May has gone very quiet recently. Some saying she's gone to ground after a few bad days. A good opposition would have her on the ropes.

Sounds like Income Tax is going up (under Tories or Labour) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4432830/Philip-Hammond-hints-Tories-raise-taxes.html The Mail (but they might be supporting UKIP now)

But most of my time on urban roads is spent standing still. The speed you travel in between being stationary doesn't seem to matter in comparison to the long stationary periods. I use my car for shopping mainly - so to Tescos or Sainsbury. Peckham Rye -> Sainsburys for example. Most of the time is spent waiting to turn right at Peckham Rye or at East Dulwich roundabout - the rest is insignificant to the total time IMHO.

Nothing on the services page http://www.londonbusroutes.net/changes.htm there's this in November Contract awarded to London Central with 24 new hybrid double deckers. Temporary timetable withdrawn and new timetable to improve reliability following changes to road layouts and introduction of 20mph speed limits along the route, with Monday to Saturday daytime service reduced to every 10 minutes. Experience - I think they're staggered. The only time I've seen people gain road is when they go 60 or so - and that's dangerous
  11. The whistling (and a bit of swearing with it) was pretty bad last night - surprised it didn't reach as far as the Gowlett - the noise issue is being directed the wrong way - it's like a mouse versus an elephant. Anyway there's this hashtag coming on twitter #dontcutthegowlettoutofpeckham
  12. Most pubs now (in my not inconsiderable experience) just close and they are more likely to come around and tell you they are going to close than do the one bell at 10:50 and long bell at 11:00 (Everybody used to rush to the bar at th first bell once) They can also close at any time.

That's why I'm scared to cycle You can hang back 364 days of the year - but the one time you forget you're in extreme danger. The cycle lane could lull you into a false sense of security.

Corbyn made a good (for him) speech today - but you expect it as campaigning is his thing. He won't do enough to close the gap (he might close it a bit) - but will do enough to stay as Labour leader - you wait ;)
  17. I was in a rotten mood this morning- maybe it's Theresa May and her lying ;) The Gowlett is quiet whenever I'm down there - and that included the traditional New Years Day party thingy that's really popular. It isn't locals that make the worst noise - I'm pretty sure that's people coming here to go clubbing and planning to stay out all night. Can't actually believe some people believe the Gowlett is noisy - My flat would not be suitable for families is all I'd say :) The big complaint in my bit of town is the Whistling guy - as the rest is just the liveliness of Rye lane.
  18. and I don't expect people to change and never complain but when I go off on one - accept that too If pubs liked their neighbours - really liked us they'd give us cheaper beer :) hint hint

What noise (24/7/365) does is gradually make you "on edge" and ready to explode - it's very gradual but it does change you. It's the beeps of traffic - who think somebody didn't just beep 30 seconds before, or the screams of girls falling over at 4 AM.

The media seems to have tried to get to Farron today (It'll be McDonnell tomorrow maybe) The gay sin issue Whether he'd form another coalition with the Tories Sharing a platform with Tony Blair And now apparently he's been endorsed by Ann Widdecombe. If he's got a cat I'd say stay out tonight.

What I've noticed with the Lions is when the tour starts the team sometimes isn't how you initially would pick it. However one comment - Gatland seems to have hinted he won't pick Farrell at 12. Which knowing Gatland means he will :)

"Despite having 16 players in the squad, some England fans are ticked off because Joe Launchbury, George Ford, Dylan Hartley and others have not been picked. The Irish are fed up because Munster and Ireland flanker Donnacha Ryan hasn?t been picked. The Scots are unhappy because they?ve only got two players in the squad and the Welsh are unhappy because Gatland has defied expectations by naming some players in his squad who are English, Irish and Scottish" Stereotypical Welsh identified in The Guardian :)
