  1. The food is really quite average at El Paso, and probably a bit pricey for what you get.
  2. The old captain was quite camp too!
  3. Well, the Plough is generally quite busy at any time of day. Not sure how many people are eating their food, but hopefully they'll buck up their ideas if enough people complain, send the food back and eventually stop ordering it.
  4. Well, ED prices are ED prices. The only way to make a stand against it is to not frequent the said establishments. Having said that, the prices in Peckham are rapidly approaching, or sometimes overtaking, ED prices. Check out the prices of food in the Clockhouse on Barry Road and the Rye Hotel - shocking! The only cheap place to eat in Peckham is at the superb little caff in the Rye Market. I must check out the Bishop, have never eaten there.
  5. Yes I hated the young trendy captain. He didn't even have a beard, did he!
  6. I sympathise with you. Our neighbour upstairs has a wee one who likes to run up and down for hours, sometimes till about 1 in the morning, and I'm sure he's only about 7. Luckily on a weekday he wears himself out around 11pm so I've managed not to go up there and have to make a fuss, although sometimes when I fancy an early night, it can be a bit of a bore. Hope you managed to sort something out!
  7. Welcome to the area! I'm on Barry Road. Parking is generally fine, although there can be competition for parking spots, especially when the local man with van parks his removal lorry next to our house! I've found the area totally safe (am female). The number 12 bus and 197 are frequent, plus the buses from Lordship into town are a bit quicker as they bypass Peckham which can be very slow with traffic. As for supermarkets, I get mine delivered online as I don't have a car. Ocado and Sainsbury's are very reliable.
  8. Oh no, what a shame Kat. I hope you find somewhere else soon. I'm sure you'll have a lot of support for your business from local residents.
  9. Yes I do find the food at The Plough rather disappointing. It's usually slow to arrive, and the choice is not that great if you are vegetarian. And it's quite pricey, although it is East Dulwich, so no point really mentioning that, but I don't think it's good value for money.
  10. Hmm, lots to think about. I'll go look around Kings and if I don't like the look of it, will check out St. Thomas', really hard to make the decision having seen neither of them. Thanks for the tips! x
  11. I have recently found out I am pregnant and have been offered two options of hospital to give birth: St Thomas' or King's College. Can you anyone tell me about their experiences at either of these hospitals? Not sure which one to pick!
  12. Well she's still emulsion-painted up but not in the bandages, my boyfriend topped up her electricity key with some cash about 3 months ago when she asked us for some money.
  13. Crossroads caff on Bellenden Road does amazing fish and chips lunch on Fridays (probably about ?4). I'm heading over there in a couple of hours!
  14. I wasn't that impressed with the food when I ate there in August. Just thought it was particularly average.
  15. I'm on Barry Road and would definitely be interested in a reciprocal cat minding service. PM me if you're near Dulwich Library or within about 1/2 a mile of there.
  16. Since July 2007. I made the journey from North of the River down to South. It's a lot different!
  17. Really? I've never pulled in Drum, EDT, Inside 72 and the Bishop. Not that I was looking to pull, but everyone just kept to themselves in there
  18. Gabby?s Caribbean takeaway on Peckham high street does great food if you need a jerk fix!
  19. ED's never struck me as the place for singletons. You'd be best of trying Bar Story in Peckham (although it's not ED anymore!)
  20. I've had a look at those, not close up though. But the cuttings all focus on how gun crime and lawlessness is taking over London. Then there's a yellow sheet attached to it, presumably which has the info about who put up all the clippings. As I don't get off at that bus stop, I've not felt the need to investigate further!
  21. Yes, nothing good to say about Foxtons, particularly from a landlord's point of view as I've been strongly advised against using them by several people who have let and rented using their services. However, Bushells seem OK. Thanks for the tip about Property Broker, I might investigate that as I'm thinking of selling soonish.
  22. Slightly off-topic...Do any of you pay to offset the carbon emissions from your flights? I'm considering doing so for my next holiday flights.
  23. May I just add that I'm a piano teacher in ED and am happy to take any of StrictTeacher's pupils whose mothers may have been offended by Margaret's ridiculuos comments! Lorraine (Maybe I should be opportunistic and offer a 10% discount like the White Stuff did!!)
  24. Was anyone there? As I met up with friends, but couldn't help but noticed an empty table with "Reserved for EDF"...
  25. Can anyone recommend an orthodontist for adults? Thanks!
