  1. I booked the community centre on east darrell road, two rooms, loads of space for about 100 or more people and you can bring your own food and booze (they have a kitchen)
  2. I'm off too see Aladdin in Wimbledon with Pamela Anderson!
  3. I just noticed they have bikes for sale, I thought they only did accessories. Luckily too expensive for me to even consider :P
  4. Once you've got your perfect bike, this web site does the best accessories!
  5. Clare - my daughter is at Bright Horizons Dulwich Nursery in Sainsbury's car park and I believe they take babies from 3 months old
  6. molly - to register the birth, i think you need an NHS number from the midwives, so even if you had a homebirth, i think the actual date and time will have been recorded already...
  7. oh i had no idea tea amore does them, i'm passing there in a bit so will pop in amd buy some
  8. ADriana - hope to see you soon sheradene - My daughter goes to Dulwich Nursery in Sainsbury's Car Park and really loves it there. It's a small nursery so she gets lots of individual attention and gets on really well with the staff.
  9. Stockwell has some great Portuguese restaurants, I think Camberwell has a couple too. Which ones do you go to? Sorry to hijack the thread with talk of natas!
  10. Hi Mums - there is also quite a busy Facebook group that you can join to find out about local meetings in SE22 / SE21: http://www.facebook.com/#/group.php?gid=197374735121&ref=ts
  11. thanks mellors, will put it on my to-visit list once it gets a bit warmer there. mmm those little custard tarts... i think they are called Natas?? they sell them in dulwich vilage at Shepherd's!
  12. Hi adriana - when is gumboots going to be back at Crystal Palace road after the building work is complete? My daughter is on the waiting list, she's Lily-Mae's smaller sister, Iris. She turns 2 in October 2010 so keen to start her at Gumboots whenever you're back in East Dulwich as Lily-Mae loved it so much there :)
  13. where did you stay, mellors? portugal is on my to-visit list...
  14. Fortnightly sounds right. It will move up to weekly soon, around 38 weeks
  15. I was the oldest in the class (Septemeber 3rd) but then got bumped - skipped the last year of primary school so went to high school 1 year early. It didn't really make any difference at this point, and it was great to finish school at 17 as I went travelling and bumming around for a couple of years before starting university.
  16. Essaouira in Morocco is fantastic - beachy and relaxing, less hectic than Marrakech. Also look into Turkey, it's the most family-friendly place you will ever go to, they absolutely adore children there. We went to an area called Datca near Dalaman, quite a long transfer from the airport, but absolutely beautiful. We booked through Anatolian Sky - call them and they can recommend the child-friendly hotels to you.
  17. Molly - I've got a weeride that fits onto my ladies' bike with a basket, so I think the Humax is probably possible, but do check out the Weeride, it's brilliant!
  18. powercow - just because it's written in a report, it doesn't mean it's all doom and gloom for your daughter. A lot of learning depends on the support provided outside of school. In my experience of teaching, it levels out much earlier, around ages 7 to 8. I don't think your daughter will be lagging behind until age 16. If you are really concerned, there are tutors available for children in this area from age 2 to get them ready for the entrance tests to the private schools (not that I am necessarily recommending this option!).
  19. As a teacher, it's worth pointing out that there isn't that much to learn academically in the reception year that she couldn't be taught at home, it's quite a gentle introduction to schooling. Have a look through the curriculum for the EYFS to check out the requirements as I don't think your daughter would be at a disadvantage if Southwark won't defer her school entry - they are sticklers for the rules when it comes to school starting age.
  20. The cab firm on Barry Road are good and very quick - 0208 693 1000
  21. The fact that we are on the forum on a saturday evening says it all! :P
  22. sounds like a good plan, can't be doing with any noisy bars full of people born in the 80s! :P
  23. Pickle - can you get me one when you next go back to NZ? Sounds sooo cosy!! Heh heh Molly - maybe we should start up "wine and slippers" evenings?!
  24. SW - I might ask my mum to get me one for xmas! I'm not in any rush to regain my youth, it was far too "lively" for me to be able to cope with that nowadays!
  25. I am a bit of an old fogey at the age of 32. I like to keep my feet warm with slippers when it's cold and I like to go to bed around 11pm at the latest. I've even toyed with getting an electric blanket because I hate being cold in bed but my other half has banned me from such granny activity. I also hate going out to bars. I went to Black Cherry for 5 mins on a Fri night and had to leave as the music was just too loud! Pickle - my nanna is 95 and still going strong, although I think she's made of tougher stuff than I am!
