Chilren's Circus Classes

Where would you be running the classes? I have found some trapeze classes for youngsters in Clapham but none any nearer. -
One of those parenting 'moments'.....
lorraineliyanage replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Molly, I'm sure you're handy enough to sew something amazing, but I did get Bombi a very cute little star outfit from Sainsburys! It's not quite the traditional angel theme but maybe you could make O something like this? -
Advice wanted - Baby won't take bottles..
lorraineliyanage replied to amydown's topic in The Family Room Discussion
billy, it's an awful feeling isn't it? my daughter rejected the bottle at 5 months old and didn't get back on it until 8 months and I nearly had to consider giving up work so that i could be there to feed her! -
Thursday mornings are also a possibility, I don't think there are many playgroups running on Thursdays. Also, I'll need mums to help run the group as I may not be able to be there weekly, so it will have to suit the days that the group organisers can do. Let me know if you'd like to help out. Edited to add that I'll organise the NCT teagroup separately as this is only suitable for small babies, no toddlers allowed usually.

Do grandparents care for your children regularly?
lorraineliyanage replied to emc's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes my grandmother looks after my daughter two days a week this reply has probably come a bit late :) -
It seems unlikely that you'll be able to pick and choose your schools as it is, indeed, a lottery with schools in ED. Even if you are given a school that has poor results in one subject area, then there is nothing to stop you spending extra time at home with your child to make sure that they stay ahead of the curriculum. You just have to make the best of the situation that you are given with schools, most primary schools are of a reasonably similar standard with the intake of pupils (some exceptions to the rule are the schools in Dulwich Village, the Villa etc).

Put me down as a maybe. Will probably be too knackered to come along after the NCT party earlier in the day but if I can manage it, I will!

Push Studios have kindly donated space to run a teagroup or baby playgroup, perhaps on a weekly/fortnightly basis depending on the level of interest. This would be a free baby group with occasional guest speakers, mums and babes fitness classes, infant massage demos etc. What days would be most popular with ED mums? It would be good to avoid days when there are already lots of baby classes running (Friday seems to be a popular one for playgroups). Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AMs are looking like the best option but let me know if you're prefer an afternoon group. I have set up a poll here, please vote for your session of choice. If Push Studios are free at this time, then I'll go with the majority vote for the most popular day and time. I have only listed session times that I would be free to run the group, so please don't ask for Mondays or Fridays. http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/464458

Going back to work...or not!
lorraineliyanage replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would love to be a stay at home mum but to keep the money coming in, I work part-time from home. This option is really great and allows me to be my own boss as well as spend most of my time with my daughter. I can still spend mornings taking her to playgroups and I'm never apart from her for more than 4 or 5 hours, plus there's no commuting to be done, so this option works really well for me. Childcare costs are also quite reasonable as I only need half-day childcare. I love being a (sort of) stay at home mum, the first years of a baby's life are the most precious, I'd hate to be missing out that, plus working part-time gives me a break from her. Lots of ED mums have found new careers after having a child that allow them lots of flexibility to be around their children. -
Advice on poorly baby - alternative treatments?
lorraineliyanage replied to shellbear's topic in The Family Room Discussion
what about trying some probiotics in their bottle to sort their belly out? Udo's do some infant's choice probiotics - also available from healthmatters on lordship lane! monica or any of the staff there are pretty good at recommending alternative treatments, might be worth popping in to speak to them? -
Can anyone recommend a good local orthodontist?
lorraineliyanage replied to amydown's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Amy I just got my braces fitted last month (at the ripe old age of 32) by Dr. Casson just off Harley Street. His web site: More locally, there is an orthodontist on Wood Vale just off Lordship Lane. You will need a referral from your dentist. -
Advice on poorly baby - alternative treatments?
lorraineliyanage replied to shellbear's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Vicks on the feet is great as mentioned above. Healthmatters do a bryonia cough syrup, I think it's suitable for babies of 8 months old I'm sure, but check with them. It doesn't contain any alcohol as all the usual over-the-counter ones contain. -
Cookery clubs for young children locally?..

Minicook do classes around Greenwich and Blackheath, from age 2 or 3 -
If the group is large enough, the Rye Hotel might give you the space out the back of the pub - not sure how cold that will be though!

Yep a support belt sorted me right out as I was having lots of pelvic pain, but it moved into really strong lower back ache when I got to about 37 weeks. I bought one from Pretty Pregnant on Northcross Street
