  1. I am a bit of an old fogey at the age of 32. I like to keep my feet warm with slippers when it's cold and I like to go to bed around 11pm at the latest. I've even toyed with getting an electric blanket because I hate being cold in bed but my other half has banned me from such granny activity. I also hate going out to bars. I went to Black Cherry for 5 mins on a Fri night and had to leave as the music was just too loud! Pickle - my nanna is 95 and still going strong, although I think she's made of tougher stuff than I am!
  2. Any plans to run it on an additional day in the week perhaps?

  4. Is it other people's experiences that babies become less fussy as they get older with bottles? My daughter rejected all bottles around 5 months, and then suddenly picked back up around 9 months and drinks out of anything now. It was a pretty tough 4 months when she wouldn't take a bottle though!

  6. The chemist on Northcross MIGHT sell them, unless I am confusing this with the NUK bottles??
  7. Ooh i've never given her a box to climb in and out of - that was one of my fave things to do as a nipper. i WOULD give her the box of tissues, but she would happily munch through most of it too. Bombi and C definitely have the tissue munching in common! Bombi will also have loads of fun demolishing my mum's xmas tree.
  8. Molly - I never checked out what Iris' birth day photo looks like, am off to investigate! Lou mentioned what to buy her for xmas this year. I said let's just re-wrap last year's xmas presents which he didn't like the idea of, so maybe we'll get her a photo as it has a bit more meaning than the fluffy toys we got her last christmas!
  9. We should organise a day-trip to the seaside - wellies and LOTS of warm clothes needed!
  10. It's crazy how much we spend on the littl'uns!!
  11. Molly - I ordered one of the 1st day photos for my cousin's son's birth - they absolutely love it! Thanks for the recommendation, I saw it a while ago on another christening post Another recommendation for the card shop (Greetings?) near Green and Blue, does lot of lovely baby bits and pieces
  12. I did consider getting a car seat that swivels so that you don't have to stick most of your body inside the car to get your baby into the chair, but we were given the Priori and it's been perfectly fine.
  13. Yep avoid the Purflo, it's too saggy, but it is very easy to wash. I think it's good to regularly be able to clean a baby's mattress. It doesn't trap any dust either. I don't think it will be any good when my daughter is heavier, it will just sag. I can't believe it cost more than our stroller!! Also it's one of those baby purchases that you probably won't be able to shift on ebay as everyone wants new mattresses for their babies. Hopefully I can pass it on to a friend. I think I'll get a Naturalmat, they look really solid and will last until they are much older. If I do get one, I'll let you know. Not likely to buy for a year or so though - will put it on next year's xmas list for the grandparents to buy probably!!
  14. I spent a fortune on a mattress from PurFlo, was worried about the baby puking and lying in her vomit which this one is particularly effective for, as well as being dust-free. However, my baby has never puked in her cot, plus didn't even go in the cot bed until 8 months old and I've found it is not that firm so it wasn't worth the splurge - new parent anxiety! I also considered one of these NaturalMat mattresses - may even upgrade to this once we turn the cot into a bed as they look much more firm. They are made from natural fibres, not latex like most mattresses.
  15. The HV will make sure you are breastfeeding, then fill in the for your child's BCG immunisation. And they will weigh the baby. That's all we had!
  16. We've been through bottle rejection around 5 months and a latex teat from the Green Baby glass bottle got my little one back onto the bottle. Now we just use the bog standard Avent ones.
  17. I also found an amber teething necklace really calmed down my little one when she was cutting her eye teeth, we've not had any teething pain since (although she does have VERY rosy cheeks and drooling non-stop). If you google "amber teething becklace" you will get lots of results.
  18. Another vote for the Maxi Cosi Priori, easy to fit and easy to get the baby in and out of the car
  19. I ate all the stuff that HeidiHi listed above - and more - and baby is fine. I don't believe in being too cautious, I just ate it all in moderation.
  20. peckhamrose - the little card is a Reader Reward Card. After 6 trips to the library, you get to take out a DVD free of charge for a week :))
  21. Another vote for Dulwich Medical Centre - The Lanes midwives are fantastic
  22. I wouldn't mine buying a clean secondhand mattress for my daughter when she moves into the cotbed, she'll be about 2 then and if it was in a good condition i wouldn't feel the need for her to have a brand-new one at that age.
  23. Nighttime is the only time in our house that Iris stops wriggling and jiggling hence why I thought it might be the best time for C to wear the shoes. Maybe you could even put them on her once she has fallen asleep? Good luck!
  24. Not sure I can do the twelfth, am running the NCT xmas kids' party in the afternoon in East Dulwich so will probably be knackered. Hope some of you can come along to that!
