  1. There isn't any irony to this at all. if you buy a coffee, the high price includes rent, staff, business rates, cost of the coffee machine etc. So it makes sense that they'd buy cheap milk
  2. How about a harmonium instead?
  3. Hi Tibbs I am a local piano teacher working from a piano studio on Pellatt Road. I teach many local children as well as adults. Please do get in touch so we can arrange a trial lesson for your son. Also have a look around my web site for more information, details of pupils exam marks, rates etc. Lorraine Liyanage http://www.se22piano.co.uk
  4. I'm not sure ED is predominantly white, although am not sure where you'd find the statistics, but someone out there must know how to. Just a quick glance around the streets (ok, maybe not Lordship Lane so much) and the kids going to schools such as Goodrich and Heber shows a good mix of ethnicities, but maybe this is not reflected in the nurseries and playgroups.
  5. The NHS immunisation website says up to 3 weeks for reactions. It is definitely worth seeing a different doctor at your surgery, and maybe also calling NHS Direct to see what they can advise.
  6. Can you get thiomersal-free vaccinations yet?
  7. Do GPs still diagnose normal flu, or has it been replaced with swine flu now? It seems like a lot of diagnoses are done over the phone so it's hard to say how accurate the amount of reported cases of swine flu is.
  8. I've never been there and most other places on Lordship I've only ever been during daylight hours with a group of mums. Sad, eh?!
  9. The Lodge is above EDT
  10. I doubt my HV would be interested if I got in touch just to get a referral to a playgroup, surely they have other things to do with their time?!
  11. I am organising a sponsored event for the under 5s to raise vital funds for the Meningitis Trust. The event will take place in April in Dulwich Park on Saturday the 24th of April in the morning. We will devise a short route for the toddlers and older children to waddle, walk or crawl along. Babies are welcome to come along too! It's free to participate in the event. All you need to do is raise a small amount of money to give to the Meningitis Trust and bring this with you on the day. You can also send out this link to your friends and family if they prefer to sponsor you online: http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/Dulwich If everyone also brings some food to share, we can have a little party in the park afterwards. We will also have a face painter and some arts and crafts for the kids. Send me a PM if you would like to get involved. You can read a bit more about the Toddle Waddle on the Meningitis Trust web site.
  12. Hi Fuschia, it was great, will send a PM with more info!
  13. Best of all, it's free. It's amazing how much brilliant free stuff for kids there is in Southwark.
  14. Yep I just remembered Leapers, will definitely do that as our regular Tuesday morning class as the 9am start is perfect. I like the woman who runs it, her no-nonsense discipline reminds me of my mum!!
  15. 13th is good for me, where shall we go? The Lodge?
  16. that sounds great, thanks for posting. always a nightmare finding somewhere decent to change a nappy other than department stores

  19. hi fuschia, i can't get to the CP one o'clock that easily as i can't drive and i think it's two busses from mine. it's too uphill otherwise i'd cycle it although it would be a good way to get fit!
  20. That definitely sounds like teething. My daughter used to really grumble at the boob when she was cutting a new tooth and also bit me quite a bit. If you are worried about milk supply dwindling, then keep expressing but I'm sure once the teething pain passes (for the current tooth, at least) she will latch back on happily. Try an amber necklace for the teething pain.
  21. sounds great, i'll look into it, ta! oh - it's tuesday afternoon at 2pm, i'll be baby-free by that point unfortunately
  22. I'm off to Vauxhall City Farm tomorrow which is easy to get to on the 185 bus
  23. Can you suggest some local classes on Tuesday mornings for a walking toddler to rampage around and maybe bop around to some music? The music and song classes are not of much interest as she just wants to go off exploring and jumping around now. Thanks
  24. I'll second the recommendation for Verona's course, I did this when my daughter was a week old.
