  1. If you are having problems with any mobile operator after repeated attempts at contacting them then email the Chief Executive: EE - marc.allera@ee.co.uk O2 - mark.evans@telefonica.com Three - david.dyson@three.co.uk Vodafone - nick.jeffery@vodafone.com None of them want unhappy customers. They will all have teams for complaints they receive.
  2. After querying exactly what the closures are for I've just been told that they're no longer needed: " Good morning Councillor, so to update you, the closure of Grove Vale by Network Rail is no longer required. " BTW it was a Network Rail request to check the bridge - presumably they've found another way to do this that costs them less and doesn't cause the road to be closed.
  3. Hi alex_b, 4am noisy Conway working sounds terribly anti-social. I will share this problem with the head of the service. Thank you for telling me.
  4. Double yellow lines started to be painted last week. I'm sorry we couldn't get a more rationale length of double yellow lines from the current council administration.
  5. Hi tiddles, I'll take a look and ask. Thanks for signing posting this to me.
  6. Hi Pebs, The school head has been really helpful. Thanks for reporting the issue as presumably not just annoying you but also other neighbours.
  7. Grove Vale from East Dulwich station bridge to Melbourne Grove will be closed 10pm Thursday 15 February until 6am Friday 16 February. Crane work I've been told. The proposed detour is via Peckham.
  8. Long time ago when I chaired Southwark Cyclists TfL gave me stats showing in London 11% of cycling killed and seriously injured are from being 'doored'. Cycle Training advice is to cycle further out to avoid this happening to you. Equally car occupants are duty bound to properly look to avoid taking people out.
  9. Perhaps wroth asking Thames Water for separate supplies. One way of making this happen might be to ask for a water meter. If you get stuck email me and I can try talking to Thames Water.
  10. Hi P68, My lot and I have repeatedly made it clear virtually banning phone calls is wrong on a number of different levels. I/we will keep doing this. One of my Lib Dem colleagues last week paid for someones bulk waste and organise it for them online. Not everyone is online or even has a bank card.
  11. The policy is different between Southwark Cemeteries. Also different levels of enforcement and style of enforcement. The policy relies on people during grief understanding what a particular box ticked over another means. A number of families have complained to the cemetery office and not been sign posted to the official complaints policy - so the council management are unaware of any complaints having ever been made. Maladminstration is too strong. But clearly the current rules , processes and lack of accepting complaints is wrong.
  12. Hi uncle glen, I get regular casework with distraught people who are completely foiled by the removal of phone calls from raising requests. Some really distressed people. I also gets more casework of the system not working and them being unable to get the problems corrected via online forms. My lot would return this service to being free - Southwark has appalling levels of fly tipping - and something a human can speak to another human to organise as well as the online option. Hi P68, All policy changes have impact assessments. They always appear box ticking exercises.
  13. Their are a lot more mobile cell sites than people realise - https://www.mastdata.com/37/37_map_mobile_mast.aspx?Table=15&AdTyID=43&ROName=SE22&Z=14 T-Mobile = EE. I happen to know the cell site for EE on top of the Coop is being significantly upgraded. Most operators have two frequencies 900Mhz and 1800Mhz. They started 4G rollout with one frequency and are now adding the other which has much better building penetration. So all operators are improving their networks but it does take time.
  14. I agree with dbboy. This is people becoming distressed now. And this is avoidable. I've asked for the policy to be suspended.
  15. Hi localresident, Many thanks for calling me. I have forwarded your email correspondence to the relevant director asking that: " Hi xxxxxxxx, We appear to have new cemetery rules that don't resonate with anyone outside the small council team. A 35 year Southwark Council Street Cleaning Supervisor xxxxxxx xxxxxxx recently passed away. He was buried at a Southwark Council plot. The family were dismayed that the flowers and subsequent flowers have been removed before the end of their life. A 7 day rule. That they were removed in an untidy way. That a nearby babies grave presents and flowers were also removed distressing the family and siblings of the baby. This policy is heartless. I can see the administrative thinking behind it. But that does not in any way change the impact on families. Can you please urgently review this policy? Can this review be undertaken with the help of bereaved families and undertakers? While this is done can the policy be suspended as a sign to families that Southwark Council does care? " I have copied you and also Cllr Renata Hamvas in the hope you don't need to have lots of dialogue with two councillors and that officers deal with one request jointly.
  16. Hi 1921, Wheelie bins are not allowed on the pavements if people have front gardens. Let me see if you could have a bigger blue wheelie bin - regular ones are 240Litres larger one would be 360Litres. 17. Hi paulu1973, Absolutely understand and sorry my timing was so problematic. I'm a dad. Although my children are now teenagers I clearly recall the exhaustion. We didn't start calling on people until after 11am. Best wishes, James Barber paulu1973 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Firstly sorry for calling you an idiot and closing > the door on you but when you buzz a door on a set > of flats I want you to think the following a) what > happens if they are the parents of a ten month old > who hasn't slept and only now just fell asleep > only to be woken by the buzzer and whose parents > haven't slept for a long time and b) read a. Again > sorry for calling you an idiot am sure you meant > well-built please reconsider the Sunday morning > door knock on flats
  18. Southwark Council have replaced one online map with a different system giving the same information.
  19. Hi B+, It isn't the diesel that's the problem but the engines combusting it. Plenty of diesels producing less particulates than petrol cars. B+ Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There is no need to have zones, cameras, a small > army of enforcers and staff. > Just increase the Tax on diesel fuel then those > that do the most mileage with their diesel > vehicles will pay the most, and if the extra > revenue raised is used to fund a diesel vehicle > scrappage scheme then it would be a tax that > phases itself out as diesel vehicles gradually > leave our roads.
  20. Hi El Presidente, Majority of Councillor have regular full-time jobs. Most outside of Southwark. My day job mostly see's me travelling around /se England but occasional trips across the UK. Air pollution is killing many Londoners prematurely and disproportionately poorer Londoners. It's also damaging the health of of the rest of us and life chances of London children and again disproportionately children from poorer families. But the proposed changes will be painful for many and some will need to change how they get around London. I would be interested in your alternative proposal?
  21. Hi Sue, No I hadn't spotted that. I've posted on the thread asking them to contact me and that I'll then take their specific case up and the general rule. Thanks for pointing that thread out.
  22. Hi localresident, Can you please email ne at cllrjamesbarber@gmail.com and I will take your specific case up and the general rule. It does seems terribly heartless.
  23. I have raised the issue and this restaurant will be visited to show they have a waste contract and how they operate and where they store bins within the curtilage of their premises.
  24. Hi Calsug, Air pollution hits the poorest the most. In Southwark the most polluted roads are roads which disproportionately have our poorest residents - Old Kent Road, New Kent Road, Walworth Road, London Road, Peckham Rye, Peckham Road, Camberwell Road, Camberwell New Road... https://academic.oup.com/jpubhealth/article-abstract/39/3/485/3076806 https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/sep/19/poorest-london-children-face-health-risks-toxic-air-poverty-obesity Totally agree public transport improvements are necessary. Trams can be quickly built an deployed and no plans in place to do this. The taxation raised will be used to maintain current public transport and the appearance of TfL fares freeze.
  25. Poorer residents are impacted to a greater deal by air pollution as they are more likely to live along the roads that are busier and most polluted. So poorer residents are disproportionately impacted health wise by air pollution and cost wise if they run an older vehicle by this plan but are much less likely to run any vehicle. I think it is accurate to say we have an air pollution crisis. We need the political leadership that Boris did not provide to solve it. I don't think the proposal will fully solve this crisis but it will take an important step towards doing so. As much air pollution is caused by the friction between tyres and roads, clutches, etc. So even the cleaner cars are only clean in the sense of exhaust emissions they'll still be causing particulates. Wood and coal burning is still a problem - despite us all living in a smoke free zone.
