  1. The streetworks register suggests the emergency gas works will be going on until at least 1 July. Not sure if that means they need to keep the southbound road shut for all that time.

Although be aware that by doing this (described by maxxi) anyone who clicks into the thread will be using the bandwidth of the person who is hosting the image. Can be a problem if it's a personal website or personally hosted image. Used to be considered very poor "netiquette" to do this, esp if the end result is that you massively increase the host's bandwidth. Not sure if it is considered the same now? All other forums I regularly participate have a clear ban on hotlinking, you must host the image yourself. {Edited to say they're all techie forums and probably have had that rule in place for ages, so may not be relevant to something like the EDF} http://altlab.com/hotlinking.html
  3. We've had similar problems in the past and would endorse the advice given in this thread. You need to be persistent and you need do everything in writing. Don't phone them up as when you next contact them, they will deny all knowledge of your earlier call. Also keep in mind there are some things you can genuinely threaten a baliff with - for example the withdrawal of their certification to act as a baliff under the Distress for Rent Rules 1988 (see http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1988/2050/article/8/made) if they are genuinely acting in an inappropriate way. It's something that affects them personally, not their company. At the least, it's a pain for them to deal with a complaint being made. This is the paragraph of my letter that finally got the company to back off and commit in writing not to contact us again - welcome to tweak it for your needs: We have tried to deal with your enquiries in a reasonable fashion, but in light of your latest correspondence, we ask you formally to note that you remain on notice that Mr X does not live here and there is no reasonable basis for you to attend our home or seek to levy any distress against our property, including our car (which is registered in my name and parked outside our home). If any bailiff does attend, she or he will not be granted access. If any entry is forced or if you continue to threaten to take action against us, we will seek an order against both you and your client for any or all of a) the voiding of any levy; b) damages for illegal and/or irregular distress including compensation for time incurred and loss of earnings; c) trespass (against both you and your client); and/or d) an application for withdrawal of certification by way of complaint under the Distress for Rent Rules 1988. Please acknowledge receipt of this letter.
  4. They won't as long as you haven't asked for a wheelie bin recently. Our recycling boxes and bags all disappeared last week for the second time and I did get an email asking me to explain why I was requesting further replacements, but they did provide them quickly after that.
  5. As a percentage of total? Not many I would guess. But we were all new users once. I wonder how many people dip a toe into the water but find the strong-knit (or diametrically opposed) group of existing posters a bit intimidating and/or difficult to participate with on an equal level, so they don't bother. Our mystery poster is a proper PITA, although I'm perversely quite enjoying trying to spot him/her at an early stage in his various incarnations...
  6. Thanks James, for me, I think that will work ok. Our green bin rarely gets filled up within a week and if I take out food waste, I should have room to spare. However, totally agree that a few blue boxes and bags won't be sufficient for fortnightly recycling - wheelie bin as a minimum. Can understand it will be harder for those with bigger families and young children though.
  7. James can you clarify - I may not be quite be understanding this properly: So does that mean that all houses that face onto the streets are going onto the food waste scheme? Or for those of us not on the pilot does it mean that our normal rubbish collections stay the same (mixed food and non food waste) and recycling only goes fortnightly? If so, as long as we can have a wheelie bin and/or mix up our recycling, it would be ok for most people. If the plan is to put everyone on fortnightly collections (which is what I think you mean), even those who are on mixed food/non food waste and not on the pilot scheme, that's going to be a massive issue. Food waste needs to be collected weekly - wasn't that one of the core features of the pilot scheme?
  8. The particular junction between Underhill and Barry Road is not being helped at all at the moment by the building works going on at the old lumber yard. I don't use the junction every day, but my experience is that the builders regularly cone off sections of the road to provide access to delivery vehicles (even at the weekend when they're not working) and/or park up lorries/vans on both Underhill and Barry Road which are difficult to see and manoeuvre around, particularly if you're trying to get across Barry Road. On Saturday morning, they had coned off half of one lane on Underhill Road so that effectively there was only one lane of traffic for both directions which made it really hard to get across Barry Road without heading into oncoming traffic. I know it's been mentioned before and James was going to ask traffic officers to look at it, but doesn't seem to be any change in their behaviour.

Try http://planningonline.southwarksites.com/planningonline2/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.pgedocs&TheSystemkey=9536966 (takes a while to load) Or look up the documents/appeal decision from application 10/AP/2327. It relates to a property in SE15 (edited to correct location - not Archdale - don't know where I got that from) which got a cert of lawful development on appeal.
  10. There is a Friends group in the process of being set up for Camberwell Old Cemetery - all welcome to get involved (and it will need as wide a group as possible to try and fund it). Part of the reason for forming a Friends group is because of Southwark's burial issues and the plans to expand/increase the burial parts of existing sites such as Camberwell Old Cemetery. The next planned meeting is in early June. I'm planning to go and will ask about any more recent info on this.
  11. Just FYI - James Barber recently confirmed that Wood Vale is actually a 30mph zone - it has been wrongly sign posted for a while - was a bit of surprise to me! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,336529,652437#msg-652437 However, completely agree with your comment about the mini-roundabouts and mad overtaking. Someone once overtook me as I was turning right off Wood Vale into Melford Road - i.e. turned into Melford Road parallel with me on the wrong side of the road at speed. If the 363 had been coming the other way, no way he would have seen it in time.
  12. Is the only issue that the Sonos cannot see the Mac iTunes library? So it will still play internet radio/access online services? How is the Mac connected to your network (Airport Express or router)? I don't use a Mac, but one thing to check (particularly if you've applied the new iTunes software update recently) is that the name or location of your library file hasn't changed and/or the Sonos is still pointing at the right folder/file. Also, is your iTunes library still set up for sharing - if you've applied updates this might have been reset. Depending on which model you're using, the option may be in System Preferences/Sharing/Firewall, check iTunes Music Sharing.
  13. Did you follow the link above? http://www.2sisterstandoori.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/2-sisters-tandoori-menu1.pdf
  14. There's another massive poster on Blackfriars Bridge with Example (singer) doing a concert in "Krystal's" front room...

  16. Hangwai - really good veggie, Korean food hidden behind thick wooden door near the Empire State Building - beautifully presented and a nice overall dining experience. Good for when you have had your quota of salt beef and steak. http://www.hangawirestaurant.com/
  17. In the same vein, I walked through Camberwell Old Cemetery on my way to work today and came across two groundsmen clearing up after what looked like a small cyclone of rubbish - not just what you'd expect in a cemetery but loads of food waste and plastic bags. They were trying to work out if foxes had got into the large, upright steel, Veolia rubbish containers (including lifting the lids!) or if someone had been in the cemetery after closing.
  18. ayresc Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Also has BT Broadband been incredibly slow over the last 3-6 months? Just to answer this bit, not in my experience. In fact, it's been much faster as the ED exchange near the Plough was upgraded. We're regularly getting 15mb download speeds (again the Plough end of Lordship Lane).
  19. It was much better yesterday evening at around 10pm when I was heading home. The last couple of weeks there has been a backlog of cars down towards Townley Road, even at that time. Last night there were only a couple of cars waiting.
  20. I'm sure there was a post on here a while back where an insurer or mortgagor or similar had refused to lend on Dawson Heights properties because they had it listed as a significant subsidence risk. Could be a factor.
  21. That's interesting, because the revised phasing also seems to be operating throughout the weekend - which doesn't make a whole lot of sense given the reduction in traffic levels.
  22. ...shine a torch in her ears...
  23. Magpie, only to say that I have noticed this too over the last couple of weeks - it seems as if the lights going from Lordship Lane towards Forest Hill have been rephased so that there are two different phases of green light - a "normal" phase on green which lets about 5-6 cars through, and then the next phase on green is very short (only 2 cars can get through). All of the phases coming the other ways (both from Forest Hill towards Lordship Lane and going from Barry Road to Dulwich Village and vice versa) seem to be operating the way they always did. Maybe try contacting James Barber - he has recently posted about the phasing of traffic lights in ED.
  24. d_c, I find this is a bit more up to date: http://www.dracos.co.uk/play/locating-postboxes/
  25. There used to be 2 x 19:30pm collections - one at the Paddington and one at the Mount Pleasant sorting offices. The Paddington office isn't a sorting office any more and I have a sneaking suspicion that the Mount Pleasant collection is now 7pm, but may be worth checking both of these. I've never heard of a later collection in London than 19:30pm...wouldn't it be nice...
