  1. 'The WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) ie nerve agents, saron gas, anthrax, botulism and more. was supplied to Saddam by the US and UK in the 80's when he was our friend' Any evidence for that?
  2. Tony Benn, agreed. A glib extremist.
  3. Juandan Apologies if not, but are you the same "juandan" who Twitters on matters McCann and posts about the McCanns on David Icke's site? And is this you? http://dan-juandan.blogspot.com/ I enjoyed the piece that concluded "I honestly believe the McCann?s are being protected by the Freemasons in my opinion it?s the only explanation."
  4. 2002 world cup playoff against Greece. Last minute goal on the back of a performance of staggering effort and quality, amidst a sea of dross.
  5. Sweet Jesus. The links are hopelessly biased and take as their starting point that the McCanns have something to hide. I'm sure if I linked you through to conspiracy sites on MMR, on 9/11, AGM, diana's death, and you didn't read any of the counterveiling evidence you might come to an erroneous conclusion too.
  6. Guilty as charged then
  7. But do you not see that it is not at all edifying to see elements of the public, spurred on by some of the most ammoral tabloids in the country, speculate and point the finger in this unsubstantiated and sometimes rather disgusting way. Look at the sites linked to on this thread. You need a bath after reading them. How does any of this help the course of justice? It doesn't. It's like some sort of sick murder mystery weekend.
  8. "I celebrate your sense of indignation about a case that's unresolved." Well I don't think you should. Have a look at the website linked to in an earlier message. While ostensibly there's a lot of factual detail on there, when you delve a little deeper you find some really nasty stuff. So look here: http://www.mccannfiles.com/id16.html And pay attention to the commentary the author makes under the the interviews with Madeline McCann's mother. Here's one: "there must be serious concern for the safety and welfare of the twins should the McCanns eventually face charges over Madeleine's disappearance." and here's another "Why is Kate referring here to murder? Has she made a huge freudian slip?". Then look at some of the deeply disturbing comments left by readers on the site first linked to and deemed to be a "respected site". http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/
  9. Like MMR, 9/11 and Diana's death, the McCann case has become a magnet for conspiracy nuts and Daily Express readers. It has an added ingredient in that people can get terribly self-righteous about what the McCanns did (no doubt to their eternal regret).
  10. Anyone got views on the Twin Towers attack or Diana's death? I just don't trust the MSM. Or large farmers.

    Which Bike?

Decathlon mid range are pretty good. I should have said the under ?200 models, which are ok i suppose for sunday cycling, but not serious mileage.

    Which Bike?

I wouldn't buy a bike from Halfords, unless it's one of the higher end bikes like a Boardman. Nor would I get anything from Decathlon. Cheap badly put together bikes that won't last long if you're riding seriously in London. Nor would I get second hand in London. I looked into this and they seemed seriously overpriced to me (although Bob's bikes off the Walworth Road sell second hand pretty cheaply and would ensure it's road worthy). You could look on Gumtree, but they're often nicked. What I would do is wait until after Christmas, because that's when bike shops discount massively to get rid of old stock. I bought a bike in Edwardes's in Camberwell a couple of years ago in February. Came in all in at about ?350 for a decent Kona hybrid with Scwhalbe puncture proof tyres (I would recommend such tyres). You could also try a few bikes out in a bicycle shop and then buy off the web after Xmas (so eg Wiggle). This is a bit naughty, but if it's Evans no problem: they deserve it! If you're looking at sub-?400, makes I'd go for are Kona, Marin, Trek, Specilaised. If you're festivally plump, Ridgeback's aren't durable enough in my experience.
  13. National average is 73. Bessemer's added value is very good. And Dog Kennell Hill boycotted the tests.
  14. Ouch. The swine failed to get to me either, so it's a trudge to Peckham Netto later.
  15. Perhaps it's something to do with the snow.
  16. There was some very dangerous lumpy black ice on Walworth Road cycling in this morning. Still a bit left coming back. not nice.
  17. Any road used by a bus seems ok this morning. Cycled in this morning up Peckham high st, Walworth Road and Blackfriars; no problem, frostbite aside. Roads pretty clear of traffic and buses seemed to be getting in fine. Trains few and far between on the lines behind my house though.
  18. They're out in force in SE15 at the moment
  19. DCMS supports or "sponsors" various "national" museums directly; some you'd expect NMSI, NHM, IWM), but also some that are funded for various sometime anomalous reasons (so Tyne and Wear museums), but also collections that aren't really "national" (The Horniman imv). It gets about 4.5m from Government, so that's a hell of a gap to fill. They do though have funding guaranteed to 2015.
  20. Crikey James, this isn't your finest hour. GLA isn't a funding body. And London Councils Grants isn't a "quango": it's a body that oversees an agreement between all London boroughs to pool an element of their funding, recognising the fact that a lot of VCS bodies don't limit their work to within an individual borough. Right or wrong, the upshot of this proposal is that VCS bodies in London will receive less cash. Applauding it on the basis that a) it's a nasty quango and b) that in some way the GLA precludes any case for its existence is somewhat asinine. Sorry!
  21. didn't some white christian british Celtic fans similarly insult the memory of our veterans a few days ago?
  22. I thought Audley was something special when he won the gold. But he's turned out to be a bit of a duffer. He has a puncher's chance against Haye's glass jaw. But i reckon Haye inside five.
  23. Oh what a joy it is to stick it to the Australians. And with props for centres too,
  24. Apologies if this has been linked to before, but there's a splendid little film here about a view from the allotments above Dulwich Woods. http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2010/nov/11/britains-best-views-dulwich-london But we all knew this.
  25. I need most of my 18 gears when going up Denmark Hill. I really hate that stretch. I can see the attraction of single speeds in London. But fixies off track is too bold for me. But then my old Dad worked for Sturmey Archer, so we're pro gear in our family
