  1. Asset, at least I go to the nearest supermarket to buy my wine in bulk so as to save a bit of money, these crazy capitalists spend endless afternoon's being ripped off by cafe owners along NCR with not a care in the world (other than when hubbys bonus may emerge so they can go on a shopping spree in Knightsbridge). Assest i've just returned after a long tiresome journey half way round the world, I think even I deserve a take away tonight rather than slaving over a hot stove! Louisa.
  2. candj, at first I thought it must be an irrational phobia I have of wealthy middle class ladies who have nothing better to do than sit in cafe's all afternoon supping on Earl Grey, but no, I have come to the conclusion that it must be more than that. I think NCR should be for the benefit of all ED-er's and this 'ghetto' part of town has become almost dangerous for folk of a different socio-class to walk down, as I say above, especially of a weekday afternoon. It is about time I reignited my outspoken campaign to stop community separtion and create a bit of cohesion, and this is especially true of NCR. As LuLu Too says, the Michael Hodges effect may well have caused this 'ghetto' community to have almost sprung up from the ground, but whatever the cause it needs a remedy, and fast. Please *Bob*, you forgot the Prawn Crackers you naughty boy :-P Louisa.
  3. Is it just me, or does there seem to be a steady concentration of yummyfication along North Cross Road? During the daytime especially, I have noticed that certain shops and cafe's along this stretch seem to be the exclusive haunt of yummys with prams, especially during weekdays. LL seems to be getting away quite lightly of late, but this gradual concentration in this area is driving away folk of a different shopping class, and what makes it worse is the fact that shops aimed at everyone else seem to be disappearing in favour of exclusively yummy based clientele. I do not wish to turn this into a yummyist rant exclusively, so I would welcome comments which are helpful in explaining why this sudden concentration of twenty to forty something middle-class house wife group have suddenly decided to colonise this small corner of sunny ED. Louisa.
  4. I have been busy sunning it down under for a few months to escape the drabness that is British summertime. I am beetroot faced and partially inebriated in the back garden on my laptop currently. This bottle of Merlot is going down a treat. Louisa.
  5. I love irrational threads like this. I go away for a few months and the yummy brigade think they can come up with ridiculous threads like these and get away with it! Firstly, if anyone needs to be put on a lead over on the rye, it is those annoying pastie faced little brats often 'mothered' by over-bearing yummies who have nothing better to do than exercise there offspring, often in groups clustered around that cafe, and act as though a tsunami is coming their way the minute a yappy little yorkie makes eye contact with one of the offspring! Secondly, bloody middle-class 'joggers' who think they are in L.A wandering around in super-dry or gio-goi trackies really do get my back up. they often take a wide birth by a couple of hundred metres of anything that looks suspiciously working-class or threatening! Get a life! Rant over. Louisa.
  6. Is it true Laura Ashley are interested in the Woolwich site? I have it on good authority from a close friend that they have been sniffing around ED and Dulwich for a while now looking for the right location. Another friend at M&S tells me this is one of their key sites. How the F shops at a place like that? Why cant it be Ann Summers FFS! Louisa.
  7. I have been confronted by flashers on a number of occasions over the years, most notably Belair Park in the mid-80's, but the idea of a teenager in a small group doing it is just astonishingly scary. Thankyou for warning us all and I shall be on my guard in future. Louisa.
  8. Admin, believe me, it most certainly is not out of the realms of most EDF forumite imaginations, as well you know ;-) Louisa.
  9. Keef thankyou, quids is just jealous he didnt think of it first. Although he is now an accepted part of the EDF crew, I had better shut my mouth before Sean sends the heavy mob down. :)) Louisa.
  10. haha didnt stop everyone having a peak did it? hehe, Louisa is in a playful mood today. Louisa.
  11. in Glasgow... Bless you my darlings, a million miles away from being close enough for a cigar. Louisa.
  12. Well lets not get too hung up on Peckham Rye being in Peckham, it's in ED as we all know. I've been told clowns from Forest Hill often invade the park at night searching for new ways to steal benches, those depraved b*stards. Louisa.
  13. The Irish Festival is one of the few local events I cannot find fault with, loved it for years now and well done to everyone involved for yet another fun packed day for everyone. If I have one minor annoyance it would be the fact that the rubbish isnt cleared off the rye, broken glass bottles, people using the doggy bins to put other rubbish in (and then coming on here moaning when dog owners dont do a s*it pick etc), but overall excellent. Louisa.
  14. Kids carrying knives is not an issue to be taken lightly, the fact that year on year stabbings in the youngest age group of people has increased so dramatically suggests any suspicious activity involving any sort of weapon should immediately be reported. Louisa.
  15. I cant wait for the reopen, and will certainly be popping in for some of the black stuff. Seem's a shame the owner felt it needed smartening up, as long as it doesnt attract the pretentious Claphamite edgy mob I will be happy. :)-D Louisa.
  16. Yes my love, just remember to keep that dictionary close by just incase you get bored ;-) Louisa.
  17. I often believe that it is simply a case of 'damage limitation' when it comes to the up keep and maintenance of our public paths and highways. The car driver does indeed use the roads and take up more space, and we cannot have an unlimited number on the roads forever, so it does in many ways make sense that we should pay insurance, road tax and other things for the luxury of car use, but I equally believe that cyclists should not be made to have it hassle free either. I do often see arrogant users of vehicles other than motor driven ones abusing the rules of the road, and so I believe that it is only fair that certain rules should apply to keep them on the straight and narrow. Milton Keynes (laid out somewhat different to London) has a very successful cycle route running the length and breadth of the town and thus keeps cyclists off of the major roads, which in turn creates a better situation for everyone. We need to do something - maybe a consulation on this issue would be helpful. Louisa.
  18. lousiana, maybe if I were a upstanding pillar of the community like yourself I would be able to master the English language slightly better, but taking my post apart based on the spelling and/or meaning of my words is just snobbish and arrogant, as well you know. Oh well that is just another example of how I clearly wind you up as going a million miles off the topic is something you seem to be able to master far better than any other poster on here. Anyway, better luck next time in trying to wind me up, I think you had better get back to that dictionary before something called 'getting a life' comes and stares you in the face. :)) Louisa.
  19. I used my hooter in shear anger and annoyance at the arrogance of this evil cyclist. I am not one to usually hold a grudge, but if this so and so crosses my path again I wont hesitate to open my mouth. Bloody sod! I personally think that all cyclists should be made more accountable for their actions on the road. They use it just as much as every other vehicle and yet pay nothing towards the up keep. Make them pay road tax and give them identity plates so we can make them more accountable for their actions. Godamnit' Louisa.
  20. Just to warn people of a very rude cyclist who seems to think it is perfectly acceptable to cut people up during rush hour traffic and not expect people to hoot him. I was driving through the village this morning minding my own business when a very inconsiderate person cut across the traffic in front of me causing me to swerve, I naturally pressed the hooter rather loudly because I was upset with him, and raised my hands in the air to indicate my disappointment at his cycling skills. When I came to some stationary traffic he banged on my window and started hurling abuse at me, using the F word and generally suggesting that I was indeed in the wrong for "raising two fingers at him", something which I certainly did not do. I was so shocked at his arrogance and contempt for me as a fellow road user I was for once gobsmacked. He actually believed he was in the right despite me pointing out his obvious failings. Anyway, if you are reading this mr cyclist man, I have your number for next time and do not expect me to be quite so polite if it happens again! Louisa.
  21. lenk in all fairness you do a good job of misrepresenting your own argument most of the time, I really do not need to do it for you my love :)) Louisa.
  22. lenk thats rich coming from someone who has gone through 2 or 3 screen names in as many months after p*ssing off so many people on here, including admin? Well done you. Maybe we should all take a leaf out of your book and believe everything you say about the butchers in Peckham as you have such a superb track record on here for talking.... :)) Louisa.
  23. Pedestrians do my head in, as a car user I am paying a bloody fortune to use the roads and I think that as such the people use the pavements should be a little more considerate rather than ignorantly walking out in front of me slowly, forcing me to brake hard and not even putting their hand up 9 times out of 10 to apologise. Also, the ignorant sods who use pelican crossings could do with some manners too, very few of them thank the driver for stopping to let them across the road. Maybe we should start charging people a foot tax for having the priviledge to walk up and down our pavements with buggies, wheelchairs and shopping trolleys. Louisa.
  24. PeckhamRose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Louisa is not just a snob she's ignorant. > I have not seen behind the counters, though. They > may be dirty there Well done PeckhamRose for contradicting yourself in this post which I failed to notice earlier on in the thread. You clearly must have psychic powers if you can conclude that I am ignorant for believing something when you also do not have the facts either. Laughable hahaha :-S At least I can report back that I have seen rats and most people on here agree the meat is cheap and the animal it is taken from probably had an awful life. Maybe you could check behind the counter the next time you go down there and report back to us? Louisa.
