The laws strict if it gets applied - section 4 (or 5) makes being threatening or insulting someone a crime with no violence to the person required to convict. In the Ben Stokes case after they described Stokes rolling around on the floor with the 2 other guys and after that they backed off and said they'd had enough, at the same time his friend told him to lay off. The prosecutor then said in court if it had stopped then we wouldn't be here. (all taken from the press) I wondered why they wouldn't have been there on lesser charges (unless he meant Crown Court). So I think it depends on the police, the victim and the evidence to convict. These days the CPS decides whether to prosecute but back in the day (maybe the above incident) the police decided whether to prosecute.

The only thing worse than someone wearing flip flops to work is when they take them off :)
-
Is that just for the men though ? To be honest women wear shorter dresses to work than men do shorts (which would normally be almost to the knee).
-
I saw Police wearing shorts last week in a pub in Waterloo. So if they do we all can :) About an inch above the knee, Chino style, short socks but NOT shiny black shoes - need something mid way between black trainers and shoes ... IMHO

I notice the ex-boss of Wigan Rugby league is Shaun Wane He really needs to go out for a drink with Shane Warne

Every time someone says that I have to say I won't be cowed - no point in having a mobile if you can't use it :) Don't text whilst walking is better advice IMHO - stop and note whats around you before using your phone - or hands free. -

I have corked many a bottle ... but most people don't notice - anyway it's mostly screw top now :) (this assumes corked means you've screwed the corkscrew in so far it goes right through the cork and as such some cork might end up in the wine)

That's true, but I go on the equality act legally. (1)Race includes? (a)colour; (b)nationality; ©ethnic or national origins. We don't have to use the term racism though.

Reports of police knocking them off and chasing them now. A Sainsbury's lorry also crossed the road to block another lot (don't think citizens can run into them but you can block them) -
It's not Papillon but Tommy's days inside are already leaked (with a bit of licence). "There's no TV, Can I have a TV?" "Sorry we can't have a TV in here because you'll disturb the people in the cell next door" "What's next door ?" "The Mosque"

LOL - BT side isn't my thing - I've rung them when they're digging holes reminding them of their SLA and had the reply (in a west country accent) - "what do you expect me to do whip them". -

You'd expect so - Networks is all about resiliency - if the exchange burnt down the companies can't just stop services until it's rebuilt. -

Yes - the word obliged was a wrong maybe but I think it's reports like the below I've heard in terms of prioritising where any hate crime is labelled as a serious offence https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-41633205 Anyway I'd say always report what you perceive even if it's corrected by people who may know better about these things - and because of the language used in this one I'd tick the box.

It won't end with the moslems. If the alt right are in a pub they'll talk to me if I don't say much - so I know some of the views they have.

Personally yes because I don't like his brand of politics - legally the appeal court had a point but most of us wouldn't get that justice - he has top lawyers retained paid for by The Middle East Forum (an anti islamic group in the states). https://www.meforum.org/ "The full resources of the Middle East Forum were activated to free Mr. Robinson. We: Conferred with his legal team and made funding available to them; Funded, organized and staffed the large ?Free Tommy? London rallies on June 9 and July 14 (see The Times, The Guardian, and the Independent); Funded travel by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) to London to address the rally; and Urged Sam Brownback, the State Department?s ambassador for International Religious Freedom, to raise the issue with the UK?s ambassador." "The Philadelphia-based Middle East Forum promotes American interests and works to protect Western civilization from the threat of Islamism."

LOL I saw someone riding up the pavement on a yellow bike yesterday - swerving left and right. Realised they have a light (and maybe a dynamo)
-
Oh Gawd he's out - re-trial.

Foxton's has made a loss and a large fall in sales too. Maybe that new Rye Lane branch won't last (not that I know how well any specific branch does).
-
Citizens Advice Bureau It's a bit go to - but at least they will know the other organisations that will help for free - but don't let emotions overcome it - it's a business transaction and if you're owed money you're owed money.
-
You want a third party really as the emotions need to be taken out of the situation. You don't want to pay for a third party so CAB or organisations in the previous thread. On another note - small companies outsource HR to avoid this sort of situation which just is embarassing.
