  1. Hi Pugwash, If you can put me in touch with some current social workers, OT's working in Southwark experiencing this problem I will work to et this resolved for them - I know not strictly in East Dulwich ward it must have some knock on impact of vulnerable people I our patch. Hi Sally, The next step is the formal Traffic Management Order which is effectively a formal public consultation. Real opportunity for you to make the case for longer hour of operations and equally those against. I'll endeavour to make people aware when this stage starts.
  2. I've made the school aware and they've now confirmed contractors have been made aware by the school and on their way. Many thanks Huggers for staring thread that alerted me.
  3. It sounds like a crime disaster area waiting to happen. Our minimal local Police effort will be sucked into this one proposed new establishment if built. The current pub is already disturbing local residents - compounding it with 47 people living in dormitories isn't going to make that any better and quite likely significantly worse.
  4. Hi spider69, A few. It would be tricky to pick out one road to have different operational times than all the others. In Herne Hill two hours of operation has resolved the commuter parking. If the proposed two hours is insufficient then it can always be extended when it is reviewed usually at 12 months. My beef is no consideration of streets south of the railway line has been made and how it will move the problem. But I also get where does this end. In East Dulwich ward south of the railway track and south of southern side of Grove Vale - the new Charter East Dulwich school and new super clinic replacing Dulwich Hospital will see extra parking stress while these building are constructed and after they're built. This new CPz will compound the problem. Also JAGS and Alleyns currently have building works causing paring stress apparently around there where not previously felt.
  5. Hi sb2010, I will chase this up for you and all the other female users. Use local councillors to escalate local service issues caused by the council or its contractors. PArty what we're here for.
  6. Assuming council officers don't agree with my understanding of the council constitution then the next step will be the statutory consultation where spider69 you can make your views on times of operation known. Abe_froeman you can highlight your general opposition.
  7. Sure Purple - please email me on [email protected] with your number and a brief outline of the problem and I'll try calling you this evening around 6pm if that works or at another time you specify.
  8. Hi spider69, If 11am-1pm Mon-Fri works by stopping commuter parking then why would you want longer parking restrictions? If it doesn't work then that would be picked up in feedback early on and the hours could be mannered. In Herne Hill the CPZ's work noon-2pm and residents I've spoken to there seem happy with this.
  9. I've just had Virgin Media contractors turn up (again) to dig up the road. I checked the Street Works website to ensure they had a permit and unsurprisingly for Virgin Media they didn't. They also hadn't organised proper traffic lights and Traffic Management. When I re challenged these contractors showing them the website map and no permit they packed up and left. Talk about cowboy contractors but also Virgin Media locally for employing them. Councils reaction is I should have let them dig up the road and then reported them! They can only issue a fine when the road is dug up not when someone closes it preparing to dig the road up.
  10. Hi macutd, Yes, I think we'll experience extra parking pressure in East Dulwich ward. I've been told by council officers that the Dulwich Community Council will not be consulted on this despite it occurring on our immediate border. I'll try quoting the constitution...
  11. Southwark Council have just approved a new Controlled Parking Zone operating Mon-Fri 11am-1pm centred on Dog Kennel Hill - http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50015012&Opt=0 It will clearly add more parking pressure to residents south of the East Dulwich railway line. East Dulwich ward councillors and the Dulwich Community Council were not consulted. Councillors in Peckham and Nunhead were! I have asked why the Dulwich Community Council were not consulted and that the decision be deferred until we meet in January.
  12. Dear Scorates31 and rendelharris, Chuffed to see you agree to disagree with each other. And Happy Christmas to you both. Best wishes, James.
  13. Plans are being developed for a second entrance. I met with GLA Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon and the train operator several months ago on site about a second entrance on the northern side. Plans were shown. One successful outcome of that was the second ticket machine.

Best wishes, "
  15. Hi jocher, Southwark Events Team should be leading on this. It wouldn't go through the planning department as such. I've emailed them asking for details. Hi Socrates31, IT is working for me - http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9575882 It doesn't sound a good scheme creating 47 bed hostel Home multiple Occupation. I could understand if they were creating a boutique hotel as East Dulwich doesn't have any hotels.
  16. Hi Socrates31, I will take a detailed look tonight at this planning application and whether the system is working correctly.
  17. Hi ITATM, I can not envisage any political circumstances where local politicians would agree to sell Townley Road to a private school. I think the school needs to manage the school coach service supplier much better and visiting coaches. The alternative is either draconian parking enforcement, width restrictions to effectively ban the coaches in any practical sense from Townley Road, or allow the school to build on its grounds coaches parking/turning - which I doubt either the Dulwich Estate or Southwark Council would allow as it is Metropolitan Open Land. By far the easiest answer is managing the supplier and visitor coaches. Regards James. intexasatthe moment Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I agree ,well done Ruby . > > But honestly they couldn't care less could they ? > > I suppose it won't be long before Townley Rd will > simply be closed off at Dovercourt and absorbed > into the school grounds .
  18. If you send me emails about the problematic service I will seek a formal review. When I did this for the Dulwich Medical Centre the formal improvement plan they agree appears to have made a real positive difference.
  19. Hi Huggers, The school also came back to me very quickly. They do not currently this FY have the budget to add a timer or sensor to ensure that even allowing for the odd human error they would go off. But this is something they would be willing to consider when the funds are available.
  20. Hi Huggers, I had exactly the same casework some years ago. I'll drop them an email and ask if they can save themselves some money, reduce CO2 and put the light on a timer or movement sensor.
  21. For those that haven't spotted this. The proposal is to make a quiet cycle route more attractive through East Dulwich - it joins us in Adys Road, then Crystal Palace Road, Goodrich Road for a few metres, then Landells Road to Barry Road. The idea is to remove central islands, place lots of double yellow lines to make it easier for motor vehicles to pass people cycling. The end result has also been shown to see people driving at faster speeds. WE know that higher motor vehicles speeds discourage cycling. I believe the proposals deeply flawed and are designed to give the impression of 'doing something' spending cycle budgets but will have minimal impact in meeting the objective of more people cycling. But will see the area have increased motor vehicles speeds and more reduction in places for people to park locally.
  22. Hi ZT, Southwark Council is about to implement - having made the Traffic Management Order in May, parking enforcement officers being allowed to warn and then if necessary issue tickets for people leaving motor vehicles engines running. Hi Asset, The private school coach services makes Dulwich private schools more feasible and attractive for families from a much wider area. Many families will have selected these school on this basis. So it is beholden on the schools to make this service work well for all parties including local residents or face restrictions that will kill the service and hugely inconvenience their pupils and families that use them. I have received casework about the double yellow lines and will be asking the head of parking enforcement to make sure these lines are enforced.
  23. Hi ed_pete, The NHS reps have submitted a second application to resolve planning conditions. Many more to come but it is movement. Separately Ive been told The Charter East Dulwich School project team are concerned that unless the building start rapidly in the New Year it could cause a whole year slippage for the school finally opening fully. will keep you posted. ed_pete Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James - any update on the medical centre that's > replacing the hospital. 24. Removing parking and pedestrian refuge islands to make the traffic more free flowing on these rat runs but then countering this with more speed humps is very old school highway engineering. The ideal would be reduce traffic. This is how they successfully make cycling on back roads more popular - and has been done to great effect in Hackney. Either a hard blockage or CCTV monitoring. I'd favour the latter allowing Southwark registered cars to pass unhindered. Non-Southwark cards during rush hours pay a fee.
  25. Hi Siduhe, The Cabinet Councillor has decided to reopen the road ASAP - likely nexT March +/- a month as it was before controlled one lane by traffic lights.
