Stop picking daffodils from GG and Peckham Rye Park!!
Louisa replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My daffodil rant was a relevant cause at the time, and as we approach Spring I would like to thank TM for once again bringing one of my greatest and most informative posts back to life again in 2010! It is indeed at this time of year we start to see the young plants stemming up from the ground, through the frost and ice, just to struggle their way into March and April so that they can produce those wonderful joyous and colourful flowers for all of us to appreciate. Be under no illusion people of ED, I will be reigniting my anti-daff picking campaign this year, and if I do happen to see some selfish sod going around picking I will not hesitate to publicly shame them on GG or the Rye - BE WARNED!!! Louisa. -
Louisa is torn. Yes another addition to the area, and it is clearly popular as I went in for a smoked salmon and cream cheese sarny on sunday and it was mobbed with excited looking pensioners and posh broadsheet reading cosmo types stocking up on brown rice and ready served mixed leaf salad. My gripe with it is that one, it isnt M&S simply food, and two, it isnt the co-operative. I absolutely HATE Sainsbury's and would have rather seen anything in it's place. As for the old one liner nugget on 'indy' stores, well I couldnt give a toss. If they dont up the anti, supermarkets will come in and take trade off of them, but from the sounds of it this could be the best possible outcome for them. Now bring on the the simply food so I can treat myself to some chocolate corn flake bites! Louisa.

Any such pudding club endorsed by me, Louisa - will have written in it's constitution something along these lines; 'bugaboos and the adults who push them are not to be allowed within 20 yards of any pudding club meeting, ever' Louisa. -

I would share my recipe but the last time I did so a certain gentleman who shall remain nameless stole it and went on to win the cake competition at Ilfracombe Carnival with my Bakewell tart recipe! Cheeky bugger! I have fiddled with a spotted dick recipe in the kitchen once or twice but sadly it doesn't quite cut the mustard. I am still learning! Louisa. -

I would just like to finally declare that yes I did apply for this show some time ago and was turned down. For various reasons I cannot disclose too much information as to why they turned me down, however I am rather angry that an ordinary girl such as myself doesn't stand a chance on such a show, presumably because I dont buy organic carrots or pretend I am saving the world with my ethically farmed smoked salmon! If I had of made the cut, I would have happily made my homemade Sicilian Duck (something I proudly conjured up back in the 70's). I have had numerous dinner parties and have consistently received praise on every ocassion. I personally think these stupid shows are a bloody con and that they are blatantly fixed from the start. I spend many hours in the kitchen playing with various bits of meat and fish, conjuring up new recipe ideas. I was approached by a leading magazine back in 1986 to do an article on my homemade puddings. I have always received a warm response from anyone who has ever had a mouthful of my treacle sponge. So if I had been unfortunate enough to have been invited on, I would certainly have dished up some of that for dessert! As for the starter, well you cant go wrong with a melon with the cherry in the middle, and yes before the Islington Organic Brigade (ED brance) come down on me, they would be fresh cherries from a supermarket, i'm not a complete killjoy you know! Bloody load of nonsense that show is, it makes me angry just thinking about it. Back to the bottle of sparkling shiraz on the side me thinks! Cheers! Louisa. -
*Bob* I would have done but it has more than likely already been spent at Ann Summers, sorry to destroy your little fantasy of my communist undertones hehe Much love Louisa.

Local shops, schmocal shops, it's a bloody recession no one in their right mind would think that going to a small independent retailer would be in some way 'better'! "They give advice" - incorrect, what they do is, cleverly pretend they know what they are talking about so that it encourages you to return to their overpriced little shop as opposed to go up to one of the major DIY outlets! If you had the slightest clue about anything, you would know that going out to do some DIY shopping would be quite an enjoyable experience, and I have (more than likely against the grain on here) been pleasantly suprised with the great advice I have received at various B&Q, Homebase and Wickes stores, throughout London. I have now come to the conclusion that some 'with it' folk just enjoy wasting money in small shops because they do clearly have money to burn, either that or they are just complete fools who think that it is a better experience in a cramped little shop along LL. I am happy I have saved an extra couple of hundred quid this year shopping at a major retailer, go waste your cash good folk of ED! Louisa.

Jesus, i've heard it all now, some people really do need to actually 'get a life'. Our roads are loaded up with traffic at the best of times and a bunch of people with a poorly thought out attempt at being 'good samaritans' now want to clog the roads even more at key times during the day and cause motoring chaos! I am absolutely horrified! Here's an idea, why not go to your nearest shopping centre and pay a fiver to get a tacky gift for your kid from some strange bearded man pretending to be the coca-cola slash pagan child snatcher 'santa' 'father christmas' whatever you call him, and the rest of us can use the roads we pay good money to drive our cars on! Goodness me I always appear to cause a stir and all I want from life is to achieve a better ED for everyone :-) I complain about daffodil picking - damage to public property I complain about lost business in a recession - snow day back in February I complain about how bad it is that pubs sell pizza and how Pizza Hut is offocially the best selling take-away in Rome.. I provide a public debate about some hot contested issues locally and all I get is ridiculed and made to look like some sort of bad person :-( I give up going on long distance breaks in future, clearly ED needs me here to raise the profile of issues which otherwise would not get a mention. Back on topic, these yummies are a menace to cohesion in ED and they must be stopped from ghettoisation in the NCR district before it is too late. We need a McDonalds or similar to open up along that stretch to put a stop to this middle-class infiltration once and for all before it is too late. And to my critics thus far I say this.......YOU ARE TALKING SH*T!!! Louisa.

Just because a lady wishes to talk about bugaboos it does not mean she is a fan of having children herself! Goodness me, for the first time tonight I am actually almost offended! Louisa.

Some of these mothers are not 'hard done by at home mothers who need to get out during the day', they are wealthy ladies of leisure who are living off of plastic! It is an utter disgrace that working class mothers have to see this kind of thing! And...clearly lots of people care, hence why my thread has created such a huge response! Louisa.

Ooh, what a challenge! Well oddly enough, i've already come to the conclusion you are not "working-class", and by telling me you enjoy shopping trips along NCR with bugaboo you have already proven my point! Maybe you should now be the one proving to all of us you are not? Louisa.

clux, you are slightly dubious to me, your claim to be from working-class stock doesnt match up to me.. hmmm... i'm suspicious.. Louisa.

Assest my love, you do amuse, but sadly Louisa is not taking the bait this evening hehe... I think I have made my point and I am only prepared to talking about the topic on which this thread was about in the first place lol Nice try though! Louisa.

You clearly speak for the entire community, perhaps when you wake up you should see a doctor about the apparant dellusions of grandeur you have! Louisa.

Asset, I think the only thing that is fantasy in this thread so far is your suggestion that innocently sluring on a cup of tea in a cafe is anything other than the pursuit of middle class mothers who clearly dont have a care in the world! Let's face, when did you last see one of those bugaboo things parked outside a wimpy or starburger? NEVER! they go to places like Blue Mountain because it suits there middle-class capitalist spending spree, plus it is a way of sticking two fingers up at the worst off mothers who are being hit hard by the credit crunch! Anyway, if I am apparantly a fantasist creating stories on here maybe it would be a wise move not to retaliate to my posts? LOL... jesus, you do amuse me very much my love... please continute ;-) Louisa.

Your money? hu hum... and yes, recessions are tough times, therefore people should be staying home drinking PG tips or any other bog standard label of tea if they claim to be 'working-class', and believe me Mr's Lee B I have my doubts! > All the mummy friends I have in ED are normal, > lovely ladies - a far cry from the ignorant, > more-money-than sense sloane rangers you are > describing here - You clearly know all the yummys in ED, i do apologise, I should have known! > indeed many of them aren't even > receiving maternity pay from their employers - so > what if they want to nurse a cup of tea for the > afternoon - motherhood (contrary to ill-informed > belief) is hard bloody work and can be quite > lonely so why shouldn't we be allowed to get out > and about in the local community? Why cant they go to the Wimpy on Rye Lane or some other working-class establisment if indeed they are normal lovely ladies of "working class stock" as you appear to be suggesting > A final point: I would say the majority of people > in ED are tolerant, top people who I would like to > think do not share your view. Good for them, this is my view, and if that doesnt suit your fairyland view of the rest of ED then booo bloomin hooo! Anyway, back to the discussion, anyone fancy a glass of Dom i'm getting into this now! Louisa.

Call yourself working class with a bugaboo? tut tut! The key point is, do you go into these overpriced shops to buy produce, or are you more of an Iceland girl? Walking down NCR with a pram does not count unless you frequent a proportion of the shops! candj, I am impressed you can too stomach that ridiculously long journey! Louisa.
-
BTW, there is nothing wrong with a bit of local intolerance by love, especially if it is for the benefit of the entire ED community. Now where do we start, I think Blue Mountain is a hot-spot in attracting these yummys, would anyone else agree? Louisa.

Asset Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Goodness, extended round the world trips too, my > my you must be even more wealthy than we thought Asset, i'll have you know I have been saving for nearly 2 months to get together the 6k it took for that trip, and to be fair to me, it takes a lot out of you when you are having to change at Hong Kong both there and back on a marathon 27 hour journey. It is no walk in the park my love believe me! I bet half of those jet setting yummys wouldnt be able to stomach such a trip, it takes true working class balls of steel to do it! Louisa.
