Not only do things like toilets, basins, showers start to leak after 3-4 years in my experience but they seem to be purposely built to be difficult to access for DIY (bolts where you need a specific tool to remove rather than anything standard for instance). for instance, it's easy to buy and should be easy to fit a replacement flush unit - but the bolt to remove the current one is facing the wall and inaccessible.

A Ken Clarke type might get somewhere although Rory Stewert who claims to be in this wing pulled out. I notice Charlie Mullins was running :) None of them really big hitters IMHO. It's as if they decided they can't beat Khan this time round. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-51628623 -

That's their right in a democracy - even if expressed in an obnoxious way. We have to put up with leaving the EU in the hardest possible way on a 52-48 majority in the UK so why not let Dulwich residents make their own decisions at that level (not advocating it but at what point do you stop splitting up democracy if you think big a strategy (like pan europe) is bad).

I'd rather a form of tax on those that break the law than tax everybody.

The Mayoral contest isn't a vote on LTNs as theres more than that but Khan seems to be pulling further ahead (a lot of young Londoners support him) https://www.onlondon.co.uk/sadiq-khan-has-22-point-lead-in-new-london-mayor-opinion-poll/ -

Conservative Manifesto - 2019. "We will pilot low-traffic ?healthy neighbourhoods? ? working with local councils to reduce rat-running cars and lorries, making side streetsnicer to live in and safer to walk, cycle and play in while maintaining the access people need". The way they have "worked" with Manchester says it all. https://www.conservatives.com/news/supporting-the-heart-of-our-local-communities

LOL I believe the exact opposite that this is a Tory plan to make the Mayor look bad. Labour doesn't really have any strategists/game players and to me this stinks of Cummings games. Maybe Part2 will be to come up with a well known candidate next year.

Tighter restrictions/ second national lockdown aka circuit breaker?

Is the attached a loophole or planned - if you're on a business meeting you can break the covid rules apparently and many pubs are now posting similar. -

Jenrick saying he told Burnham before that moment the mayors of the north all discovered the loss of 38 million. Somehow I don't believe him and he should sort out cladding and leasehold. -

Don't forget Boris's sister said in 2019 that he is behaving strangely and this was possibly due to the pressure from those near him who have financial investments in a no deal brexit. If anyone knows him she does https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/boris-johnsons-sister-warns-pms-reprehensible-behaviour-may-be-due-to-bets-on-pound-plummeting-in-no-deal-crash-for-uk/27/09/ -

How far does local democracy go ? We all seem much more local than a few years ago - maybe because we all have facebook and twitter groups for our own road/block and so make plans for that little area.

Listening to Boris's news conference - it does come across as dividing the country. He's using those that agree with him against those that don't. Seems to be a theme with this government. -

Figures don't look good - what's the bet for tier 4 - being total lockdown being rolled out sooner or later. If Manchester ignore it the whole thing is a bit silly - will the army go in or a national police force. -

I thought he supported the Welsh plan of a 3 week lockdown He's now saying level 2 lockdown means people can't mix outside their bubble in pubs - I'm not sure pubs keep to that seeing what happens outside . Anyway the creation of level 4 can't be far away - figures just reported on Sky News are a nightmare.

Shapps is trying to play both sides against the middle though Even the Daily Mail noticed this. "Mr Shapps' comments, in a letter sent to local councils last week, come despite the fact that many of the cycle lanes were built using money from an emergency ?250million fund which he unveiled in May." But he's already fixed it (very Boris Jonsonesque - it's oven ready) "The Transport Secretary explained how he had since ordered his staff to work with local councils, adding: 'Since then, numerous schemes have been scaled back and revised'." and MORE money is coming "He warned that the second round of funding could involve some town halls receiving 'considerably less' if they failed to embrace good design." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8852217/Grant-Shapps-admits-new-cycle-lanes-unused.html
