  1. Hi Clementsann26, If no.28 EDG has plants obstructing the public highway then council officers will take action. I'll look tonight on way home from work. With respect to foliage going across into your private gardens, possibly damaginng your property, this would be a private matter between you and the owners of no.28. If you dont know the owner then you can search for the deeds stating ownership via HM Land Registry. Email me if you need any help in how to do this.
  2. Hi Clementsann26, Very long story. Many many many years ago before my time Southwark Council sold this property to someone. Ever since they've been trying to get planning permission to demolish it and replace with a block of flats. I sat the Dulwich Community Council Planning Committee that met in from memory March/April an refused permission. The owner will either appeal and I suspect lose or bid their time and make a further application and rely on the new centralised planniing committees to let it through. DDC planning committe was disbanded in May.
  3. This sunday Playfield Crescent will be closed between nos.6-46 noon-4pm for a community street party. Hope the weather holds for everyone and have a fun day.
  4. Hi sjf1, No I'm not suggesting early morning deliveries. Part of my objection was that the applicant have stated they intend early morning and late evening deliveries. Hope you've had a chance to tell the planning officers your view.
  5. Hi Zak, Trams have lower running costs than trolley buses, attract more people out of their cars and are only marginally more expensive to construct. Hi undisputed truth, Lewisham Council have done more of the running over any possible Bakerloo Line extension than Southwark Council. I ensured routing it via Camberwell was in Southwark's master plan but if Southwark really wanted it it would need to do more. What kicked of Woolwich Arsenal extension was a ?60,000 study and a lot of hard work by Greenwich Council. Sadly I don't see any such level of effort by Southwark Council. Equally TfL are talking about Chelsea-Hackney route for a new tube and not talking about Bakerloo Line extension. IF a Bakerloo Line extension was started in 2020 the way TfL would build it would meant 2025 opening at the earliest. The proposed tram could be built within 12 months of planning approval.
  6. Hi MM, Goose Green rounabout is better in terms of residnets being able to freely move about - whether on foot, bicycle or motor vehicle. When a pedestrian couldn't cross directly in the past they had to cross two arms of the roundabout rather than one to make the same journey.
  7. The Bakerloo line should be extended. It is a no brainer in theory. But the proposed extension of the Northern Line from Kennington to Battersea was costed at ?250m but within two years once London Underground were involved has become ?500m. The DLR was extended 2.5km, roughly the distance E&C to Camberwell, for ?180m including everything. DLR tunnels are much bigger than Bakerloo tunnels or Northern Line tunnels. So bizarre London Underground unable to price match the DLR tunnelling but they can't. So I don't see the Bakerloo Line being extended soon with London Underground being involved. So the tram proposal is precisely because the Bakerloo Line will not be extended any time soon.
  8. The scheme as originally proposed requires occupants of the proposed flats to access those flats via the proposed larger shop service yard. Due to a death in exactly such circumstances such a combination is not acceptable due to H&S. So I don;t see what has been proposed as flying. To change the flat access back to the front would require the applicant to change their scheme which resets the clock avoiding an sappeal for 'non determination'. so unlike REnats for this scheme I don't have that concern. And I do expect ot appear as a ward councillor before the planning committee.
  9. Wow! hi the-e-dealer, Could you put a link to the ONS stats you quoted so fazer71 can look at them. Hi Fazer71, Despite Goose Green rounabout being such a success I wouldnt want to replace all traffic lights with roundabouts. Equally GG roundabout is better since it allowed pedestrians to cross all three of its arms. Hi Fred, I do think parking enforcement is sometimes overly zealous. I also think those that live in CPZ areas are asked to pay too much.
  10. The proposed Southwark Supertram (http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/2012/07/20/catch-22-a-southwark-tram/)is effectively a pilot to show how trams could be reintroduced for a very low cost in London. If successful I would hope it would be extended. Trams across Europe have and are being built for this price, ?55m for 5.5km. Why should Brits be any less capable civil engineers? Why London Bridge to Kings/Maudsley Hosps? All contained within one borough + TfL who control Borough High Street and E&C. Without any need for compulsory land purchases it would only need planning permission and not a Transpoer & Works Act making the overall process significantly simpler and shorter. Why now? Trampower have virtually all the permissions they need to build their first line in Preston, Emirates Air Line was largely funded privately, coalition govt. have issued policies promoting trams. Until Trampower are building in Preston it will suffer credibility problems. The trampower appreciate and understand this. This contrasts with the previous Cross River Tram that involved five boroughs + TfL and one of the boroughs Camden refused to have a tram gonig there. The costs ratched up from ?200 to ?1.5bn with over 40% set aside for contingency - the joys of public funding. They spent over ?50m just on the project team for so many wasted years! A private enterprise can't afford such waste.
  11. Hi fazer71, You say lines are creeping further round corners and also say lines have been removednear corners. Grove Vale used to have no parking either side with a massive pedestrian island in the middle and lots of white hatchings down the middle. These were removed and parking allowed all the time on much of Grove Vale. Lordship Lane and East Dulwich Grove have no chicanes. EDG many years ago had some small kerb buildouts and the odd small island and the pavements cut back - to allow more parking. Goose Green roundabout is slower due ot traffic volumes. One way of speeding it up would be to remove parking on the NE side of Lordship Lane. But I and you would be against removing parking. But I do need some new glasses frames.
  12. Hi fazer71, What utter nonsense. Which East Dulwich streets are you suggesting have less parking?
  13. Hi Henslowe, I'm sorry things have gone wrong with your blue bin this week. As P68 says you're not being punished its just that its another fortnight until they do that again. Ideally you'd hang on and keep recycling, you could use drop sites for surplus recycling, ask a neighbour if you could add some to their blue bins or you could use normal green bins as a last resort. Hi Betty31, After the changes more parking has been created but as you piont out much is 30mins or 2hours. I asked Cllr Barrie Hargrove and formally requested this of officers that where not outside a shop it be un restricted parking but he refused. Many of the signs have been nicked. Grove Vale has a record of this. If this continues officers will come to Dulwich Community Council to double yellow line it and we'll get a chance to say no we don't want any restrictions. At that point it would be a small scheme and Cllr Barrie Hargrove wouldnt be involved and sanity where you live would finally prevail - its been a bad day! Hi OlivaDee, I've had a response and will dig it out and post over the weekend. Apologies for the delay.
  14. We're talking about Southwark Council selling properties badly over a dozen years ago. 34 East Dulwich Grove could be added to the list. Equally the new owners were rubbish and caused untold grief to the flat leaseholders - which is probably why the inspector let 6 flats remain.
  15. Not sure that local pharmacies are that far from DMC and they all provide repeat facilities. Also from a governance perspective it seems wise for GP's NOT to profit from the pharmacy function and good pharmacists act as a check on what is prescribed which would be harder to do when your salary comes fro mthe GP's you might need to correct.
  16. Much of the opposition was related to keeping local shopping areas vital and not adding a 100hour pharmacy to a residential street. The needle exchange is the trojan horse for the pharmacy.
  17. I'm really disappointed that the Dulwich Medical Centre is reapplying for what was so vehemently opposed only a few years ago.
  18. Dulwich Library is temporarily closed due to a power cut - presume they're connected.
  19. Latest update on the East Dulwich station works from Southern Railways to me: " The shelter on Platform 2 is now in use. The shelter on Platform 1 should have been operational quickly after this but whilst demolishing the old shelter, the retaining wall was found to need additional work to ensure the ground in this location did not subside. We expect the shelter on Platform 1 to be ready by the end of the week. We did choose June-July to install the shelters expecting reasonable weather to mitigate the loss of shelters for a couple of weeks but the unusual amount of rain has meant that their being out of use has been more of an issue than it would be normally I?m afraid. The information screen at the street level to Platform 1 is faulty and due for replacement as part of a wider project to install or replace screens on our network. This will happen over the next few months (but work can't take place over the Olympics). The clock on the information board on platform 1 is now working. The grafitti will be seen to this week and the leaky shelter has been highlighted to our facilities team to be rectified. "
  20. I'm realy sorry Ms B. This isnt how its meant to work. If you ever get an email it will have an unsubscribe at the bottom or feel free to contact me I'll ensure your details are removed.
  21. Hi DJKQ, We shouldnt need people to be injured to know it makes no sense allowing people to speed through the park environment. 5mph is good enough for Dulwich Park which is enforced by restricting people from driving through the park. Peckham Rye has a car park further in so the road needs calming. Perhaps long term the car parking should be on the edge but for now a calmed park road seems best short term solution. Short-term because road humps cause discomfort to some. So what would be your long-term solution
  22. Southwark maps have been amended to include speed count on East Dulwich Grove - close to the junction of East Dulwich grove with Melbourne Grove 24.4mph av. speed westbound and 25.5mph av eastbound. http://maps.southwark.gov.uk/connect/index.jsp?tooltip=yes
  23. I dont think that's true - Renata or the-e-dealer. You can impliment 20mph speed limits without any measures if the 85th percentil speed is 24mph or below.
  24. Hits Southwark 10.06am at the Millennium (wobbly) bridge.
  25. Call 101 non emergecny Police number. How incredily frustrating. WHo needs the hassle from such a stupid theft.
