  1. Still queueing now all the way back to the station. This is at 12:45 am
  2. You got your wish?
  3. Usyk is a former unified belt-holder and has never lost a professional fight. AJ's camp will not be underestimating him. Size will confer one advantage, but there is plenty more to it than that. That said, I still fancy AJ for it.
  4. We really do not need yet another thread on this.
  5. If you look at the fixture list you'll see the home fixtures are relatively infrequent. https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/dulwichhamlet/teams/56196/fixtures-results In October, there will be two Saturday games and one Tuesday evening*. There will be some noise associated with that, but you may even find it quite warming - it's quite a wholesome club. * This is for the men's first team. The ladies' team and under 18's I think also have fixtures there, but don't currently draw comparable crowds
  6. The Esso garage just past the Horniman sell this now too
  7. I may be mistaken, but I didn't think that East Dulwich Ward existed any more since the last election. Which councillors are you referring to?
  8. It's not very comforting to the victim of a violent crime though is it?
  9. I'm not certain online grocery ordering increases congestion. If the routes are planned properly, I would have though the opposite would happen. I would support a change in legislation to make it compulsory to charge delivery at cost (minimum) on orders less than ?100. It's far too easy to order small, low-value on Amazon Prime knowing they'll be delivered the next day with no charge.
  10. Thanks for the heads-up. What a horrible experience, I hope your wife is okay.

    nunhead

It's not a village. I never knew that the Ivy House had once been known as The Newlands Tavern. You see Newlands on maps sometimes but other than the Newlands Academy, I have never heard anyone refer to that part of Nunhead as such.
  12. Define 'real Londoner'...
  13. I thought Enid Blyton was born in ED but moved away as a young child.
  14. What mechanism can you use to enforce a no-car policy with paying customers both in terms of how it would be policed and issuing sanctions to rule-breakers? I doubt it would create much extra traffic for the reasons already stated, but think it would be tough to enforce such a policy.

    Get over it

Is the 1.25% being split between employee's and employer's contributions? That, at least takes the sting out of it. I read that people working above retirement age will pay in the future; does that include people who derive income from investments but aren't technically working? And I think I saw something about a rise in the tax on share dividends, so not all bad...
  16. That's a fairly reductive question though... no-one wants more traffic. We all want access to healthcare and education provision.
  17. All what posts? I understand that you saw a cyclist jump the lights. I'm not doubting the veracity of that. I just don't quite get what we're supposed to learn from that in relation to LTNs... maybe you could explain?
  18. What should we glean from that in relation to LTNs? Get over it

Absolutely - NI hits people on lower incomes harder. But then that's what Conservative govt's do. Stick 1% on basic rate tax - 2% on the higher rates, and bring CGT (closer at least) into line with Income tax.
  20. But Corbyn was the party leader at the time of the last council election in 2018. And Labour in Southwark increased their no of votes, no of seats and %share of the vote - also won the two seats for the newly created ward of Dulwich Village - a geography that has the highest Conservative support in the borough. We will learn if LTNs become a cause for regret in the next election this coming Spring.
  21. "and silly labour councils have taken the bait - thinking it would also make them popular with vocal, middle-class voters on nice leafy roads" Do you genuinely believe that is one of the council's drivers for doing this?
  22. Just catching up on some of these posts. So... Dulwich active travel levels are already super-high, probably couldn't get higher - they're at the maxiimum basically. But also... cycle journeys had a boom in the first lockdown, and that has now all but evaporated. Might take me a little while to process that.
  23. Athenlay run sessions for younger children on a pay and play basis on Saturday mornings recommencing I believe on Sat 11th Sept. These sessions happen in the Athenlay club ground at Homestall Road. Players need to be registered with the club in advance to participate. Feel free to PM me for more info if needed.
  24. Thanks for sharing the link. Have you looked at the attached PDFs?
