  1. Hi I have a new TV that needs putting on a bracket on wall, sound bar fitted, cables chased and also someone in the know to explain how to use it (blush). Can anyone recommend a good company? I usually use Nunhead Installation for this kind of thing but none of his numbers seem to be working.
  2. That's extremely helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to post.
  3. Thanks everyone. Sounds like it's a good kiddie destination. Now got to find accommodation...think we've left it a bit late!
  4. Just wondering what there is to do there that the kids (8 and 4) will be into and if anyone has a recommendation for a good hotel/B&B? Any advice most welcome! Thanks.
  5. I have a Miele that sounds like it needs a new motor...
  6. Andy is really very good indeed. He's sorted an achilles tendon and IT band injury in just a couple of sessions. As an added bonus he worked on my neck and shoulders too with wonderful results.
  7. I've used Lee from Garvey Plumbing & Heating twice now. First, he came to my rescue to disconnect and reconnect a gas oven. It was a fairly standard job but he came out late (8pm) as it needed to be done super quickly. I called 6 people and he was the only person who agreed to come out of normal hours. He didn't charge the earth either which he could've done. Secondly he's just been to check over my new central heating system. He's really reliable, punctual and nice to deal with. He's helped me to make sense of - and improve - what is a very complicated underfloor system that didn't seem to be running very efficiently. 07881277385
  8. I have now used Jacqueline on 2 separate occasions for 2 very different projects. The first was for a tricky loft conversion and the second for a total refurb on a period property. Both times she has been exceptionally good at listening to ideas but also coming up with a broad range of her own, taking the time to guide me through all the possible avenues and alternatives. Her real forte I believe is her friendly, personable approach. Rather than bamboozling me with architectural jargon, she made the whole process transparent and straightforward. Her knowledge is extensive and she handled both our planning applications extremely professionally (we were awarded permission on both occasions). We are now living in a light filled, airy space that marries together the new and old elements of the building really successfully. If anyone would like further info please feel free to PM me. Edited to add: I have recommended her to at least 4 other friends and they have all been delighted with her service.
  9. I just wanted to add my bit for Steve and his team who did a sterling job on my 100-year old windows earlier this year (I've written about this elsewhere on the forum). Having had some building work done subsequently, a few of the windows had got knocked and panes cracked in the process. Steve's guys came over and repaired the lot (5 of them in all) in just a day and a half. I was dreading the dust and mess to be honest as the house is now (finally) nearly finished and Steve said the frames had to come out to get the glazing in. However his boys did a ridiculously neat job and were painstaking in the way they cleared up at the end of the day. Amazing service and didn't cost the earth. In my entire ground-floor-to-roof-refurb I can honestly say the windows were the least stressful element of the whole project.
  10. Thanks. Found someone now, which is good cos it is not proving that straightforward.
  11. Problem is I need it done before 7am tomorrow. Can you PM me if you're available and let me know how much it'd be. I'm in SE21. Thanks.
  12. I can totally vouch for Ayesha's 'Frozen' themed cakes. She produced one for my daughter's 7th birthday which went down an absolute storm. Feedback from the friends at the party was that the cake was the highlight. The detail was extraordinary - edible snowflakes, glittery icing - but it don't have that horrible shop-bought manufactured look about it. Tasted delicious too and stayed moist for ages. A big thumbs up....
  13. Obviously I've found a few places online but am keen to hear from anyone who has recommendations. Am after a white marble effect quartz/silestone. Thanks.
  14. Thanks everyone, I've contacted a couple of the above suggestions. Your quick responses are much appreciated.
  15. Anyone know a great one? I've been in touch with a couple on here (Matt Smith) but they're booked up and I'm in a bit of a hurry.
  16. Anyone know a good one?
  17. That helps loads - thanks so much for taking the time to give such an informative reply. Am attempting it this weekend, fingers crossed.
  18. Thanks ed_pete. How did you get a good finish on it? I'm thinking lots of sandpapering and a foam roller.
  19. Anyone done it? Googling brings up conflicting advice re. what kind of paint to use. Emulsion or oil based? I'm erring on side of the latter but would like to hear from someone who's already done it if poss...
  20. Its a long shot I know. Particularly interested in Speedex tools.
  21. All sounds brilliant. I'm gonna give it a whirl - patch test first. Thanks so much people-in-the-know.
