Convex replied to secondtimemum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Our age gap is over 2 but yes, it gets easier. Thankfully! -
Is it worth getting a Bugaboo Cameleon travel bag?
Convex replied to mooncake's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Agree, check your buggy at check in in a bag. We have had things damaged on flights, it's not worth the risk when it's your main buggy. We always checked the bugy and had the baby in a sling. Recently we have bought a babyzen yoyo which we take on the flight with us. But that only works if you can manage to carry the baby, the pram and your hand luggage for the short periods that you need to! -
i was thinking its probably not the best forum for it. its relatively unusual isn't it? maybe mums net or similar with a much wider readership. you would probably get some good advice and recommendations there. i was also thinking that a decent bra from Bloomers on lordship lane is cheaper, less risky and very effective. Or rigby and peller, etc. im not anti-surgery and am reserving the right if i get to a point where i want to make changes, but its just so irreversible and doctors / surgeons aren't perfect.

it is annoying, we used to have a van which we didn't use over the winter and tried to park it on one of the parks not outside someones house. having said that we almost never get to park outside our house. its nice to have a chance of parking near to your door. and its incredibly annoying when there are a sh*tload of broken down vans and cars on your street that show no sign of moving over MONTHS and you can't find a park and its pouring with rain. so my sympathy OP! but he hasn't technically done anything wrong, and its just part and parcel of living in london. but grrrrr away!

i think the thing you are missing DMC is that you are well known to be difficult to get hold of, difficult to get appointments, and don't go out of your way to support your patients - e.g. the example above with a nurses appt being cancelled and yet the patient had to go back into the queue for an appt despite having already waited. i am not going to waste my time making official complaints and typing out all the issues. they are very clear from the numerous threads on here and i bet you know them too. you have good doctors and good nurses, sort out the admin to support them properly and you will have a surgery to be proud of.

Apologies and patient information from DMC
Convex replied to DMC Healthcare's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
DMC is shocking. They have some good doctors there but it's a total lottery as to whether you can get an appointment. IT feels like you are at the mercy of the receptionists. They should not be accepting new patients, until they can adequately service the ones they have. -
I'm reading how to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk I read their other one sibling rivalry first which is easier going and I think would be useful for 1 or more kid families I don't have experience eof this exact thing, but sympathy, and I hope it improves soon.

Would anyone be willing to loan me a car shaped cake tin?

Although I'd be interested to know what book you have, it sounds great! -
Would anyone be willing to loan me a car shaped cake tin?
Convex replied to Convex's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks sol. I did that for a pirate ship and it went a bit wrong, basically I didn't have enough cake! Very pushed for time this time so trying to avoid any mistakes like that (I had to use some duplo bits to make it work) I've got one now though, thanks to a kind Edf-er... -
try emailing their customer support, they are pretty good at answering questions like this.

Groped whilst running by East Dulwich Station

If you don't have a dryer or a likely spot (we have a very sunny room where they dry pretty quickly) then you can choose a type that are quick drying. Eg minkee ones I think dry very quickly. I'd really recommend you go to the nappy lady website and fill in a questionnaire, she will know everything that's available and recommend you something that suits you. I found the washing etc no drama, but my 1st son used to poo through disposables and so it was either washable nappies or wash 100s of changes of clothes. I had enough nappies to do 2 washes a week, maybe 3.

Gifts for arrival of newborn (2nd child)
Convex replied to LouLouMoving's topic in The Family Room Discussion
some really lovely advice here. im not sure about the gift for the mum - unless you know what she likes. its really kind but you have so little time with 2 and unless you have childcare its impossible to actually go for a mani/pedi etc... having said that someone gave me some nice hand moisturiser which was good. definitely yes on the treat for the older child. and i really appreciated nice things for my younger baby that i didn't feel justified in buying as really we had enough hats/babygros/ etc - was nice to get a couple of cute outfits that i didn't have to feel guilty about buying! e.g. a nice blanket, babygro, etc. -
I'm sure this has been done before. Possibly even by me, But Campsites in Britain you'd recommend? We have a small van, and like to have a fire and interesting things to visit nearby....

miss se22 would he agree to poo in a pull up - ie, he asks you for a nappy, you put it on, he poos and then you clean him up straightaway? might help as an incremental step? then progress to poo-ing over an open nappy on the loo/potty then hopefully on the loo?

Hollie's course is great, especially if you have a skeptic in the family, whether its the mum or the dad! -

Bugaboo Bee 3 - Carrycot or just cocoon?
Convex replied to klh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would have liked a carrycot option when I had the bee. I think ?200 is pretty steep though! But... Have you seen the babyzen yoyo? I think it's a good alternative to the bee. -
Frozen-themed week at nursery.
Convex replied to Bellenden Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
That's really well put bb! Not to mention that if your kid doesn't watch former they will feel pretty left out if they don't know the references. -
Yes, napisan! Might take a few goes.

alternative pain relief to epidural
Convex replied to astrid83's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Did gas and air work for you? I found a combo of gas and air, water and hypnobirthing breathing worked for me. Also I recommend you read birth skills by juju sindin. I used some of the techniques when the hypnobirthing wasn't working (I have super fast labours so can't really get in the zone) Also my midwives showed me how to use gas and air properly, although maybe it's just me that got it wrong at first!! There are also some acupressure points low on your back that cut my contraction pain in half. I know this because my partner accidentally stopped pressing on them mid way through a contraction. You can use a tennis ball to stop your birth partners thumbs from falling off. I got a reflexologist to show us where they were but there was an online booklet I found, I will try and search it later. -
I did reflexology and lots, lots, lots of bouncing on the ball!

Gumboots Nursery and reccomendations
Convex replied to larrylandell's topic in The Family Room Discussion
definitely go and look around My Favourite Nursery. as with all nurseries there are pluses and minuses but i think they are well run, and certainly the kids are happy (i have one toddler and 1 baby) crucially they have admin support staff which frees up the manager to do her job properly and i think this has positive effects in lots of ways eg the staff seem well supported and the turnover of staff is relatively low. i would advise to get on the list for 3 nurseries if you can find 3 you like. once your child is here you will have a better idea of what you need, and it also covers you in the event that you need to change nurseries for any reason.
