  1. Hi macutd, East Dulwich ward has a budget for free motorbike ground anchors. Village ward requires residents to contribute. We've recently allocated more crime prevention funds in East Dulwich ward. This will be spent during Financial Year 18/19. If you or anyone needs one please email me - [email protected]
  2. Hi TE44, Housing Associations and the council have tens of thousand of social housing in controlled parking zones so they must have cracked this one. Hi singlto, I campaigned to stop the crazy amount of double yellow lines installed. Originally it was going to be 10m from the apex of every corner but reduced a little to 7.5m. Annoying. Thanks Luana. Hi sahmatin, I've not looked at the survey reponses so far and wont for a couple of weeks.
  3. Yes, the P13 is running back on its normal route.
  4. Hi Mscrathew, I'm trying to play a straight bat. I hope peoples views will be based on all the facts so we can get a real sense of what the whole community wants. I've had private emails criticising me from both sides of this discussion for favouring the other!
  5. Hi TE44, If a CPZ was in place it could have limited times of operation - Herne Hill CPZ operates noon-2pm, the Dog Kennel Hill scheme to be implemented after the election will run 11am-1pm - then residents could arrange for visitors outside those hours of operation. Or residents can buy one day visitor permits.
  6. Hi Blah Blah, Yes, it is in terms of squeezing the door knocking we normally do over the year into 3 months. We're also getting a number of people previously against controlled parking saying with increased parking stress they've changed their minds. Hi eastdulwichhenry, I think everyone would agree with your sentiment that in an ideal world controlled parking in our area wouldn't be needed. Some think we're well past that point, other that it's bearable or not even a problem. Hence the survey to collected everyones points of view.
  7. Great idea and campaign. First event is planned for Saturday 19 May. What I hadn't appreciated is even cigarettes have micro plastic in them. So when discarded in the gutter get washed into the drains, decompose and micro plastic bits end up in the sea eventually. Who knew! The Surgers Against Sewage recommended personal actions to curb plastics are - - Remember your refillable water bottle - Take a reusable coffee cup and refuse single-use take away cups - Refuse single-use packaging - Resist a straw; straws suck - Refuse a single-use plastic bag and take your own - Take your own cutlery or use sustainable alternatives - Avoid single-use plastics in the bathroom - Refuse single-use condiment sachets - Do your own #MiniBeachClean. Grab a handful of plastic pollution every time you visit your beach - Fund the Resistance- Donate to SAS today and help fund the resistance. Just ?5 helps support the movement towards Plastic Free Coastlines
  8. Hi terrie, This is the response I;'ve had back a few moments ago... " Southwark Council - Member enquiry Our reference - 907663 Subject - Piermont Green Dear Councillor Barber Thank you for your enquiry dated28th March 2018, in which you requested information regarding the following: Can you please tell me what changes are being made to the Piermont Green area please - I've had several residents contact me incensed about public money being spent in whatever way it is being spent! Something about new kerbs? I can now provide you with a full response to your enquiry. The pathways across Peirmont Green were significantly damaged and required reconstructing. The weight of vehicles using the path had caused the edges to erode away. To stop the same thing happening again a kerb edge is being installed as part of the construction. This will ensure the road can continue to accept waste collections and residents at the end of it can safely access their properties. The kerb stones were initially installed at the wrong height. The contractor is reinstalling them in a lower position. The concrete posts that lined the road will be reinstalled once the work is completed. We expect this to be completed by the end of next week. If you have any questions about this response please do not hesitate to contact me "
  9. Hi monica, Come canvassing with me and tell me that their isn't significant demand for controlled parking. This is not something I have resurrected. This s something that has un prompted been raised not he doorsteps of East Dulwich. Hence the TEMPERATURE check to see if fundamentally views have changed or whether we're only hearing form people bothered by parking stress and not from perhaps many who are silent. If I had an axe to grind I really would not be presenting this survey in this way. It would rather be a petition. And yes I have highlighted that it could damage businesses or could aid businesses and the 22% on average of their custom who drive to the area. Businesses near to the station it would likely create parking opportunities during the day currently occupied by commuters. I've linked several times to a study of shopping habits to show people where the 22% comes from and I've also highlighted the risk this may pose to struggling businesses. I am attempting to be as open and transparent as possible.
  10. Hi Bobby P, It IS NOT Lib Dem policy to force CPZ on anything - what is your source for such wild assertions? Hi Pugwash, Thanks for this. Hi BNG, Then why do the streets near East Dulwich station fill up with cars during the working day? And when the CPZ introduced around Herne Hill and North Dulwich station the streets now have plenty of parking spaces. It seems pretty clear some people are integrating cars and public transport into their commutes. It's whether this bothers residents enough to want the down side of controlled parking.
  11. Hi terrie, I'm afraid I don't. Let me ask and come back to you.
  12. Hi Rendel harris / Pugwash, It is a great idea but relies upon the idea that free parking doesn't exist anywhere else. So if a CPZ is looking likely I'll have a chat with Sainsburys. Hi Abe-froeman, I fee la little damned if I do and damned if I don't. Some have raised concerns about be using this to communicate with people. And now you're saying why haven't you told people the results so far - less than a week after opening this up. SE22 will be delivered in the next day or so. A fortnight after that I will collate the initial results. Does that seems fair and reasonable? Hi bel123, Not sure if you spotted The Lordship Lane shopping report I signposted - https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwiux7f1wI7aAhUkK8AKHWl5AcQQFggpMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.southwark.gov.uk%2Fassets%2Fattach%2F1922%2F2.2.11%2520Lordship_Lane_Web_Report.pdf&usg=AOvVaw1x_zdaBQEUgxWH7fRiLqAf It shows 22% of Lordship Lane shoppers drive there. One angle to view this is any CPZ would discourage people driving to shop in the area. Another view would be except for the time of CPZ operation shoppers would be more likely to find somewhere to park. Hi Bobby P, The new CPZ being installed just after the local elections to the north of East Dulwich railway line will add parking pressures to the south. You assume everyone can or wants to walk for 10mins 2/3 mile. People tell me on the doorstep it means they can;t leave the area by car in the daytime without having to park some distance away. That's perhaps fine for you and me. But if you have a real need and mobility issues yourself or your dependents then you either move or don't go out or use taxis if you can afford them. And these behaviours appear ot be so non local residents can park near a station and largely car commute - presumably from another place that has a station with more expensive ticket prices not in zone 2. Hi ford, CPZ business permits cost ?577.50 each.
  13. Hi flocker spotter, But you don't have to answers question 8. Why is it offending you when you clearly understand it is optional and the survey is clear which questions are optional?
  14. Hi Robert_F, The specific responses to measures along Crystal Palace Road were even more negative! A bizarre way to spend ?1.7M. Anyone who wants to park will find it a tad harder with the further double yellow lines proposed. Cyclists wont appreciate cycling up and over the raised treatments when cycling up even the mild hill of Crystal Palace Road. People walking wont appreciate the islands being removed which are particularly useful for unescorted children.
  15. Many thanks for the 189 respondents so far before we've widely advertised this.
  16. Hi Blah Blah, Precisely. This is a survey to find our who wants and does not want controlled parking. As things stand the council is registering ONLY those that want controlled parking. When it reaches a critical number it will spend tens of thousands of pounds conducting a public consultation that will then find out those for and against. As stated my survey is a temperature check to see if the balance of local resident want or do not want controlled parking - potentially averting a large waste of public money. Hi Curmudgeon, As stated previously, it will be signed posted in the next SE22 magazine, here, tweets, emails, etc. Hi mikeb, We ask those questions - optionally as on this survey - in every survey we do. It would be perverse the one time I don't ask these questions near an election. Hi spider69, I was tired last night - the council web page about the Dog Kennel Hill controlled Parking Zone decided to proceed earlier this year and to be implemented summer '18 -https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjC9Ouxt4naAhVNDewKHVgVCNsQFggpMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fconsultations.southwark.gov.uk%2Fenvironment-leisure%2Fdogkennelhill%2F&usg=AOvVaw2ZfVka86PpdBjL-k_6ldvY 15% response ratite the public consultation. 49% of that 15% in favour, 36% against. 10 streets with less than 10% response rate of residents.
  17. Hi Zak, At any other time I would have asked these questions. You appear to be saying near elections you should not ask peoples political opinions.
  18. Hi DulwichFox, Email me about this and I will get it fixed for you and generally for others. Sounds like significant mess-up.
  19. Hi nomen, some people will leave an email address to be updated others a phone number for text update. Postage costs me more cash, time and effort. And until 4 May I can;t spend any money else it would count as an election expense. Hi sider69, Can you share the link to the DKH CPZ report please - I'm knackered and going to relax after a long day canvassing. hi Sue, Before postings here I had submitted a piece in my SE22 column about this sign posting the survey. So it will be widely distributed across the area in print form. The forum is great but only one medium to communicate with residents.
  20. Thank you Sue. Exactly as designed.
  21. Hi siousxiesue, Let me ask council officers about the building problems. I'm afraid the council will have sub contracted this to presumably the highest bidder. Fortunately Caf? G isn't so far away and they don't seem glacial even at the weekend.
  22. Hi everyone, As stated at the start of this thread - the only mandatory questions in this survey are views on controlled parking and name, address. As stated name and address is to confirm if some one is a resident of the area and which street their comment and views relate to. The no, no, no's is exactly why we're running this survey. It is easy to get people feeling parking stress to respond to a survey aimed at collecting peoples views for controlled parking. But we need to hear from everyone - for and against - to get the fullest view. The alternative is a public consultation at great public expense that then uncovers those for and against and only then people against come forward.
  23. Many people have contacted my colleagues and I asking for controlled parking so we want to take a temperature check of what all local residents views on this are - for and against. We have created an online survey to capture the views of those for and against a controlled parking on their street - https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/KGT2WZR Controlled parking has recently been installed in North Dulwich. And it will be also be installed on the northern side of the East Dulwich railway line this summer. Parking spaces are coming under increasing pressure with the installation of significant extra double yellow lines, along with local developments such as The Charter School East Dulwich and new health centre, which even while being built are adding to the problems with contractors parking in the limited spaces. Controlled Parking permits costs ?125 per vehicle and any zone is likely to operate for one or two hours per day - this could vary by street. Local businesses are likely to oppose controlled parking as a minority of around 22% of shoppers visit by car and any loss in trade in the current economic climate would be really painful for them during the hour or two of controlled parking operating. Please let us know what you think by completing this short survey - https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/KGT2WZR NB. What we have found historically many want state they want controlled parking. The council then runs a public consultation at great cost. At that point people have come out against a CPZ and it has not proceeded. The most recent experience was at the northern end of Crystal Palace Road. So this is a genuine attempt to take temperature check on views for and against - [www.surveymonkey.co.uk] Your name and address and views on controlled parking are mandatory questions the remaining questions are optional. We will check every response is from a local resident against the electoral roll.
  24. Hi nxjen, Yes, I have asked for general voting preferences. We do that on pretty much every communication and the question is optional to respond to. Saves me knocking on your door in the next few weeks repeatedly until I find you in. Hi Sue, Thanks for the suggestion - edited with that extra option. Thanks for the constructive suggestion. Hi Siduhe, I've just checked and as I thought the age question is not mandatory. It's useful to see if we're getting representative demographic but limited to how far we can go on that without it being a very survey. Hi P68, Names and addresses are in the public domain. Year of birth is optional and NOT DoB that would be problematic. If we can't identify people against the electoral roll we can't be reasonably sure responses are from actual residents.
  25. Hi P68, Thanks for commenting here before giving me a chance to responds to your PM - Blimey I do have to work as well! I want to check that people responding are residents and that we don't get more than one response per resident. Hi nxJen, Yes, we do plan to tell people who respond what the overall results are. But as stated above the only compulsory part in that section is an address - people don't have to give email although or phone - but they would save me printing a letter and shoe leather. Hi Siduhe, All political parties can see the whole electoral register but a few have no address associated with their names. If anyone does not want us to tell them the survey results then state that in the comments.
