  1. There's a fortnightly dad's group at peckham library on saturday mornings if you want to get your other half to take the littl'un while you get some time off!
  2. I think I'll try out that Bibi cup, Sanne Panne. Am definitely getting worried by the lack of teeth brushing and the bottle/sleep association. Another hurdle to figure out! I'm not worried about the calcium intake as my daughter eats plenty of cheese and yoghurt in her diet.
  3. my 15-month old still needs the bottle to fall asleep, am a bit worried about her teeth as they get brushed at evening bathtime, but never after the bottle. she's not keen on beakers, she wants normal cups, but only wants her milk from a bottle or boob. argh!
  4. nunheadmum, St Francesca Cabrini school may be a bit nearer to you?
  5. I wouldn't worry too much about the growth charts, Sam. My daughter is a greedy scoffer and only around the 20th/25th centile for weight so there's really no rhyme or reason to it.
  6. Jayne (see above) does children's haircuts
  7. Found one online at Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Peek-boo-tunnel-play-tent/dp/B002YXFGG4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=kids&qid=1263376805&sr=1-3
  8. Cheap vests and layering works a treat and saves you a fortune on pricey nursing tops. I found I can nurse wearing pretty much most of my normal tops, although I am left exposing my flabby belly quite a bit! How about the Pretty Pregnant store on Northcross, has loads of maternity tops? The Jojo tops have such weird slits - impossible to poke your nipple through!
  9. Pickle, I could give you a list of crazy stuff that they do. My mum still sterilises her sippy cup & bottle. She got mad at me for not using cooled boiled water for her sippy cup - I use tap water. She shouted at me not to do that. I said why. Her response: "because it may cause her problems in the future". Eh? There are more other bonkers things - oh yes, over Christmas, she put Iris to bed by rubbing her back until she fell asleep. We just give her a bottle then chuck her in bed. She came home demanding back rubs every time she was put down in the cot. Arrrgh! Having said that, as much as my parents drive me mad, their help is invaluable!
  10. Keef, we are very laidback parents, we definitely didn't follow any routine. I demand fed her, didn't give her any set nap times, no bedtime routine as I never knew what time she'd go to bed when she was smaller as quite often we'd be out and about with her in the evening. She decided around 1 year old that she wanted to go to bed around 6 or 6.30 and mostly sleeps through till 7 or 8am. Brilliant! It does mean that we can't really go out in the evening to visit friends / restaurants which we did a LOT when she was tiny but I don't mind making that sacrifice as she'll get perkier in the evenings once she's more active. Nursery wears her out so much that she's shattered by the time we get her home.
  11. bee74 - try out a table if you have the space. i know that my daughter has definitely acted more grown up since going to nursery (only a couple of days a week) which is a good counterbalance to do 2 days she spends with my parents who baby her loads (they still puree her food at 15 months, arrgh!)
  12. I read in the Gina Ford CLB that you should give the baby "sugar water" if they are grumbling between the 3 or 4 hours she recommends between feeds (can't remember how long she says to leave them). Couldn't be bothered reading it much past that point. Breast milk should be enough for the baby, not sugar water. I read lots of different baby books before and just after my baby was born, but abandoned them all and then just decided to go with the flow. We used to do all sorts non-gina things like let our baby hang out with us well past midnight and then let her go to bed in her Moses basket when we went to bed. Now at 15 months she has a routine that is brilliant but it's one that she came up with herself.
  13. Would you consider going to see a private paediatrician? I know it's awful having to wait!
  14. Bus to Peckham > Then 436(?) to Paddington > then the Heathrow Express. I'd work on the 'getting a lift' option though!
  15. I used to strip my daughter down to her babygro or nappy for the nighttime feed and let her be as messy as she liked, then chuck her in the bath afterwards. Sanne - we have the same thing with the water cup, that gets flung all over, usually when she's done eating, she likes to tip the sippy cup upside down and empty out as much water as possible. However, if she finds a cloth, she'll start mopping up her mess, although she usually mops a patch that isn't wet!
  16. I used to bathe and do all other bathroom rituals with the baby on the changing mat on the floor in the bathroom with me. I also had quite a few "showers" in the sink, including washing my hair!
  17. I moved my daughter around 13 months out of the highchair onto a little table and chair and she loves mealtime much more as she feels more like an adult now! She also has the same little table and chair at nursery so perhaps that's why she didn't like the highchair. We've had much less food flinging since we ditched the highchair.
  18. possibly can do the 20th although travelling back from belgium that day so it may be a bit ambitious to come out the same evening
  19. We've just booked Villa Pia in Italy, very baby-friendly so you won't need to lug loads of baby bits over there, plus they provide lots of baby purees, milk etc. Hven't been before so can't give you more info till April but have a look around the website. It has a private pool but no beach. http://www.villapia.com
  20. thanks for the links, found some good stuff on there :) have got enough felt for now, have made 1 t-shirt so far. have grand plans to make some more stuff but we shall see!
  21. Hi Clare, those colours sound good, would love to pop round and see what you've got. Can you PM me when and where? Thanks
  22. Hi Clare, not too bothered about the colours, but maybe something a bit girly would be good as it's for my daughter. Only have slightly yucky green and brown felt at home. Happy to buy some bright colours off you. Not too urgent Molly, but the whim to do something crafty will probably pass soon if I don't seize the moment!
  23. Hi Molly, that's a possibility, but was looking for somewhere nearer as can't really face a bus or bike ride to Lewisham in the snow :)
  24. Who's monitoots? Can't find that username on here
