How much should you pay for piano lessons?
lorraineliyanage replied to MollyE's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The SE22 Piano School charges ?25 for a 30 minute weekly lesson. There are several opportunities for our students (or any local pianist) to perform so we have a busy extra-curricular schedule to complement the weekly lesson. http://www.se22piano.co.uk/events/ -

Another vote for Eos Dance. Lots of fun for the young dancers - not just ballet but street dance and kids' zumba too. They also organise lots of lovely events for the kids throughout the year. My daughter absolutely loves it! http://eosdance.co.uk/ -

Piano buying advice wanted
lorraineliyanage replied to goldilocks's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Another vote for Piano Lobby, they have some really nice pianos. I have a Barber upright piano. Alternatively, Casio do some very realistic digital pianos - the Celviano is great. I have an acoustic upright and two digital pianos (Yamaha and Casio) if you want to try them out. -
Nimble Arts is 8.30am - 5pm at Heber School: http://nimblearts.co.uk/?page_id=611

Has anyone done Nimble Arts Holiday Club before?
lorraineliyanage replied to notesink's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My 5 year old really enjoys it - she has been twice now and is signed up for a couple of days in half-term. In fact, yesterday she asked me when she's going back to Nimble Arts! It's a really creative course that has obviously had a lot of thought put into it by the team that run it. Each day has a completely different activity and the kids came home with some fantastic art bits and pieces last time at the Halloween event. There's a good ratio of staff to children. The only downside is that it's quite expensive compared to some of the other holiday clubs. -

Electronic Pianos - which makes recommended?
lorraineliyanage replied to mysticmark's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Mark - I teach piano locally and my students have bought the following digital pianos and been very happy with them. I own a Yamaha P35 which you are welcome to try out. http://www.musicroom.com/se/id_no/01063685/details.html?kbid=3726 This Casio is also really good: http://www.musicroom.com/se/id_no/01055902/details.html?kbid=3726 Both digital pianos are around the ?350 mark. The Casio comes with the stand and headphones. It is worth buying a decent pedal as they don't come with a very realistic block pedal as you'd find on an upright piano. -
Nimble Arts is really lovely and has lots of creative activities for kids. At Heber School but open to kids from any school http://nimblearts.co.uk/
