Please do complain if you have grounds or even complement if appropriate. I'm keen we bring this to a head. Their is absolutely no reasons for this appalling low level of service.

Hi Dodo1, It is a remarably tricky location. Could we organise a site visit for ward councillors to agree what we can do to help improve the situation? -

Hi SebsC, I agree. I've personally reached the end of my teacher with DMC and have also made a complaint:http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/?p=2947 I would encourage others to do the same. If enough people complain then something I'nm sure will be done about. -

Hi first mate, Officers will not withdraw and the cabinet councillor is silent on the matter. Hi ITATM, Will have a good hunt at the weekend. Hi Cora, Yes, parties can ake promises but they'll take a very long time to change things. You should compalain NOW - http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/?p=2081 It should be a simple matter to have sufficient appointment slots. -

Hi John K, I have an email somewhere that explains it all but it really will be a needle in a haystack finding it - so don't hold your breath but I will find it. -
Please don't just email councillors. You must email [email protected] to ensure you get into the official consultation responses.

Hi first mate, The bit about not applying to cyclists is that it legally isn't enforceable for cyclists. Bicycles don't come with speedometers. But the Police can enforce cycling recklessly. Hi edhistory, I don't believe I've seen the report on the private landlord consultation. We have a real problem of some landlords not ensuring their properties are secure or insulated. A disproportionate number of the burglaries in East Dulwich are from such properties - poor locks, no window locks, etc. The worst insulation problems should be resolved via new government regs that start coming into force 2016 - http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/?p=2926

For clarity first mate - it clearly IS NOT fit for purpose. Council officers don't yet agree and the cabinet Labour councillor is currently being silent on this and hasn't agreed my request to extend the consultation deadline while yet another pickle is sorted out. -

Coach services for DPL on Alleyn Park: " Just to update you on further developments ? from tomorrow we are trialling a walking bus system whereby coaches arriving before 0815 will drop off at the Alleyn?s Head pub where they will be met by DPL staff who will escort the children to school by a walking bus. Unfortunately they can?t commit staff after 0815, so any coaches arriving after that time will continue to drop on the triangle at the junction of Hunts Slip Road. Hopefully this will be some improvement until more long term solutions are actioned by Southwark council. " -

I'm trying to untangle this with officers and a helpful resident beign the guinea pig to try the fixes being suggested. ANother example adds weight that the problems are sufficient that the deadline should be extended and the form made easier and I've requested everyone who has responded so far be alerted to the problems and given opportunity to add more responses. -

The latter link is effectively radar of decisions coming along. The former alerts to key words you're interested in. The car outside 11 Lordship Lane. Southwark Council after many years has worked out how to give those cars tickets. So the recent red car has gone. Hopefully this is now permanently fixed. -

Hi first mate, woodwarde, Clearly not enough comms around the 20mph consultation otherwise more people would know. It hasn't helped that the rollout has felt ragged. I'm afraid I don't recall if Southwark Life magazine carried this asking for input. Pretty sure the Dulwich Community Council list would have listed it - if you attend a community council you can be added. And I'm pretty sure I would have sent an email out about it - let me know if you want to be added to my email list. You can also set-up an email alert on the Southwark Council website - I think this is the area to subscribe with key words and be prodded via email when decisions are being considered: - http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieLogon.aspx?RPID=529473131&HPID=529473131&Forms=1&META=mgSubscribeLogon You could also keep up to date via the Forward Plan: - http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgListPlans.aspx?RPId=153&RD=0 Hi tibby, Sorry. I'm free now and the reminder of this evening - please call me on 07900 227366 (only not available at bed times 8.30 and 8.45). -

Hi first met, I would generally support 20mph but not on every A road. Bit of pragmatism needed. Agree it is misleading - i feel misled. I'm against covering unrestricted to restricted as proposed and have formally objected on that basis for East Dulwich ward. -

Hi Charles Notice, first mate, 20mph. Consultations aren't referendums. Labour stood on a platform in the May 2014 local elections of 20mph. My lot did as well. We wouldn't have been so zealous about it and would have ensured more pragmatism and measures to make it self enforcing. Either way, Labour have a political mandate for this and many other changes. Consultations are to ensure daft things don't happen and that everything has been thought through. Labour councillors clearly think the 7 objections didn't raise any serious points worth changing their proposals. If you're dead set against them then your best bet is to find a technical failure in the process and raise that with the monitoring officer short-term. Longer term get involved in the political process whatever your party views or start a new party. The Towny Road fiasco shows what can happen if enough people make it clear they don't agree with Southwark Labour plans - and so near an election. -
Hi Jeremy, It isn't clear that the South London Line - closed to enable London Bridge redevelopment - will reopen in 2018 when Lnodon Bridge statino has been redeveloped. Hi rahrahrah, Thwe site is privately owned. I tried several times to get the council to agree with the developer to provide a new library as part of the redevelopment - Southwark wasn't interested preferring to build on the orchard site. Sotuhwark Council are now pushing for a new Thameslink station at Camberwell at the old station site. It isn't clear how much this will damage the case for a Bakerloo line extension via Camberwell. Best person to ask is the cabinet councillor [email protected]

I spotted this on Twitter a few moments ago: http://content.met.police.uk/News/Incidents-in-Denmark-Hill/1400029876425/1257246745756?scope_id=1257246764302 Southwark Police are investigating a series of incidents which have taken place between Saturday 31 January and Thursday 5 February in which a man has approached women in the Denmark Hill/Dog Kennel Hill area. When approaching them he has made lewd comments and on several occasions he has grabbed hold of them. When challenged he ran away. None of the women have been injured. All the offences have taken place between 18:00 and 01:00 hrs. The man is described as black and in his early 20s. Police have stepped up extra patrols in the area and urge anyone to report suspicious behaviour by calling 999. Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Service on 101 quoting ref 3003256/15. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 -

Hi ZT, Apologies I thought I had. Yes, it has gone throguh the legal process and is enforceable. Hi CHarles Notice, I have asked and will share any response I receive. You can also see past ones at - http://maps.southwark.gov.uk/connect/index.jsp?tooltip=yes you'll need to select "Southwark traffic flow data". Then zoom into the area you're interested in and click on a blue dot which represents the location as traffic survey showing volume and speeds. You then can click into further detail. Hi bluecanary, Thanks. -
One hour free parking in the area...
James Barber replied to easytiger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi P68, You don't know me very well. Hi first mate, The 1 hour restricted parking proposal is a borough wide proposal. It is in no way responding to any particular scheme but in response to requests from businesses, business forums across Southwark. As a result it is being decided as a strategic decision and regretably not subject to the normal local councillor scutiny and decision making. Changing 30 min parking to 1 hour I think should be fine. You can never be sure you'll get a even a simple task done in 30 mins - you just need a queue in the Post Office. 60 mins though gives more confidence this won't be a problem. SO I don't expect it to reduce by very much the available parking slots - mathematically it obviously has the potentially to half the available parking slots. But practically I don't think it will make much difference. BUT turning totally unrestricted parking into 1 hour restricted parking will totally change the balance between residents and businesses and I'm against this aspect. For example this is proposed on North Cross Road outside peoples homes for no good reason that I can discern. In writing officers have said to me they have no evidence that these changes will help businesses and that it is purely a politcal decision. So do you think Labour are right or wrong? -

James Barber replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi firest mate, I have objected to the proposed 1 hours parknig restrictions where it replaces existing un restricted parking. I think it would shift the balance too far away from residents needs. We also have a problem already of business owners removing signs restricted existing parking so they can park indefinately. Until the council can resolve this it seems daft to make matters so much worse. Eamiling the cabinet councillor who will make the decision [email protected] telling him what you think copying me would be the way to go. Hi ZT, Yes the 20mph could be enforced. It's a matter of whether the Police will or not. Yes, but as a stratgic decision skips over most councillors and community council involvement. We've encouraged a Community Speed Watch scheme and several years ago ensured local East Dulwich Police have two sets of speed gun/measurement devices. -

Hi libbyer, Yea. Worth noting that one-way streets have higher traffic speeds. Drivers don't have to consider any cars coming the other way. So campaigning to reduce road danger by introducing one-way working would be counter productive.
