I think it's ?2 for under 1, but once over 1 it appears to be ?6.45, although I am sure a 13 month old could sneak in for the ?2 price. My 10 month old daughter loves it - there is a mini sandpit, the carousel, the ball pool and she also likes the book corner with the bean bags - lots of space to crawl -

Passing on some info to some ED mums who may be interested. If you are, get in touch with Monica from Londonmums - [email protected]. There should be payment to cover travel and childminding costs. ---- Hi lovely London Mums the BBC has just called to ask our support. They are making a one hour documentary on the dairy industry for BBC3 and are looking at serious issues concerning the dairy industry such as the current crisis dairy farmers are facing. BBC 3 has a young hard-to-reach audience of 16 - 35 year olds so their programme will use humour and irreverence to tell the stories and to get the point across. At present 2 dairy farmers a day are going out of business as they are not able to get a high enough price for their milk. If this rate continues, by 2030 we will not be producing enough milk to support our dairy industry and 53% of our dairy products will have to be imported. We love our fresh milk in the UK but this industry may not be sustainable and it could be possible that we will need to drink UHT (long life) milk in the future. So as the programme goes about making this serious point in a tongue-in-cheek way, the presenter - Alex Riley - would like to suggest to the supermarkets that we should think about the milk of the future. He will suggest that perhaps the milk of the future should be Breast Milk as a natural alternative to dairy milk. So to illustrate this story the BBC would like to film the presenter meeting and chatting to a group of breastfeeding mothers (they don't expect them to breastfeed on camera) to suggest his plan for the milk of the future and to get their reactions. He will then ask the group if they would consider becoming part of his supply chain - would they and their network consider supplying some of their milk to his new Breast Milk range? Of course this range will never actually exist in reality. They are just interested in getting the mothers' reactions and also chatting about their humour and ideas around this concept. Alex will ask the mothers if he could put in an order with them and their network for a future supply of breast milk so that he can supply the supermarkets. Again of course this will never actually happen in reality. Ideally they would like to do this some time in the week of 17th August as they are very near the end of the project and don't currently have any filming time left after that. they're looking for some mothers with a sense of humour (!) who would be happy to chat to our presenter on camera. they will pay expenses (within reason) to those mothers for their travel to the filming location which will be in London. It wouldn't take any longer than 2 hours at the very most and would hopefully be a fun experience for all involved. Please let me know if you want to help out. I hope to hear from you soon as we need to start booking locations etc. Thanks a million. monica

Which Car Seat (next step up from newborn)
lorraineliyanage replied to Superstarpen's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Im, we have the Maxi Cosi Priori and the clasp is SO fiddly, takes me ages to get Iris strapped in. And yes, one strap is always twisted round. However, it only takes Lou seconds to do, so must be something to do with my sausage fingers!! She does look very comfy and happy in it. -
maternity allowance - self-employed

I doubt they would have picked it up, but they are good at backdating payments if an error has been made. The tax credits lot seem pretty helpful on the phone. -

Yep I just did my 08/09 tax credits form and MA is NOT included in your income for this either - phew! -
C sections aren't so bad to recover from, although this will vary from person to person. Mine wasn't planned, but the recovery time was fairly quick. I had my baby at King's Wednesday AM, was home by Friday afternoon, and back at work 2 weeks later. I was only in pain for the first day after the anaesthetic wore off. My scar is quite big, and was puffy for ages, but has gone down now and doesn't look too bad!

The chemist on Lordship Lane near the John Alan flower shop sell Avent nipple shields. They take some of the ouch factor away, although your little one may grumble about sucking through a bit of plastic.

formula milk - which one?
lorraineliyanage replied to BellendenBear's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I use Nannycare goat's milk formula for my daughter when I am working. This is not for any particular reason, but we don't drink any milk products at home, and goat's milk formula seems less heavy than cow's milk. That's not based on any scientific research, though, just personal opinion! -

Nelson's Teetha worked wonders for my small one. I'm not keen on all the chemicals on Bonjela, Calgel etc -
earlier and earlier riser
lorraineliyanage replied to KateMontero's topic in The Family Room Discussion
hi kate. iris goes to bed anywhere between 8.30pm - 9.30pm and sleeps till about 9am, waking for a feed somewhere between 4am - 6am (i never look at the clock, it's too depressing!) and then she goes back to nod. i avoid making any chit-chat with her when she wakes for her nighttime feed, i just boob her in bed and usually keep my eyes closed to give her a hint that it's sleepy time! it does, of course, mean that we don't have any time in the evening without her but i'd rather have a good night's sleep right now! -
Good nurseries/state nurseries
lorraineliyanage replied to newgirl's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Gumboots is a Community Nursery although not significantly cheaper, but worth a try. If you search for nurseries, there have been many discussions about the pros and cons of the various nurseries in ED -
I wouldn't sweat it too much about the size of the baby, 4lbs 9 oz sounds a good size for the stage you're at. My daughter was 3 lbs 12 at 30 weeks and ended up being 8 pounds 6 at birth. They are quite into scaremongering at Kings for some reason. I was told at 12 weeks my baby might have growth problems and had to have scans up until 30 weeks. I found this scan so frightening that I refused to go back to Kings for any more. It's not a bad thing to carry a smaller baby - less to squeeze out?!!!? Hopefully someone can shed some more light on this as I have no idea what it means scientifically, but the 50th percentile is a good place to be.
