort out our issues - but then we must move one way or the other. Any no deal Brexit would require 10,000s of jobs to be created by the government IMHO on top of the recent increases to the NHS (and public pay rises which are coming out of current budgets supposedlly). Someone has to pay for that - I see motorists, drinkers and maybe VAT as well as maybe a penny or two on income pretty soon as we're talking preparation for no deal.
  16. Actually to be honest the advice is common sense - I already do all that - and if nervous get insurance. https://www.met.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/personal-robbery/protect-your-mobile-phone-against-criminals-on-bikes-and-mopeds/

Sorry I still won't be cowed like that - we might as well not wear watches as that is a prime target too - it's letting Katy Hopkins win making out London is a no go area - just use your common sense and keep your eyes open.
  18. I've never tried to contact a local councillor in 10 years (obviously I have no issues LOL) But Renata Hamvas does have over 1600 posts on here so she must be saying something.

Don't assume we're safe yet. The new Brexit Secretary who has just lost his position of Chief Negotiator to Theresa May and Olly Robbins demonstrates a real flair for making us feel safe and secure in the event of a no deal Brexit 'The new Brexit secretary has promised to ensure ?there is adequate food supply?' Adequate ! Put that on the Brexit bus. - oh and it's the last day of parliament - nicely timed. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-secretary-food-supply-dominic-raab-uk-leave-eu-no-deal-a8461771.html

I give you Owen Jones :) https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/mar/12/tory-links-russia-saudi-links-corbyn-spy-extremism But it's nothing to do with Trump except the perhaps same Russian people trying to control Western interests.
  22. You have to assume they all could be carrying knives or guns and call 999 after what happened in Greenwich.
  23. Bank won't tell you anything if my experiences are anything to go by - they'll refund you and deal with it as a crime against them. It would be nice to hear there were some convictions in some of these cases.

This guy sells them - a nice little earner "Great for a party or to wind up your favourite leaver." :) https://www.euflagmafia.com/100_Bollocks_to_Brexit_stickers_OR_choose_200_or_1000_UK_only/p5046194_17931967.aspx
  25. To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS! I love that most of the replies to this just seem to question if it violates Twitter's codes of posting.
