  3. I've ben to the kids A&E bit a few tmes and got some of the best service I've received in any public or private setting.
  4. This hapened to us at forest hill practice. we called them to get an appointment mid-afternoonish for a kid with a near 40 degree temperature, they said they'd get the on-call dr. to call back. which they did 3 hours later, after we'd given up on them and gone to a&e. it's playing with fire if something untoward happens in that time.
  5. all lynxse posts seem to be about how rubbish local councillors are. now this wouldn't be linked to upcoming local elections by any chance? and these are the people who want to be our 'leaders'. sheesh.
  6. i think the crossing by the roundabout is dangerous to all. when coming from the grove and turning into lordship lane you have to check traffic encroaching from east dulwich road, then those edging out from spurling road, then quickly switch your eyes to the opposite side of the road to see if anyone is on the north side of the crossing. And your sight of that is further obscured by the A-pillar between the car windscreen and driver's door which neatly lines up with the other side of the crossing. i've often had to brake a bit sharply here when someone appears and i'm always expecting a shunt up the backside. there's too many things going on to make it a safe place to cross.
  7. I'd be less bothered if it had been some sort of mistake, but going by the number of times they have done this it seems to be a policy of theirs to ignore planning rules. Drink away those who are happy to support this sort of thing.
  8. Ha, i just came here to post that. Poor Harriet, it must seem a bit scary when you come south of the river for the first few times.
  9. very sorry to hear. life's a grim old business sometimes.
  10. why do people think that 'interesting' facts means 'celebrity' facts. i would think census info would provide more interesting stuff about the demographic of the area. ED has changed immensely over the past 10 years, is any of that reflected in the census data?
  11. is it me or has this homework probably been set so kids can learn how to research things? Not getting your mum to ask people on a forum to do the leg work? Or does that count as research?
  12. No I went home to thaw out, it were a bit chilly on them terraces.
  13. I went to my first Dulwich Hamlet game yesterday, I had a read of their history later and saw that they usd to get crowds of 20,000 in the Edgar Kail days. I was wondering how this was possible, did they have a large stadium back then? Anyone got any photos?
  14. i'm not one for thinking that we live in crime-ridden times but crims do seem to go to violent lengths for little rewards these days - see the red apple newsagent thread from the other day. i always thought that GH was not a bad area, the bit round the station looks quite posh.
  15. Did he pronounce it 'Taleegrarph' or 'Teligruf'?
  16. http://www.appscout.com/images/spam%20boy.jpg
  17. I saw a no.12 bus stopped on the junction about that time with two guys standing in front of it shouting, about a minute later there was a group running down landells road shouting.
  18. you seem to have 2 children AND have an active social life. tell me, what is your secret master?
  19. Never had a problem, 3 of us got one on saturday night from chinatown. i always tip well just to keep them motivated.
  20. Moxtons, now there's a marketing idea - houses and fish all in one.
  21. I thonk he is a spa
  22. Naever had any problems with the Mind shop, they've taken everything I've given them for years and always with a thank you.
  23. yes, and we should all live by the words of Kurt Cobain. They certainly didn't do him any...oh, hold on.... This is a great discussion, is we is or is we ain't at risk of crime? I'm all for instinct too, and Gerry's first post didn't contain the info that caused the actions which seemed to be that it didn't seem right at the time, and that's all you need to maintain a bit of safety.
  24. Out of interest, was the story about the local roads?
  25. fonson that was such a miraculous escape, my thoughts were very much with you at the time. i hope she was small enough not to know what was going on. sorry if this thread brought up bad memories for you. and sorry to invalidate the earlier discussion about the bishop junction but the accident yesterday was on the moo too junction which is a bit further up, with a car stuffed into the front of the chemist. regardless of where exactly i reckon it's only a matter of time before someone does get badly injured or worse on this stretch.
