(ED Picturehouse now open)when is the cinema on LL opening?
MissKing replied to Ole's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hooray I'm so excited about this! So what if they have over run on the building work - at the end of the day we'll have a great new addition to East Dulwich, and a cinema within walking distance from home will be amazing. -
Has anyone given Pedlar a try? It's the new place next to the southern end of Peckham rye.

Railway Rise Demolition - Consultation now open
MissKing replied to chazzle's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
And interestingly here you can see inside the cottages when they were last up for sale. I don't see how it can be justified to demolish these I really don't! http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detail.html?country=england&locationIdentifier=STREET%5E518353&searchLocation=Railway+Rise&referrer=landingPage -
Railway Rise Demolition - Consultation now open
MissKing replied to chazzle's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
According to this, it's the same property developer that did the garden centre. They have bought up the cottages and the road with a view to develop into shops and flats: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/designation_of_railway_rise_se22 -
You are about to be horrified. Foxtons coming to Rye Lane
MissKing replied to Louisa's topic in The Lounge
It's hardly exciting news, Peckham has been talked about in the media as the next up and coming area for yonks! I for one would be pleased to see rye lane smarten up a bit. And for anyone who thinks that is bad, well it used to be called the golden mile and was big shopping destination! Take the lane back to it's roots I say! -
Get city mapper app on your phone, tells you when the next bus will be along. Can't make the bus come any faster unfortunately, but at least you'll know what kind of wait you are looking at!

Burro e Salvia is coming to East Dulwich
MissKing replied to burroesalvalnd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think the new place sounds great. And think everyone who is being negative about a new venture opening should vent their opinions elsewhere - it's rather rude to the new business. This happened with the dog shop too! We are lucky to live in such a vibrant area. Good luck burro e salvia! :) -
Or, in the tune of the spice girls' wannabe: "Easy D doesn't come for free, she's a real lady"!

some bits of ED are in red section which is majority homeowners - its seems to be split! Very interesting page though.

Do all the other businesses along Lordship Lane pay this LLW? If not, why all the focus on just the cinema?

Excited for all tese new places opening up! I wonder what peckham market will be like? I love having a potter around northcross road so much on the weekends that I'm not sure it will tempt me away!

My parents love staying in the area and wouldn't want to stay in central! jack'n'danny Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why would anybody want their Parents to stay in > the area?? Safer bet is to find somewhere outside > of SE5/SE22 & travel in to visit, after all > despite the problems in the area we are blessed > with a fantastic Public Transport System.

When my parents come and stay we air b&b it. They recently stayed in a lovely place on upland road and it works out just like a b&b

This weekend my mum spotted an advert for a Supper Club in East Dulwich that she thought looked great, advertised on an A4 sheet of paper taped up in William Rose. I was too busy choosing sausages and didn't pay great attention at the time. Did anyone see this advert? Would love to find out more and maybe treat my Mum to it in the future! (I can't go in to look again as I'm at work in the day)

Is it easy to sell a house in East Dulwich?
MissKing replied to lesalden's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Slow time of year for house buying too... few people wish to be moving at Christmas / winter -
The Bishop is good also for watching footy, and they do amazing pizza!

I moved this year and used Gary Jennings. He was brilliant, really careful with all my stuff and my mum thought he was great too! http://www.vanandman.com/contact_us.html I packed my things up myself, but his price for the move was very reasonable I seem to remember.

Thanks Jeli - I'll look him up!

Recommend Excellent Oven and Hob Cleaner
MissKing replied to annieB's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Cameron came round to clean my oven earlier this week and did a brilliant job! So I would like to second this recommendation for anyone who's oven is in need of a clean. My oven literally looks like new! He was really friendly, tidied up after himself and left my kitchen smelling lovely. He was happy to come over after work hours which I found really convenient. He was also really honest - I had booked to get the hob cleaned too but he told me it was clean enough and didn't need doing. I'd highly recommend him. Seeing this thread pop back up is the first time I've thought about plane noise in months... -
Can the RSPCA assist - maybe the cat is micro chipped? We lost one of our cats to a road accident last week. It is very upsetting. Luckily he was micro chipped or we may never have even found out.
