  1. The Peckham Refreshment Rooms are doing a pop-up restaurant at the St Stephen's Club on Queen Anne Gate SW1 today at 3pm - 6pm and they are doing afternoon tea. The pop-up is on for another week or so and they do lunch and dinner. I think the afternoon tea is today only. I am taking my daughter to it. https://m.facebook.com/events/242303192604607?aref=5&__user=100001954791838
  2. Not quite the same as rifling for personal date in the recycling bin but some berk dumped his dog's turd in my blue recycling bin the other day on Barry Road. Luckily I saw him and made him retrieve it from the bin. He didn't bother to offer an apology either - the arrogance of some people, eh!
  3. If anyone would like to meet up, here are some proposals for dates. Please add your name and availability and we'll see if there's a convenient date for all of us. Anyone is welcome to join in the pre-school meetup for Nursery and Reception (or older). http://www.doodle.com/yw385sbkqxrca8iu

  11. Yes! Saw it on a bollard between Goose Green School and Blackbird Bakery around 3pm.
  12. It'll all be fine. Takes a great deal more to kill a tree. They always spring leaves from the trunk when they are pollarded. Left unchecked these trees would cause major reduction in light levels, suck even more water out of the clay causing more subsidence and produce even more sticky drops on cars and pavements.Much less likely to be blown over in Autumn/spring gales too. The contractors have a lot of trees to get through during the year, so cannot do all their pollarding at an optimum time. The limes will be back!
  13. East Dulwich is a nationwide stronghold for them, though they are losing suitable nesting habitats due to the sweeping renovation of the old housing stock especially the use of modern roofing methods and materials. If you have had a recent roof conversion it may be worth considering installing a swift nesting box. I think the London Wildlife trust has some free ones. I have some leaflets at my shop, Captured on the Rye with information and contact details for more information. The most amazing fact I learnt about swifts is that as soon as the youngsters are fledged and take their first flight, they don't land again for at least two years, when they first nest themselves. They are truly an aerial species that eat, sleep and breed on the wing. Always great to see and hear them.
  14. My 4 year old is signed up for Super Kids 5 - 9 August, it comes highly recommended by friends. Easy to get to on the 185 bus.
