  1. Hi Sally Eva, Such as scheme has been suggested in the past by Councillor Ian Wingfield for Dulwich Village. Allowing Southwark residents to drive through but not non Southwark residents unless they stay on the main roads i.e. the A roads. Half of all cars start and end journeys outside Southwark. Suspect now with GPS route finders now more likely to follow back roads such as Camberwell Grove. The idea being to make the school run safer for kids to walk and cycle to school. If such a scheme were to happen then several railway crossing such as this could make the area much more pleasant for those not driving and for Southwark residents who drive. Enforced via ANPRS. In the last 25 years London population has increased from 6.8 to 8.8 residents. The same is forecast to happen again. Doing the same and keeping the same road conditions assuming this forecast happens shouldn't be an option. 25% more traffic on our local roads. In fact we're seeing the opposite. TfL are nipping away at the existing bus services. Today I learnt that the no.42 bus route will reduce from one every 10 min to every 12 minutes. That a 17% reduction. Same with 176. Hi edcam, Camberwell Gove being closed in the middle has made it much more attractive and pleasant to cycle along - or at least it has for me when I'm huffing and puffing southbound homeward bound along it.
  2. Hi Jacqui5254, I'm sorry you needed to escalate this to me. Glad we got this foxed for you in the end. I have highlighted the generic problem to council manager hoping it will be permanently fixed.
  3. The latest is that Southwark Council has allocated ?15k for bridge strengthening which would allow vehicles single lane up to 3 tonnes - partial reopening of the road for motor vehicles. That weekend train line closures had been booked but due to operational reasons Network Rail have had to cancel these closures. My guess would be they'll attempt to organise this in the new year. To have un restricted access would cost ?1M of bridge strengthening and extensive train line closures with bus replacement services - I'm not clear how many weekend train embargoes but a number is what I'm told.
  4. The consultation states overall traffic is down 15%. to repair the bridge would involve significant closures of the railway line and cost. Unfortunately the consultation didn't explain those costs and closures.
  5. Hi seenbeen, I have contacted the council team about this via [email protected] and the councillors casework team asking when they will stop giving skip licences to this property. A one month skip licence is ?76.50. So hardly a deterrent to extended skip presence.
  6. Hi Jacqui5254, Yes the bulky waste service the council provides has become truly awful since they introduced a charge for it. The charge has meant a reduction in people using the service so fewer crews employed to provide it. That reduced capacity and peoples rightful expectations being higher for a paid service, combined with the council no longer taking phone call queries has create this appalling service. My lot given a chance would restore the service as free to residents with the ability to phone and talk to someone empowered to fix problems - enough electioneering for today! If you email me the specifics of your case I can escalate the problem and get your problem fixed.
  7. Hi Jacqui5254, Best to email me the details, reference number/s etc to [email protected] my council provided IT is on the blink AGAIN.
  8. Hi Seabag, Community pianos need to be under cover.
  9. It would b great for more ideas of where to place benches across the area.... Hi macutd, That is currently Village ward - but if you email me on [email protected] I can organise an application for a bench there.
  10. Virgin Media Chief Execs office has asked me to tell them the postcodes of people affected by poor VM service - please email me directly on [email protected] and I'll cc you the email I send back to VM. I'm looking to send that email Sunday late evening.
  11. The annual round of Cleaner, Greener, Safer capital funding is still open until 23 October. http://www.2.southwark.gov.uk/info/200256/cleaner_greener_safer/1554/applications If you have an idea to make the area better get in touch and I can talk you through applying for funding or even complete the paperwork for you. I've had an evening of talking to two people proposing projects and helped them. Fun things to help with as a councillor.
  12. Yes they've been funded by East Dulwich ward councillors allocating some of our devolved capital Cleaner, Greener, Safer funding. Cllr Charlie Smith came up with the idea Cllr Rosie Shimell and I supported it and have done much of the councillor leg work to make them happen.
  13. The current premises status I believe is as an A1 shop. They were a wine shop come delicatessen that also served food. A change of use without the correct planning permission would be illegal.
  14. Hi amydown, If you email me your address Ill explain the rules for your home WRT dropped kerbs/crossovers/etc. It varies by road and even address under some circumstances.
  15. I will have formal planning department explanation of what and when or nothing is required early next week.
  16. Sadly I couldn't attend last night - any feedback from them meeting? The connection with Greendale could be widened to improve sight lines. Overall the path could be widened. The eastern end could be made much more attractive. I've submitted a Cleaner, Greener, Safer application so South Camberwell ward councillors can allocate the required funding or find other budgets.
  17. Hi Simon4360, The market operates on North Cross Road between Lordship Lane and Archdale Road - so any where out side that area within the normal restrictions of yellow lines and corners.
  18. I've been having a tough year. I was knocked from my bicycle at a roundabout in clear dry weather. Driver immediately admitted fault and two eye witnesses. No prosecution. Three weeks largely housebound from ankle and knee injuries. It happened in Herts and they clearly have the bias Townleygreen suggests generally pervades our legal system/society. Next week I take delivery of front and rear facing bicycle cameras. BUT what is the relevance of this debate to this road junction being changed? The fact that this was introduced into this thread shows how anti cycling we all are. It is a good thing to have quieter routes for less confident cyclists. Mention of Camberwell Grove being fine - that is true for current and historic cyclists but not of people who say they are too nervous to cycle. We need a step change in numbers and proportion of people cycling to help fight climate change, improve health, etc. The proposed new junction does not appear to have sufficient cycle capacity to support a growth or step change the number cycling.
  19. hi Lucy, I also contributed to the crowd funding. The new junction design being built purports to help improve the lot of cyclists. But its capacity for cyclists appears the same as current cycling levels. The width of those N-S segregated cycle lanes are too small for a growth in numbers cycling. It makes no sense. As for taking 6 months. That's just bad project management by Southwark Council. My lot tried to get the final decision for this scheme discussed at the main Over view & Scrutiny Committee but Labour wouldn't allow this. They are wedded to this design. Regards James. 20. This is the response I've had from council officials: "Dear Councillor In response to your enquires, which both relate to the event at Dulwich Hamlet on the 17th September. Please see the following link: https://shoobs.com/events/22185/family-fun-day-jerk-fest-car-stereo-clash Our records show that we had eight calls between 7.08pm and 8.20pm that evening. Officers arrived at the location at 8.24pm on arriving at the complaints locations they were informed that the music had stopped. However on leaving the location officers could still hear faint music , and found that the noise was not coming from Dulwich Hamlets FC , but from Sainsbury?s car park. There was a group of approximately 30 odd people, scattered around the car park playing loud music from their car stereos. It would appear that after the event closed (7pm), a number people had moved in to the car park and carried on. Officers could not make an assessment as to a Statutory Noise Nuisance , as they were unable to identify any particular source . However they called the Police at 8.53 pm (Cad 7945), two police cars arrived at 9.19pm , as soon as they did the music stopped and the cars started to drive away. The officers then contact all the outstanding callers and advised them of what had happened, when officers left there was no noise from the car park. A noise warning letter has been already sent to Dulwich Hamlets FC, on the 10th September, in response to the activities and noise that weekend. If you have any questions on this or any other maters please call me directly. "
  21. I wonder if Southwark Libraries could also act as collection points. Let me ask.
  22. BT are not universal across East Dulwich SE22 area. So real BT not spots - weirdly near their exchange! When I met with BT they asked if the council could make the required investment. So we need Virgin Media broadband to work reliably as some level of competition. We also need mobile phone masts upgraded for 4G LTE and soon 5G - but that's for another day. I contact VM formally Spring 2016 and was given all sorts of promises about August 2016. Clearly a problem. And the excuse of the council blocking them I just don't buy. One way to get their attention is via social media. If you can please retweet this so we get their attention -
  23. Hi eastdulwichhenry, I had thought it a one time event with a report to me that it went on until 2am on the astroturf. Looking at that thread appears a more regular problem now. I will ask the council noise team what they plan to do about this anti social behaviour. Hi Pugwash, I've asked about having average speed cameras on Barry Road - so far without success. That would solve the speeding problem.
  24. you got an answerphone for 999?
  25. I've lso had complaints about a party on the astro turf going on loudly until 2am. LEt me ask what the noise team will be doing to get reasonable behaviour back.
