  1. i'd definitely be interested in getting involved in something like this
  2. They can't tell the sex just yet, but at your next scan (20 weeks, I think, but can't remember) you can find out.
  3. Just a reminder that this event is coming up in just over a month. If you'd like to get involved, please send me a message.
  4. I put my little one in the Micralite around 4 months and ditched the cumbersome Mamas and Papas Pliko pram that I couldn't stand as it was so bulky and difficult to maneouvre. You are welcome to come try out the Micralite Fastfold (the old one, not the new one)
  5. The fast fold is very light so I wouldn't bother too much about it being lighter. In fact, it tips over quite easily if you have some shopping on the handles and take the baby out before taking the shopping off. Reclining a bit further could be useful as my little one's head lolls forward when she sleeps due to the lack of recline. Other than that, it's great although it's a bit annoying how the front of it is quite wide. It is very easy to fold which is handy for travelling and storage
  6. i'll give the eye drops a couple of days, it looks like it's subsiding a bit but castor oil sounds worth a try, thanks
  7. No, but being reasonable, they can't be expected to cover such situations. It would be a great waste of taxpayers money if they were to post out letters to every single person who has ever attended. In fairness, most people, if ill, would not be away for 6 weeks so your situation is obviously exceptional. Anyway, a quick trip there to fill in a form will put your name down for the next session. curlykaren Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > well, if you were away or ill handing them out > when attending not really that useful?
  8. Yep this is all yellow and crusty and stickier on the inside of the eyes, the doctor prescribed fusilic acid which is more ointmenty than the drops, I managed to get some in her eye when she was in her pram and stirring from a nap. The first sign of me trying to fiddle with her face and she was wide awake, so I had to do it super fast!
  9. The BRIT School is for ages 14+ so I imagine lots of people transfer there after GCSEs. I teach two pupils there who absolutely love it.
  10. You should have had a phone call and / or a letter informing you of the decision, I think most of the mums got one of these or both.
  11. They were handing out application forms for a good few weeks in advance to all the attendees, so had you attended, you would have received a form. You can always go to the reception and pick one up for the next session of 10 weeks. To save costs, I imagine they wouldn't post out application forms, but hand them out when people attended which seems fair.
  12. Thanks for the advice. Didn't have a chance to get out to get the Brolene today and am about to start work. Ointment sounds like a good tip, I was thinking I'd have to put the eye drops in when she was asleep anyway but ointment should be less likely to wake her up.
  13. She screamed like I was trying to murder her when I tried to use a baby wipe to clear the crust this morning. It's so thickly crusted into her eyelashes that wiping it off with boiled water still leaves massive clumps of it in her lashes but at least means she can open her eyes properly! mumra - is the ointment easier to use than the drops? I think I'll definitely have to try this while she is asleep.
  14. My toddler has had really crusty eyes since Saturday, her eyes aren't red, but are glued together with yellow 'sleepy' crust! I have a doctor's appointment for her tomorrow, but is it worth trying breastmilk in her eye, not sure whether that's just for babies? I did a bit of googling and found something about camomile tea on a cotton wool ball, and my dad recommended salt water but I have no idea what's best. Thanks!
  15. Peckham Pulse has a great creche
  16. Well said, Heidi. Localmama, you have the support of many people on here.
  17. Nothing wrong with Primark, the quality's perfectly adequate for a white shirt. When I was at primary school, I used to love my tie on a a bit of elastic that I had to wear. Plus we had a really great colour school uniform, so used to wear it with pride.
  18. 4th in line isn't bad, you may still get a place! There is a nursery in Peckham that might be an Early Years Centre, it's in the Thomas Calton Centre. You can find out the details of it on the Southwark Council web site. There is also a new nursery in Peckham near the Tesco on Peckham Rye which may have spaces as it's only opened about 6 months ago.
  19. Charter School has a very strong art department
  20. The Mag was ?50 to hire last October, that's a shame they're put their prices up but I guess it's a popular venue.
  21. I'd recommend Claire who is on the forum, her username is Clazza, she's excellent with children of all ages, very reliable and has her own transport to get home which is a bonus for me as I can't drive. Her details are on this thread here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,391784,392847#msg-392847
  22. Laura has taken over Francine's yoga classes, although Francine is back from maternity leave, so she should be starting up the yoga classes again. They definitely are great for preparing you for the marathon of labour! Her mum and baby yoga classes are fab too
  23. I was told to stop breastfeeding in the waiting room at Southwark Registry Office when I registered my daughter's birth when she was 5 weeks old. It was, apparently, making some man feel uncomfortable about coming into the waiting room. I was pointed in the direction of the toilets to go breastfeed which I just ignored, although apparently the toilet there does double as a feeding room. Eitherway, it seemed a bit unhygienic and I not something I was prepared to do!
  24. My daughter and I have been going to Giles Davies and he's really excellent. He lives on Barry Road near Peckham Rye. His web site is: [www.gilesdavies.com] Phonecalls get a better response than emails, here's his numbers: 020 8516 0769 07739 414 210
